LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain and Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq says that he will soon sit with Test captain Misbah ul Haq to discuss the team’s performance and future strategy.

“Misbah ul Haq has rendered great services for Pakistan and he is our most successful Test captain,” Haq told media persons in Lahore.

“I haven’t been able to talk to Misbah ul Haq ever since he returned to Pakistan from Australia. But I will soon sit with him,” he said.

Haq's remarks came in the Pakistan's dismal performance in the Test series against Australia. Misbah ul Haq was specially under scrutiny for his captaincy.

Former Australian player Ian Chappell blamed Misbah's captaincy for Pakistan's poor showing in the Test series.

To a question, he said that every player must perform to stay in the squad.

He also questioned the fitness of players. “Our players lack the fitness level required to compete at international level and we need time to overcome these problems,” he said.

The former skipper said that Azhar Ali would lead the team again after gaining fitness.

“We will also introduce a rotation policy for fast bowlers to keep them fresh and fit,” he added.

Hope Inzy is tough on fitness, fielding and running between the wickets :P

In all seriousness, its about time. Pakistan have a history of running their pacers into the ground. Any sensible cricket nation nowadays adopts rotation policy for the seamers.

maybe he'll start looking at a core pool of five to eight seamers..

How about you do your job Inzi?

We are never going to win anything with the likes of Rahat, Imran and Sohail in the side.

And from the report it seems Kaptaan Misbah will continue to lead us despite the disaster tour down under with both as captain and as batsman. Mashallah.

Good. Pakistan need to look for pacers other than these guys. I hope that's what Inzi means by rotation. If he does, then this means we could see a lot of new blokes into the Pakistan cricket team who we've wanted to see for a long time. Maybe Sadaf..

He needs a quantifiable selection criteria but unfortunately he's not sophisticated enough

From the bowlers know of these should be in the pool.

Amir
Junaid Khan
Hassan Ali
Mir Hamza
Tabish Khan
Sadaf Hussain
Ghulam Mudassar

That's great, but maybe actually playing players that deserve their due would help.

Wow phenomenal vision and foresight from the Chief Selector, something no other nations could have imagined, i thought all this while that the same set of bowlers should be used irrespective of their workload and performances and if required changes should be made only in the batting order because it takes a lot of toll to bat sensibly.

There are enough bowlers to rotate in t20's,but for tests it's mainly all lefties.

And we all know the 'pool' of bowlers Inzi and his fellow selection committee would have in mind. Which means we'll still be stuck with Wahab in ODIs. The pool would go something like this:

Amir (1st regular pacer in ODIs)
Junaid (2nd regular pacer in ODIs)
Hassan (3rd regular pacer in ODIs)
Rahat (Okay in tests)
Wahab (get rid in ODIs/T20s)
Irfan (get rid, past his sell by date)
Sohail Khan (get rid)
Imran Khan (neutral towards him)
Asif (Potential return on the cards, if so, keep him only for tests)

No idea why everyone was so excited over his appointment. Most of these ex pros are uneducated individuals who can't solve a problem logically to save their lives.

lol still talking about players fitness. All the fitness and weight loss they achieved during the army training gone in a matter of few months.

Maybe instead of having them work harder in the gym, PCB should put players on a diet program and teach them self control so they don't indulge in unhealthy eating habits.

I get the impression that the PCB think-tank at the moment is reactive rather than proactive.

They are taking decisionsand coming up with ideas that other countries and Boards have been doing for years.

Just thinking along this line. They might even bring back sohail tanvir, bilawal bhatti , anwar ali, aizaz cheema in the form of rotation policy..

how has Inzamam not talked to Misbah yet??

this is absurd, the test humiliation ended 2 weeks ago- how have the Chief Selector and Captain not talked since such a debacle?

is this their job, or is this a hobby for when they're in the mood
