1st Test versus South Africa - Pakistan Player ratings

My personal ratings for 1st test for Pakistan. Feel free to comment and add yours:-

Abid Ali 1/10 - pretty poor with bat in both inns. Looks short of confidence and no hrart to fight it out. Did field well at short leg.

Imran Butt 2/10 - out to poor shots in both inns. Inbetween showed solid signs with bat, however needs to improve in 2nd test.

Azhar Ali 7/10 - batted well both inns, only blemish was throwing wicket away in 1st inns after getting 50.

Babar Azam 4/10 - played some good shots in second inns but was out to poor judgement twice vs left arm spin.

Fawad 8/10 - man of match with vital 100 in 1st inns, when he was stuck for runs after 50 in 1st inns he dug in and moved on.

Rizwan 6/10 - kept on the whole very well. Decent inns with bat but needs to start converting 50s to 100s.

Fahim 6/10 - vital 64 with bat, people should comend him for his improvement with bat. With the ball hes a 5th bowler not a Strike bowler. What 5th bowler is? He bowled with control and held up an end. Yes he does need to pick up odd extra wicket but work in progess.

Yasir 7/10 - bowled with control for once which was good to see, not the usual one bad ball an over we get. Also some vital runs with bat putting on crucial last wicket stand.

Naumam 7.5/10 - 1st inns did his job as a stock bowler, 2nd inns 5 for bowled with good variety. Looked competent with the bat and good debut.

Shaheen 5/10 - bowled honestly and chipped in with couple of wickets. Probably needs a break with him playing all formats. May get more assistance in pindi.

Hasan Ali 5/10 - ok performance with ball like shaheen picked up a couple of wickets. Room for improvement with old and new ball. Pindi surface may helps his bowling.

AJ agree with all except Rizwan - think he and Fawad similar - as in Rizwan did his job which was to keep well

His keeping was very good and one outstanding catch aswell. He also provide impetus in the inns by being positive. I was just dissapointed with loose shot he got out to just before end of a session. Am sure test hundreds will come like they have in ODIs.

Rizwan gets a 7 as he (once again) helped dig the team out of a pressure situation and kept really well.

Abid probably about a 3/4 if we're being fair.

Rest are good - would like to see these ratings after every match Pakistan plays

Poor batting, but a couple good catches puts him higher than 1.
Imran- 4/10
Great fielding, didn’t score any meaningful runs.
Azhar- 8/10
Batted really well
Babar- 5/10
Didn’t convert his starts, but had decent captaincy.
Fawad- 9/10
Aside from throwing his wicket he was perfect.
Rizwan- 7/10
Okay batting, but excellent keeping
Faheem- 8/10
Didn’t do much with ball but fantastic batting
Hasan- 5/10
Bowled okay in tough conditions

I think they were equally as good to be fair. I think in 1st inns nauman dried runs up and yasir took crucial wickets. In 2nd inns yasir showed control and nauman started to take wickets.

Both showed ability with bat. Pretty much there last wicket stand was one reason why SA lost. It turned a 90 odd lead into a 150+ one

His captaincy would not have mattered if not for first innings heroics of Fawad, Azhar and Faheem. A player should be rated solely based on his impact on the game, giving extra ratings because of pretty boy shots is as cringe and stupid as giving out extra marks for friggin handwriting. Faheem's first innings knock was 3 to 4 times superior to whatever Babar in the entire game. To be precise he had exactly zero impact on the outcome of the match.

Babar’s captaincy had a big impact on the game. 3 of those 5 points are for captaincy and 2/10 is my rating on his batting. Coincidentally I gave Faheem a score of 7/10 (one for bowling and six for batting, which is three times Babar’s) so we seem to be in agreement!

You been too generous to Hasan Ali and Faheem. Hasan was the worst bowler from both side and deserves no more than 2/10. Faheem, scored some runs, but has been a failure as a bowler which is his primary job. He bowed less overs than what a part time bowler would bowl, only 14 over in both innings. I won;t give him more than 3/10.

Babar’s captaincy had a big impact on the game. 3 of those 5 points are for captaincy and 2/10 is my rating on his batting. Coincidentally I gave Faheem a score of 7/10 (one for bowling and six for batting, which is three times Babar’s) so we seem to be in agreement!

After losing two quick wickets it was Babar partnership with Azhar that steadied the ship that has potential to drown easily under pressure. So how could you say it was just couple of pretty shots, he went out when only two was required. Captaincy also has big impact and this being his debut captaincy match he performed well.

Dont know whats happening with Rizwan... he is a much better player than the 50s he is making...

Feel the barrier will be broken once he registers his 1st 100...

MAybe move above Fawad?

Rizwan is my 3rd Fav cricketer behind Babar and SSA and I really want him to succeed
