Not really minnow, Afgh improved a lot since 2006 playing Division 5 cricket, players like Zadran, Nabi, Mangal and Shenwari were since then. If Afghanis are generally superior in terms of physical ability so not surprising to see them do well a sport. Imagine if Scotish players didn't spend only training 4 hours a week ? Afg are full time cricketers, Scots are not, same with UAE. ICC greedy fools must do something.

I'm sure some of these Scottish players play county cricket, which is not the case with Afghan players.

They did. Unfortunately you can only have one winner. But they have heaps to be proud of. Both teams really put on an amazing show. When teams are evenly matched you get much more of these types of games.

I was giving the minnow tag to Scotland and UAE here but yes Afghans actually can do much better considering their physical ability!

Considering the huge south asian population in UAE, they too can become a decent odi side if they are equipped with good financial support and strong minded players. Maybe the royal families will fund them after this WC Scotland's population is too small but it is a developed country consist mostly of White people and White people always do everything better

Not all of them do they ? Afghan players flew First Class on Fly Emirates when they lost toured Canada while the Amercian players flew on a budget airlines where you have to pay to get food lol. Afghan players are celebrities in their home, Scottish aren't. Ireland and AFgh are the only associates that deserve ICC membership.

Go check Scot cricketers out. Most of them are full time county cricketers

Apart from three players, all of the Scottish players have played/play county cricket.

So this excuse that they train only 4 hrs a week is quite shallow.
