2017 Champions Trophy, the best ICC Tournament in a long time

Except the weather, this has been the best ICC Tournament so far. All teams can qualify for playoffs. Not good for promoting cricket but 8 Top teams are way to go for any ICC Tournament
 
The weather has been bad. But group B is interesting. I love any tournament that India loses. Sore losers.
 
Er no,the action has improved in the last 2 days,but the tournament has been dreadful because of the weather.

On the contrary, I feel the opposite. Bad weather, and batting friendly pitches have made this tournament very uninteresting. Winning with D/L is never satisfying.
 
No, rain ruined it. Had potential, look at Australias status in this tourney
 
I loved 2015 WC. Some great matches in that particularly Nz vs Aus and Nz vs SA in semis..
 
Let's hope India and Pakistan qualify for the Semis and later meet again for the final
 
2011 World Cup was the last great tournament, but this has been better than the 2013 CT as well as the three World T20s.
 
It's been one of the worst tournaments in recent times given the uber batting friendly pitches and horrible weather
 
It has been better than the '15 WC; that was the worst ICC tournament in the last decade.

The 2014 Asia Cup was good - certainly much better than the 2016 one where it turned into a rubbish T20 farce.
 
Aussies still haven't played a complete match.Except for last two matches every match has been pretty one sided and almost expected results.
 
This is really unlikely but if they could make one of these future icc tournaments in the same format as 1992 when everyone played each other it would be fantastic.

Many cricket experts believe that was best format and also the best tournament to date.
 
The tournament is half way done and the poor Aussies haven't had a hit yet.


Badly rain effected, otherwise it has been exciting.
 
Pitches have been flat as hell, weather has been bad, how is it good?? Just because one team defeated another?
 
NO question, this is the the best CT ever. Not a single game is meaningless. And now, every match is virtually knock out, quarter final.
 
The rain has made a mess of things but lots of big games.

Every game from this point forward is massive with someone's campaign on the line.

NZ vs BAN(Loser Goes Home)
ENG vs AUS (Do or die for AUS)
IND vs SA (Virtual QF)
SL vs PAK (Virtual QF)

That's exactly because it's 4 teams in each group comprising of top 8 teams
 
Last 3 days of CT17'

Absolutely amazing last 3 games. It doesn't matter what ranking a team got on the who performs wins the game..

It is going to get better - next 3 matches are all knock-outs.

Australia vs England - A must win game for Australia
India vs SA - virtually a QF
Pakistan vs SL - virtually a QF
 
Absolutely amazing tournament. And we have fans here who thought champions trophy is meaningless and IPL is the real deal.

Have to agree. It's gone from a snoozefest to a thriller.

Looking forward to three days of what are essentially quarterfinals. I'm hoping they're all highly competitive (and that Pakistan wins its way into the semifinals).
 
And the good thing is weather will only get better from now on.

Im loving it you need tournaments to have this, lots of Drama kind reminds me of 2014 fifa world cup or euro 2016 in the sense of upsets, hopefully more good games to come.

There's a good chance Pakistan could be playing England in SF. Which I am not looking forward to, I don't at all trust Pakistan's top order against England bowlers.

Aus opening bowling is much better than England. On the other hand, English batting is devestating!

Might as well rename Champions Trophy to Upsetting Trophy then. :inti
 
Nope, too much rain for it to be considered legitimate especially if the Australians are knocked out tomorrow. Regardless of the disappointing final result, I believe the 2011 World Cup easily remains the best ICC 50 over tournament of the last 15 years.
 
The rain has actually made it more interesting.

If it stays away for the rest of the tournament, it will go down as a great, thrilling tournament with all 8 teams in it to win it.

Its been that way since 2006 and we BD fans complained it was done intentionally to keep us out. Feel bad for the Windies cuz they'd have sprung an upset or two as well.

CT should be top 10 teams, 2 groups of 5, with top 4 going to semis.

The world cup should be top 16 teams, 2 groups of 8, with top 8 going to quaterfinals.
 
No I think CT is fine with 8 teams but yes world cup should have atleast 14 teams.

Champions trophy is exciting because each match is virtually a knockout. You don't have any breathing space
