I guess these are just Pakistani cricket things.

Since CT 17 win, the same winning team has never played again, which is rarely seen for other tournament winning teams.

Most surprising is after seeing how good Amir and Junaid bowled in combination in CT 17, they have never bowled again together. Their style of bowling (One is a seam bowler and other relies on swing and nip) and experience complemented each other.

Before that we watched the duo in against Aus in Aus ODIs, and they performed really well together even back then.

junaid of 2013 and amir of 2009 would have been a sight.

junaid hasn't done badly at all recently..

if only junaid was backed as much as amir

Exactly. Junaid is one of the most under rated and ill treated bowler. Yes he had fitness issues but if he is fit he is good enough to play all 3 formats for Pak.

I guess he still has the most number of test wickets in UAE for a pacer.

The bowlers become more effective when they have a good bowling partner which is not only a good bowler but also complements well.

Wasim & Waqar, Walsh & Ambrose, Anderson & Broad are just few examples.

southee/boult etc.

you are right.

how do you feel about shaheen and amir

Amir is one of the most overrated and over hyped players in our history

They are decent however, at the moment Shaheen is inexperienced but with a potential which can set the world on fire while Amir looks totally out of color with white bowl. This together leaked too many boundaries in the 3rd match.

I would give the combo another go in the next match and hope they can do better.

A thing to note is Shaheen with his height is full more often then not which is impressive and tells you he is brave enough but would like to see him try few back of the lengths and short balls as well especially on the flat tracks like the 3rd ODI to put the batsmen on the back foot first.

On the other hand Amir who is a swing bowler is bowling too back of the length for well over a year now. The only chance he has to get swing is to give as much time to the ball in the air as possible, of course without making it a half volley.

If both are bowling to their strengths, they can be a pretty effective combo.

Shaheen is better, who are you expecting to be dropped for Junaid though?

Irrespective of how good or bad Amir or Junaid are. I was just surprised that after being so effective together in every occasion they have bowled together, U19 WC, Aus tour (ODI leg) and CT 17, they have rarely bowled together.

Yes Shaheen is really good.

Now if I have to drop one for Juanid in the squad it has to be Shinwari and in the team Amir but I was just surprised that since 2017 we have tried Raees & Amir, Amir & Shinwari, Faheem & Shinwari, Shaheen & Shinwari, Shaheen & Faheem, Junaid & Shaheen and Shaheen & Amir...... but no Amir & Junaid which proved to be success in a major tournament.

Having a different new opening bowling pair in every match and series is as bad as having a new opening batting pair.

Two option one is junaid khan who have done very good job with new ball he shoud be back when he is fully fit

Other is Abbas who should be given a chance in odis .if he proves his new ball skill in odis than i won.t mind him for worldcup.

Junaid did well against Bangladesh in that Asia cup. Why he is not playing?

amir has lost his pace we dont need both junaid and amir.
we should find another young energetic fast bowler which can partner with shaheen
thats the only chance we can improve our odi bowling

Junaid always looks lively and threatening with the new ball, like he’s going to get one to dart in and hit the pads lbw or stumps. The way Pakistani pacers used to do bowling in old days. For some reason you don’t get that feeling with Aamir anymore, he bowls every spell with the same low intensity like he’s already bowled 20 overs and has had a long day, and gets a couple past the bat to feel good.

Junaid and Afridi would make an interesting duo.

Actually they played together in the 5th ODI vs Zimbabwe so this title is factually incorrect.
