Three officers and a soldier of the Pakistan Army were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Kharqamar area of North Waziristan tribal district on Friday, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said.

Four other soldiers also sustained injuries when terrorists targeted a military vehicle through an IED planted on the roadside, the military's media wing said.

The martyred personnel were identified as Lt Col Raashid Karim Baig, a resident of Karimabad, Hunza; Major Moeez Maqsood Baig, a resident of Karachi; Capt Arif Ullah, a resident of Lakki Marwat; and Lance Havaldar Zaheer, a resident of Chakwal.

"This is the same area where forces had conducted search operations and arrested [a] few facilitators," the ISPR statement said.

It noted that 10 security personnel have been martyred and 35 injured due to terrorist violence in the area over the course of the last one month — a figure that includes today's casualties.

The incident, which coincides with the third day of Eidul Fitr, comes a day after two Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were martyred in Balochistan's Harnai district while on Eid patrol duty. The security personnel were targeted through an IED as well, sources within the Balochistan Levies had said.

It also comes less than a week after a Pakistan Army soldier was martyred in a gun-and-bomb attack on a security vehicle in North Waziristan.

It will be interesting to see how Army will react to this.

Things do heat up when an entity changes paymasters...

Up until a few years ago, both the attackers and victims here were on pentagon's payroll...so the response may just be muted compared to the full blunt forces projected against the Islamists...

Inna lillahi wa inna illahi rajioon

I hope those low lifes who spew filth at the army day and night have the decency to come on here and atleast be a little remorseful.

People “who spew filth” against the military have nothing against soldiers who have lost their lives. Soldiers are always honorable and deserve respect no matter who they fight for. At the end of the day, they are simply following orders.

The “filth” is reserved for the bigwigs in the military who have strangled our economy, created and sponsored terrorism that has spiraled out of control, and whose policies have resulted in the alienation of FATA. They are responsible for innocent soldiers losing their lives.

This is very true Mamoon. Until our people understand how much the Establishment have cost us in the last seventy years by treating the country as their own personal property and the people as their serfs, we will not be able to move on resolve any of our problems. Unfortunately power of propaganda is too strong and people heavily indoctrinated. They cannot see struggles of people in FATA and other deprived regions of country for what they are and instead start name calling when these topics are discussed.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon. Shaheed ki jo maut hai wo qaum ki hayat hai.

True and they will continue with their smuggling business on both side of border while the number of militants increase in the area.

...and Imran Khan wants to have talks with these animals instead of killing them because they are his Pathan brothers..

What you sow is what you reap. This was bound to happen after years of Army operations against its own civilian population in tribal areas.

I can understand that for normal ppl living in those areas, this same Army will be a symbol of hardships and suppression.

This makes it more ironic that poor pashtun Tribals are being killed when one of their kind is Prime Minister of the country. IK shouldn’t have made all those tall claims in the past.

A lot more Pathans were killed during the US war of terror, ably supporting by the local colonial foot soldiers Mush and the Pak military, yet the same buffoon who are now pretending to care for Pathans, were cheering on the carpet bombing and droning of the tribal areas...

Those tribal areas were full of terrorists and foreign fighters, kidnappings, drug smuggling and illegal weapons markets were widespread over there. Stop acting like a victim, typical of your people. What happened was the right thing otherwise it would be stuck in a cycle of violence and barbarianism like in Afghanistan.

First of all Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiyoon for the souls of the departed and May ALLAH have mercy on those people who think somehow these deaths had some justification.

The law of our land is foremost. Those who do not agree with it need to be prosecuted to the fullest and if the law demands their death, so be it.

No mercy needs to be shown these criminal b***ards. We also need to invest in those areas to create jobs and deal with genuine grievances.

Even on this thread these filth are pushing their agendas rather than saying a small pray in remorse for the loss of life. With Pakistanis like these who needs enemies.

Well their supporters seem pretty happy on this thread, they will still hide behind "Oh we have nothing against average soldier". Yes sure, weren't those PTM morons abusing and attacking these very average soldiers on various check posts? Their wishes have come true and finally we start to see terrorism increasing in tribal areas despite several initiatives by government and military to improve life, infrastructure, law and order situation. These racist idiots also call poor soldiers "Punjabi Army", yet we see soldiers from Hunza, Karachi, Luky Marwat and Chakwal giving their lives for country :(

Three soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in North Waziristan tribal district, the military's media wing said on Tuesday evening.

The martyred soldiers were a part of the army's patrolling team. One other soldier was also injured when the IED went off, the ISPR statement said

The site where the blast took place was cordoned off and a search operation was started in the area.

The martyred soldiers were identified by the ISPR as Sepoy Sajid, Sepoy Riyasat and Sepoy Babar.

Pakistani forces have also conducted a series of operations against militant groups in the tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the years. While officials say the area has largely been pacified, small attacks continue to take place.

https://tribune.com.pk/story/2310722/five-abducted-labourers-rescued-after-gunfight-with-terrorists-ispr

Security forces have rescued five workers of a private cellular company who were abducted by terrorists nearly three weeks ago in Kurram tribal district, the military said late Thursday.

The labourers were rescued in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) which came two days after a young captain and a sepoy were martyred in a gunfight with terrorists during an earlier attempt to free the abductees.

According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, 16 labourers working at a mobile tower site in Kurram tribal district were abducted by unknown terrorists on June 26.

A day later, 10 of them were released while the body of the eleventh was found in the region.

“To rescue the remaining five abducted labourers, security forces launched a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the highly inhospitable terrain under extreme weather conditions,” the ISPR said.

“The terrorists were continuously tracked and pursued,” it added.

On July 13, three terrorists were killed in an IBO in which “Captain Basit Ali and Sepoy Hazrat Bilal sacrificed their lives for the honourable cause of rescuing the innocent labourers”.

The security forces continued the pursuit of terrorists with determination and on July 15 pinned them down at a location, the ISPR said. The abducted labourers were successfully rescued following a gunfight with the terrorists.

“The operation is still underway to apprehend/eliminate the remaining terrorists,” it added. “Security forces are consistently endeavouring to ensure the security and well-being of our innocent civilians who have been whole-heartedly supporting the security forces in fighting the menace of terrorism.”

Over in Balochistan, an army officer and a soldier were martyred when terrorists targeted the security forces with an improvised explosive device in Khuda Bux Bazaar near Pasni on Thursday.

“Captain Affan Masood and Sepoy Babar Zaman embraced Shahadat,” the ISPR stated in a statement. It added that a search operation was ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.

“Such cowardly acts by inimical elements, backed by hostile intelligence agencies cannot sabotage the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan,” the ISPR said.

“Security forces are determined to neutralise such nefarious designs at all costs.”
