Iranian media report nearly 300 people have been killed and more than 1,000 sickened so far by ingesting methanol across the Islamic Republic, where drinking alcohol is banned and where those who do rely on bootleggers. An Iranian doctor helping the country’s Health Ministry told The Associated Press on Friday the problem was even greater, giving a death toll of around 480 with 2,850 people sickened.

desperate people looking for answers - its human nature and we should be sympathetic - one hopes that this clears up for them.
 
Some Iranians are very naive and paranoid. They shot down their own plane and now this.

This news is not surprising at all.

Good post. Humans are humans, wherever in the world they may be. The people most at risk are people of our parents' generation. When someone dies, there are usually people to mourn for them as we would mourn someone close to us died.
 
There is chance of people in India adopting similar methods if community spread happens.Government should inform people to not consume anything other than prescribed medicines.
