This is super super amazing effort by a man who has gotten extreme hate from a certain section of our so-called fans.

Throughout his career he's had to rescue his teams from batting collapses, probably the most number of times in cricket's history.

When everyone is dropping like flies around him, batsmen not even able to score double digits, he's the reliable Rescue 911 that you can always rely on.

And he did it again.

At 44.

Peshawar Zalmi was going nowhere, would have been out for 100.

Came in Misbah's heroics yet again.

Not only steadied the ship but put up a respectable total that bowlers can try and defend.

Salute!

:salute :salute

Highest score and runrate in the innings.

He's a beast!

and like always the haters have gone in to hiding. :)))
Big Mac just like old times ay?

No, they weren't going to get shot out for 100 lol. He played well, but it wasn't a great innings to start jumping and down like a cheerleader :))

Why not?

The amount of extreme hate he gets, there needs to be a balance.

He needs to be acknowledged for his heroics. :najam

The worst being that he looked a lot better than Talat, Malik, Asif etc. etc. against SA. Just didn't panic and waited for the right deliveries.

Misbah silencing critics even at 44. :misbah
Madplayer Savak nowhere to be seen

Waiting for the match to finish, secretly hoping for Quetta to chase this. So that they can blame the ONLY guy who tried to win the match for his team. Not Maqsood/Pollard/Dawson.

(Because Misbah made others not bat/get out! :salute )

It was a decent knock Hawkeye, but I'm sure you're taking the mickey with this thread :najam

Damn.

Misbah trending WORLDWIDE!!

A desperate thread this and what pressure? PZ were batting first, I would like to see the M do this in a tight run chase but nope, he will bat like his usual self in those situations.

New to this forum ...why does Misbah get so much hate here? He is a legend and an excellent batsmen. Very consistent too. Also an amazing captain and leader. I am one of his biggest fans.

And it's amazing that he can play well at 44.

Okay buddy, I know it's a difficult time right now.

Just something to counter the hate. :usman I know it wasn't the best knock in the world, but quite good considering his limitations and the situation the team was in.

Because as per the haters, Misbah made others get out and not bat. :salute

But it's okay, every legend has haters. Comes with fame.

I haven't watched the innings but it was 1 game. At least let him perform for a few games before doing banghra.

Gotta love the GOAT Misbah! :)) Silencing all those critics who said who couldn’t play at almost 45. Misbah is past his prime but the fact that he isnstill fit enough to play and score runs at this age is amazing, and admirable.

On a side note I thought for sure the OP would have been Major Sahab. :yk Shocked it wasn’t.

Peshawar might be battling for the last spot in this PSL if they keep on playing him.

Here we go again with the age old "if it wasn't for Misbah, we'd be all out for 100".

Heard it during all those "golden years" of our ODI team, and now we're going to hear it all during PSL.

The same "pressure" that Pakistan used to be under every time he came out to bat. The same "pressure" due to which he used to "rescue" us to 230 odd match losing totals.

Yet another inconsequential knock, the story of his life

His SR was higher than Umar Akmals. Haters will hate 🤦*♂️. Others around him especially maqsood cost the team an extra 10 Runs that would have been enough .

This knock, in isolation, wasn't bad. However, when such knocks are used to justify his performances for the Pakistan side, that is wrong.

What are you on about?

The guy had the highest strike rate in the Match

Which is irrelevant if the team loses. The age old argument about Misbah, might have taken his team to a ‘respectable’ total but it was pointless. Maybe if he had got out earlier instead of starting with 19 runs from his first 19 balls, someone like Sami or Hassan might have played a cameo and got them up to a better score. Or worst case scenario, they would have collapsed and .... lost... just like they did anyway.

Savak was secretly praying in that last over hoping for a QG win.

Of course, facts don't matter. :ua

Salute to a 44 yr old giving his team a chance, the lone wolf at the end.

Always a chance, never a win.

Clear example of blind ********* where you laud petty achievements and don't give a damn about the team losing as this post shows.

Yawn I didn't even watch the match and nor do I care much anymore about Misbah's inconsequential knocks now that he is no longer playing for Pakistan but I knew well in advance what the end result would have been.

Lol the only thing Misbah ul Haq has shown his entire life is how to play inconsequential knocks, how to play single handed match losing knocks from positions of strength and how to always end up on the losing side after batting for more than 24 balls.

Damage was already been done. Whatever PZ posted was always going to be below par. As he did during the Mohali game, 2013 CT and 2015 WC it was another of those consolation knocks after a flurry of wickets when the innings was simply beyond repair.

I should also remind those rejoicing the knock that Misbah had managed just 19 runs after 19 balls and then you wonder why batsmen at the other end were feeling the heat in trying to propel the run rate? - unlike Misbah unfortunately all their attempts to actually bat for the team were all to no avail.

I'm no hater I've just had enough of his failures:

1. 2007 WT20 - couldn't finish against Joginder Sharma
2. 2011 WC Semi - Mohali knock
3. 2013 - humiliation in the Zimbabwe series and losing every game in the CT during 2013
4. 2015 WC
5. 2016/17 - inept captaincy during the tour of Australia.
6. 2018 PSL - averaged 19 at a strike rate of 75 with a top score of 22

These are just brief highlights of Misbah ul Haq for what he truly is, a choker. There are many more games for Pakistan he has choked since debut as well.

Well, snowflake, perhaps you have no idea who's the most successful captain in our history.

Posts with zero knowledge or facts, not interested.

Can you please specify what criteria you are using to define success?

Also, your interest is the last thing I'm seeking with my posts :)

Plays another knock in vain.

You’re right, he’s still got it at 44. :afridi

This really isn't fair. You are forgetting the countless "rescue acts" he put up for the team. Dragging us from 40/3 to 230/8, giving the bowlers a chance only to lose by 6 wickets in the end. The lone warrior!

2007 stand out performer for Pak
2013 CT - Averaged 70 with the bat and Pak top scorer
2015- Averaged over 50 and top scorer again for Pak

He’s anything but a choker . His record is phenomenal in ICC tournaments, a shame he was batting with junk around him . Yes he’s not finished some games for Pak, but cut the guy some slack !

Misbah is an absolute legend and GOAT for Pakistan cricket. It's just unfortunate he couldn't have the likes of Babar and Haris with him on the tean, and he was stuck with flops like Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Khurram Manzoor, etc. who were all garbage.

absolute typical Misbah game - starts off very sluggish, but ends his innings with with a good score and healthy strike rate, only to lose the game

some things never change.. just go away already Misbah

Thanks to him, PZ was unable to make the winning score. Bad news for PZ, now Misbah will play all matches and will cost the team dearly.

He always had the options to pick them but he wanted players like Asad, Azhar, Sarfraz and Hafeez. Misbah at his prime had full powers on the selected squad.

Only in Pakistan and India can people hate guys like Misbah and Dhoni. Two of the greatest assets of Pakistan and Indian cricket, respectively.

If I was Misbah, I would play in exactly the same way at Mohali 2011 except I would like to have Jadhav, Raina, Pandya than the brainless Akmal, Afridi and Razzaq. The villain of Mohali was not Misbah but Akmal, Afridi and Razzaq who did not understand that they only needed to stay with Misbah till the end. Even 12 RPO in the last 5 overs with a full Batting Powerplay in hand but with Akmal, Afridi and Razzaq intact would've been curtains for India. But just a 7 Required Run Rate made them think disaster has already struck.

Misbah, time and again, has been showing that age is just a number for him. To have the fitness that he has at age 45 should put guys like Umar Akmal to shame. In terms of batting, it doesn't even matter if he scores 500 runs in the PSL or just 50. He's gone beyond that. Forever a legend of Pakistan cricket.

He had a strike rate of 153, the highest in the match, more than umar and kamal. So what are you talking about?

Misbah was a great competitor and a phenomenal player for Pakistan during their worst phase.. Seems like Pakistani fans are more content with getting out in first round like in 2007WC rather than losing in semi or finals of an ICC tournament..

Misbah wasn't the best player by any stretch however he did a great job for a mediocre team who pushed above its weight just due to his captaincy, batting and the imbibed team spirit..

Yea, sadly no point trying to convince them otherwise, people tend to be thick quite skulled.

Bring Misbah as captain and replace Haris/Babar. We need more experienced player. Drop Afridi for Sami as well.

Awesome, plain awesome to see him bat like he did yesterday! Brought back so many memories.... Here´s hoping that he provides us with much to cherish for the years after him. Misbah´s batting, his big hits, the criticism at the tuk tuk or his captaincy - all these things form a big part of my life in the 20s.

The six that he hit with a scoop over the head of the keep and short fine-leg, who else was reminded of the famous mistimed shot at Johannesburg in 2007? Sitting with my parents, I straight away uttered, "This is what he wanted to do that day 11 and a half years ago!"

All hail King Misbah! :salute

Dhoni won 2 World Cups for India with nothing bowlers where Misbah choke under pressure against good teams.

I'll never forgive him for the knock at Mohali. It was one of the worst innings I have seen and it was surreal to watch someone block ball after ball with the run rate high and climbing, meanwhile putting pressure on the batsmen at the other end to try to hit sixes with the few opportunities they got on strike.

He was decent in tests, apart from that tour to Australia where his captaincy was awful.

Our problem is some fans prefer of their favorite players over team performances whether they perform or not.

They close their eyes, and come here to show hatred without even looking at the facts.

Very well said and a balanced post.

People fail to realize what you just summed up.

As usual it ends in a losing cause. Nothing new. If he had any shame he would have retired when he was benched by BPL team even after being their captain. As they say some people are just shameless, Misbah fits the bill perfectly.

Our greatest captain ever lol. This guy is not fit to tie Sarfraz shoes laces let alone Imran. Some people are just deluded. There are quite a few.

He did the same with the Pakistan team. His fall started well in 2014. I remember Misbah was so bad that he had to sit out and Afridi had to captain in some games in UAE. That was the time he should have taken retirement but he forced his way into another world cup and not only that he also didn't want to leave test team easily. This is classless attitude.

I don't know why our players don't read their expiration date and be done with Int. cricket.

Go home Misbah. We need to see young talent who can serve Pakistan for years. You have had your innings, a good one too, but time to go.

I say this even as I know it's not your fault there isn't someone knocking down doors or that you are selected because you are good.

Simply that I am seeing 35+ year olds robbing Pakistan cricket of its future.
