Kumble goes for a double ton, while Chahan sadly fell short of a triple century.

Is this the worst bowling in a test innings?

Are there others you feel are worse?

I think the worse was that 800 odd bowled by Pakistan against England. Yes the pitch was a road but Pakistan got bowled out twice on it

Which match was this?

Has a bowler ever conceded 300 runs in one innings?

That pitch was so dead - even on Day 5 there was no spin or uneven bounce

So yeah no point blaming bowlers

Flat decks such as this should be banned. However there are various tactics inc field placing and bowling lines can secure wickets on flat decks . Who was the captain?

The 800 game was a shocking performance. Batting is equally to blame folding like a pack of cards on a phatta.

Sri Lanka 900 game both teams conceded high scores.

In the England match against us they also could have went for the record but decided not to.

The bowling was inept. Those wer the days of trundlers and mediocre spinners. Sachin was captain and equally insipid.

I remember this Colombo test

Day 5 started with big anticipation as Jayasuriya had crossed 300 and people wer excited to see if he could cross Brian Lara's 375. But within half an hour he got out. That was effectively the end of any interest in the game. Rest of the day was like exhibition game. Both sides just playing for formality

Sri Lanka could have crossed 1000 but umpires had enough and game ended

You will get these kind of scores if there is a patta track on the offer... bowling cannot be blamed every time.

Those who saw this Test know the pitch. Even the Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga himself was asked what are the positives he took from this Test. He said none. He also said that he doesn't want to see such a pitch prepared in Sri Lanka again.

Of course the Indian bowlers of the 90's were no better than me or other posters on PP.

England 800 vs Pakistan has to be the worst, a feat one of many achieved under Sir Shan Masood
I remember in those days you were campaigning hard against Shan so that Rizwan can become captain.

Babar and Rizwan scored a total of 50-60 runs all together for Pakistan on this road.

You are always pushing for the wrong things in life

There’s an interview of Murali where he wqs discussing how Rahul Dravid was angry at the SriLankans for making them field for three days instead of declaring after a large score.

Dont blame the Sri Lankans. Who wud want to declare early and spend the rest on the day bowling & fielding under the hot sun

Very glad 952/6 happened against India. :dav

I think SL should've tried to reach 1000 instead of declaring. LOL.

England scoring over 800 runs against Pakistan in Multan, that too at a run rate of 5.5, would certainly be top the list.

Don't forget that Pakistan was all out in both innings and England won by an innings.

It was humiliation for Pakistan at home

:klopp :kp

all time great offspinner also went for plenty in that match.. during those days SL had one of the flattest pitches going around. SL kept going as they knew there was nothing in the pitch didn't want to bowl on that.. i watched that match live and was really boring.. India played two days and they played three days.. i am glad such matches are gone

it was same through 2000's in SL. there is a reason why Sanga's test credentials are questions so much. They are all great players but were also aided by way too batting friendly pitches for few years

Does this count as one best self goals threads ever? Had to really ****hurt about some thing life to create a thread that backfires this spectacularly

lol you indians take yourself too seriously, nobody cares what Indians think this is a Pak cricket forum, get out more kid.

I never knew this match took place, so wanted opinions. 🤡

Jayasuriya and Mahanama had a 300 run partnership, it was mostly PTV days only back in Pakistan with dish TV settling its foot in households and games like these, masses will only get aware @9pm PTV news ala khabarnama with Cricket news at back end, majority was in complete shock listening that SL has mauled and ragged India like a discarded lamb wool with a score of 952/6

They behave like they are the center of the universe. :inti

They are cringy and entitled.

same bowling team did decently in the next test. India could've won it if they had shown more more intent. Only Azhar showed some intent to win the match. i remember vividly as i was a huge fan of Azhar during those days until he sold his country

You're the one who does India-India-India on 9.75 out of 10 posts, so in your world - India is indeed #1.

You also don't know multan test between Pakistan and England where Pakistan thrashed by bazballers that's doens't mean match was not happened you kids 🤡🤡

I am glad the record belongs to Sri Lanka and not India. :dav

Hopefully Root will break those Tendu's records too. All major records should be owned by non-Indians so that Indians don't become arrogant. :dav

Guess not much happening between the ears then. Team A, at one one its lowest point scores 540 runs and declares at an away venue and team B at home scores more. your focus is on the bowling.

Doesn't say much about your cricketing IQ, not that your other posts reflect well on your IQ period.

India should thank its blessings if Pak is filed with your calibre

Weird bunch think everything is a about them and every discussion is an insult.

A serious discussion unnecessarily derailed for no reason - I.e scorecard that looks the worst may not always be the worst.

On the contrary Pakistani posters were open and critical of their teams lack of performance, and actually gave context to why India didn't have the worst performance.

I will say one positive. Mahela Jayawardene had his debut in this test. What a point he came on to bat? He had time in the middle when there was no pressure and so he built his successful career. How is it for the SL batsmen these days? They play under pressure in debut.

Yes India should have gone for the win. But those days India was pathetic in overseas tests. So even a draw was seen as a moral victory

Actually India started off well with Jadeja and Sidhu going aggressive but on Day 5 Ranatunga went defensive. Field was spread out. Bowlers bowled down the leg side. Dravid & Sachin killed the momentum

There is a story that Tendulkar had no idea what to do with the defensive legside bowling. So after this game he developed a new shot - the paddle sweep & used it to great effect

My point was flat decks are a nightmare for bowlers but allowing nearly a 1000 runs is still poor. Use various field placings, bowling lines, lengths, pace variation etc.
