PCB’s domestic affairs committee is headed by Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh, a journalist who worked for an English daily in the past.

According to PCB website, the domestic affairs committee is headed by Mr. Shakil Ahmed Shaikh and comprises of Mr. Amjad Latif. Mr. Gul Zada, Mr. Ali Zia and Mr. Saqib Irfan.

Wasim Akram, who also coaches PSL franchise Islamabad United, did not clarify as to why he thinks Mr Shakil Shaikh is ruining the game through his position.

ISLAMABAD – Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram slammed the management of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for lack of planning, saying that a journalist was overseeing all the cricket-related issues who did not even know the basics of the game.

The veteran fast bowler, while addressing the business conference, blamed inefficient domestic cricket structure of first-class cricket and said that the existent system could not be produce quality batsmen.

“There is no planning by PCB and decisions are made over a phone call,” he added.

“I am ready for tips to the newly made ODI captain Sarfaraz Ahmed if the board wants this, However, I cannot stand outside the board with a placard,” he lamented.

PCB makes a lot of money from international cricket and Pakistan Super League, he said adding “A guaranteed percentage of those profits should be invested in domestic cricket instead of letting it rot”.

Wasim is absolutely right, what qualifies Shaikh to run domestic cricket in Pakistan ?

This is why we need a Director of Cricket role with someone like Misbah at the helm because I have zero trust in leeches like Shakil Shaikh to run the game as they have no interest other than self-aggrandisement in holding that position. He's never been through the domestic system and given its current dire state doesn't seem to understand its problems.

Nothing he says is not true, but enough lip service from Wasim, either stand up and take some responsibility and take a role with some accountability rather than just giving tips and advice. It's easy to give the advice but at no point have we seen Wasim take a role that can be appraised over a period of time and see some fruitful results. Either step up to the plate and do something or just shut it. Just making a tweet or a statement on a TV show doesn't change anything.

Shakil sheikhs past is very shady, he was known for blackmailing people around him for his own benefits. Infact many journalist in Pakistani media are known for doing this.

They dont even get paid, they get paid by blackmailing others.

Wasim Akram is entitled to non-criticism for everything under the sun related to cricket just by the simple fact that he picked up 900 international cricket. He doesn't have to be in the PCB to be a critic.

However Sethi is riding on the crest of a wave of the PSL, so he is on cloud nine and in favour.
