I think it is time for us Pakistani cricket fans to say enough is enough. I am not upset at our team losing the first ODI. Like many of us I am upset at the sheer cussedness of our team selectors and management. I have been following Pakistan cricket since 1960. Over the years the nepotism and unfairness keeps getting worse and more and more brazen. Players with connections keep getting selected, deserving players are cruelly ignored. I am sure many of us can come up with several examples of both.

Right now Hafeez is a glaring example and there is no sane reason why he is playing. In the last match youngsters showed that they are more suited to the modern game. Yet we keep going back to players who have seen better days. I have decided that the only way to get the message across is by doing something drastic. We can't vote with our feet as we could have if the matches were being played in Pakistan but we can decide not to follow the next match if Hafeez is in the team. I for one will completely ignore the remaining ODI's if Hafeez is in the eleven. I have appreciated Hafeez's contributions to the game and to Pakistan cricket but it is time to say goodbye. I hope others will join me in getting the message across. I realize some of you may consider this an extreme reaction and might say Pakistan could win the next ODI even with Hafeez in the team and even with a significant contribution by him. But that is not the point. Many of us are frustrated. My frustration has reached the point that after many years I am creating perhaps my second post.

Yes Hafeez is the reason behind all the problems related to Pakistan Cricket.

Well your username says it all.

Hafeez is a very big reason behind why our top order did so poorly in the last match. Despite years of international cricket he was unable to stand his ground and help Pakistan recover from the early wicket loss. He made the matter worst by losing his wicket within a handful of deliveries.

It's time for Hafeez to go.

He is the problem

A world class AR(yes with chucking), he shouldn't be in the team as a batsman alone.

I meant thread rather than post.

Yes we should except complete neutrality from a guy named "hafeezrocks" :ashwin

You've missed the point of the op bro. This isn't a Hafeez bashing thread, Hafeez was just given as a prime example at this moment in time.

This will be a good way to protest but a really hard thing to do for fans who have been cricket starved since months.

Hafeez is a big liability. Dont understand what he is doing in the team when he will be 39 in next world cup. Malik , who can bowl and is a better fielder, is enough for the senior quota.

You are right this would be hard. I even go to extreme lengths to watch any sort of cricket involving Pakistan or Pakistani players. Recently I watched the ten over tournament, the T20 in Pakistan, the BBL, under 19 practice games in Australia and New Zealand, so I am pretty much addicted--but I am willing to make a sacrifice. It is not just Hafeez it is just the wearisome pattern that goes on and on.

Don't think I reached a lot of people. Perhaps "an immodest proposal" would have worked better. Anyway, I am pretty serious about being fed up and having noticed that Hafeez is in today's game, I am not interested in following it or care whether we win or lose. Maybe next time I will go on a hunger strike. Just joking. Anyway, I have other things to do. Maybe watch replay of South Africa India test.

Only hafeez can play as fluently as today in the top 6 against spin AND pace. Whether people can swallow that or not is another story.

Take it haters.
Are you a relative or are you on some kind of salary? His performance yesterday means nothing. One or other of the seniors is bound to score once in a while. The problem is that the entire mentality of the selectors is wrong. We need to be forward looking. Nice that in our culture we respect seniors but we also have the tendency to idolize past performance. This is even the case with Sarfraz. Good luck to our ODI team. It's going to be painful watching. I personally will rather watch our under 19 team.

Lol, the thing I don't like is that sometimes people from only their mid/late thirties onwards are called "uncle" by people (non-relations) who might only be a few years younger.

Anyway, there should be a protest at the biased and nepotistic team selections. We're never going to compete at the the top level if we don't apply the best personnel or give merited opportunities..

Take what exactly? Another humiliating defeat?

Thanks you for demonstrating what's wrong with our mindset.

The success or failure of the team isn't important and neither does it decides whether an individual player did well or not. The only thing that matters is that your favorite player doesn't end being the guy with the worst performance. That's the reason why players like Malik and Hafeez have been able to survive so far.

I actually find it quite embarrassing when the senior players come to the crease and their shameful stats of averaging 30 are shown and the foreign commentators are giving their best to say something positive about them. Most of the time they too can't find much positive except for "lots of experience"

:)) Yes that is very painful. "They have lots of experience" is repeated ad nauseam whenever Hafeez and Malik come out to bat.

Thankfully they don't show breakdowns of those averages or it would be a lot worse...

This is never going to change, it starts with the government first and then to other governing bodies in the country and it could take years, might not even happen in our lifetimes, just plain unfortunate.

Don't expect miracles from this Pak side. Won't feel hurt or offended when we lose.
