"Pakistan-Afghanistan rivalry is greater than India-Afghanistan": Gulbadin Naib

Gulbadin Naib criticizes Mohammad Amir for mocking his bicep flex celebration after winning the ILT20 2025 final and expresses his disappointment while speaking to an Indian media outlet:

"I always say it is a gentleman's game. You should respect each other. If you don't show respect, no one will respect you either. He knows how much respect he got by doing this act. As a cricketer, as a human being, you should respect everyone."
He is right 💯

My biggest problem with Amir mocking his celebration is that Amir's biceps lare a joke. Atleast having something to show if you are going to do this celebration. Gulbadin on the other hand has some major guns!

Was the point of the celebration to mock Gulbuddin or show off he has biceps?

He’s still got more beef in his arms than Babar Azam has in his chicken legs
Because it's cricket. This kind of back and forth adds spice to the game. It's fun to watch. And the competitive spirit is part and parcel of the game.

What do Babar's chicken legs have to do with Amir's non-existent biceps? Why are you always trying to bring some irrelevant topic into every thread?

Country has been rocked by conflict and wars for decades, yet since the takeover by Taliban there have been little scandals, controversy, selection issues under Naseeb Khan (CEO) and Mirwais Ashraf (Chairman) and Jonathan Trott (Coach) from the outside.

Things seem to be running as smoothly as possible considering the lack of resources.

What is the situation from the inside, how do Afghans feel about ACB?

We dont know about what happens in Afg cricket because their fans dont really have an online presence, plus we dont speak dari/farsi/pashto while their fans dont talk in English online.

However there is a sifarish culture over there too. Mirwais Ashraf was a terrible allrounder, yet he spot in the team for years. GUlbadin being made a captain during the world cup of 2019 was a very controversial decision.

They have their issues, but we just dont know about them

Thousands speak Pushto and I have heard the Interviews on their official channel but I was wondering what the insiders think but you are right about scarcity of their fans.

Had a conversation with AFG fans on cricket , they are worse than die hard Indian fans and stubborn than self claimed socrates

They think that Pakistan is their biggest enemy atm. Sure why not. let's go.

You always have a reason for teams doing poorly against India. I am sure you have one for USA not being able to beat India lol My closest guess is this.
You actually get better recognition and better IPl contracts if you beat Ind. If US had beaten Ind in the T20 WC and say someone like Aaron Jones or Monank Patel played a blinder or if Netrawalkar or Ali Khan picked up 5fer's or wrecked Ind batting line up - they would have been overnight stars with IPL teams offering them contracts. Beating Ind gets you more eyeballs and IPL contracts than losing to Ind. Head and Cummins were absolute IPL faves after they were instrumental in beating Ind in the ODI WC final.

So question here for all you folks. How popular is cricket really in Afg ? As popular as it is in Pak or Ind ? Not sure if they other sports. They have a bigger pop than NZ, Aus, SL and WI. And I believe cricket is their #1 sport . But their online presence and TV audiences are very invisible. What gives ? Is language the barrier or access ?

Pakistan wants to remove all Afghan refugees from the country and they face expulsion in the near future, the Afghan embassy in Islamabad warned today (19 February).

The embassy issued a strongly worded statement about Pakistan's plans, saying Afghan nationals in the capital, Islamabad, and the nearby garrison city of Rawalpindi have been subjected to arrests, searches, and orders from the police to leave the twin cities and relocate to other parts of Pakistan.

"This process of detaining Afghans, which began without any formal announcement, has not been officially communicated to the Embassy of Afghanistan in Islamabad through any formal correspondence," it said.

"Ultimately, officials from Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that there is a definitive and final plan to deport or remove all Afghan refugees not only from Islamabad and Rawalpindi but also from the entire country in the near future," the embassy said.

Besides hundreds of thousands of those living illegally in Pakistan, there are around 1.45 million Afghan nationals registered with UNHCR as refugees. Authorities say those who are registered earlier had their stay extended until June 2025, and they will not be arrested or deported at least the extension expires.
