First of all, a Happy New Year in advance to everyone.

The Pakistan Cricket Team has had it's fair share of controversy but has prospered in several fronts in the latter part of the decade.

From winning the Champions Trophy of 2017 to almost qualifying for the semi-finals of the ICC WC 2019, it was a mixed bag of performances.

One thing which fans have learned from watching Pakistan Cricket is that we are never ruled out. We have an immense potential as a side to become one of the top teams in the world, and it was unfortunate to see that our performances took a decline in the 2019-2020 year period. I won't get into the details of that, but most people already know that selections and player techniques are the major areas of blame.

I started this thread to just share some of our individual expectations from the team as we embark into another decade of cricket.

I have listed a few long-term expectations along with a few short-term expectations:

1. Investing as much as possible into the domestic system to reap the rewards throughout the decade.
2. Making balanced squad selections based on merit and backing talent where appropriate.
3. Winning two major ICC events along the road.
4. Making the PSL into a larger brand to gain revenue and create better exposure of our talent on a better platform.
5. Identifying and developing a pool of upcoming youngsters who will serve the country over the course of the decade.
6. Along the way, increasing the salaries of domestic players should also be a focus to help them support their families and develop their own skills.
7. Using our legends and past-players to assist a new generation of U-19 Squads to perform better at the youth level (Winning at least two U-19 Trophies).
8. Creating a coaching panel and logistics team which can analyze, interpret, and develop our players through data and help prepare against particular oppositions.

These are my expectations throughout the decade, as long-term goals. We have a new selector coming, and hopefully, he can fix some of the selection problems that we have faced.

Good wishlist.

I’ll add:
1. More A team and U19 team tours per year
2. Qualified batting coach hired for U16 and U19 teams - the likes of Gio Collussi, Gary Palmer
3. Hiring of a data team (2-3 analysts), either directly from CricViz or equally qualified statisticians (who are hard to find in cricket) who can do video, pitchmap, opposition analyses

Pakistan will remain a mediocre side that is barely hovering above minnow level.

I expect the number of test matches to dwindle down considerably through the course of the decade, apart from series between the big 3.

I would like to see Baber, Rizwan, and Shaheen take the next steps to super stardom. We also need to unearth 2-3 support players for them who can play at the level they are right now. Assuming the new domestic structure is fully implemented and allowed to mature I expect we'll see some new blood coming out.

Very simple for me. I would just like to see Test cricket become more competitive. It has been quite boring over the last two years. One-sided series are rampant, matches don't go into the fifth day and visiting teams look completely inept. The only teams that are competitive at home and away are NZ, Aus and India. Also, more Tests for Sri Lanka, West Indies and Pakistan. That also means more three and four-Test series.

Wish: We become a decent side, at least restore our 2014-2017 glory. Or even better.

Fact: We'll remain a near-minnow Test side.

Sadly, there are no talented batsmen even in the FC lineup coming up. So, this is expected. Bowling stocks are DRY.

Shaheen alone is toothless.

Kicking out dehati egomaniacs and bringing in a proper professional national team management could be a good start.
