Test match lasted for 200 overs. That's 2 full days of play and 20 overs. Some times, teams even bowl 100 overs in a day.

I have seen outcry from PPers when some matches finished in SA within 3 days. Many posters blame pitch when it was simply ineptness of batsmen.

Here also, pitch was not bad, but one team batted poorly to not even play 100 overs after combining 2 innings.

Should be call this pitch a poor pitch ?

That series was played between two strong sides boosting high quality batsmen like VK, AB, Amla, Rahane and many more.

Here two mediocre sides with mediocre batting lineup and mediocre players are playing against each others. We should not expect much from them.

Agree, but I have seen SA pitch getting the blame when batsmen were not applying themselves and match finished within 3 days. This match got done in like 7 sessions.

This wasn’t a bad pitch. We sinply batted poorly.

The pitch was good for batting, and not too bad for bowling.

Agree, but many times pitches get blamed when visiting teams bat poorly in SA.

One of the most shameful defeats in a long time.

"That" was a horrible pitch with uneven bounce.

"This" pitch wasn't bad at all. There was lack of application on day 1 and afterwards one team having the momentum to overpower another - something common in tests.

Wasnt a bad pitch. A combination of re energised english bowling who got the best conditions to bowl. And a lack of application and technical deficiencies in the batting.

There was a clear lack of intent on our part. The players seemed disinterested or perhaps were over confident after winning at Lords. I fully expected England to win this one but not as easily as they did. Our amateur batting line up was fully exposed by a team who wanted to win much more. England proved that the pitch was fine for batsmen who were interested in playing. No surprises, as I said before we never do well in crucial tests.

Lol @two strong sides .
That strong southafrican side was hammered by this English team

Normal service Restored!!!
England must be scratching their heads..
How on earth could they loose a test match at home against this mediocore team..

It was a fluke victory by England which came because SA were in transition phase as one of their best batsmen abandoned playing test cricket. SA have again gone back into the transition phase now but now they have a strong opening lineup and arguably one of the best bowling attacks. Middle order, however, is one of the weakest. But I dont see Pakistan and SL batsmen surviving too long against a fully fit Rabada, Vern and Lungi in South Africa.

Historically as well, SA have always been a very strong side and have recovered easily unlike England who had their moments but havent been as good as SA have been, atleast from the days I started watching.

Happens often in Test matches played up North in May/June.

So true thats why ATG BATTING line up from India played full 5 day games last 2 times they toured.

Then who lost 4-0 and 3-1?

Up north Asian teams struggle 3 days is no shock.

Because this so called mediocre team has been winning tests vs them left right and every where for almost a decade now.

That was Indian team past their expiry date. I agree with last statement here. And Pak drawing a series in England is great effort by them given this is a young side. Full credit to them for that.

My point is Pakistan is a mediocre batting side. I dont think you would deny that. Bowlers did well though.

Just a poor batting display.

Expecting changes with the same faces is only insanity.

The seniors both in ODI and Test cricket need to go. And they need to go now.

The group of youngsters has shown that youth has steel nerves and ability to perform when it matters.

Well England's first innings lasted for 106 overs while our both innings combined lasted less than 100 overs.

The problem might not just be the pitch.
