Looking at the current pitches and the opposition Pakistan will face, dont you think Harris Sohail will be a better bet against the spinners as compared to Asif Ali. Yes we would lose power-hitting but do we need power hitting in this series ?

As we can see the ball is turning, Nawaz could be tried and he would strengthen the batting. Do not see the ball swinging in this asia cup

this what should happen, nawaz is more than capable batsmen as well


dont see the point in hairs, our batting will be very one dimensional, just because of one defeat we cant go back to 90s cricket

Haris could work for imam but that wont happen

Imam out, Haris in. That’s it. People calling for a spinner should realize Nawaz is average and no Kedar Jadhav.
 
Stop the HK team from boarding flight give them 2 openers pak citizenship.. better bastsman than whole of paks batting line up.
 
Shaheen Shah for Amir or Usman

Haris for Imam Ul Haq

Muhammad Nawaz for Faheem Ashraf if pitches are gonna be the same as today
 
Let Amir have a rest, he is clearly too tired to be playing cricket, look at all the energy and effort it takes the poor guy to bowl at 135kph - just let him rest , superstars like him should chill , let the youngsters do the hard work of bowling on the field.
 
There is quiet a few weaknesses.

Amir for a start is a major weakness if your strike bowler isn't doing nothing for last 10 games then you will have serious issues. Drop amir bring in Shaheen.

Shenwari doesnt really suit these pitches either drop him for a spinner.

Spinning slow uae tracks and we have only one specialist spinner whose great idea was that? Bring in nawaz don't have a choice he's he only spinner in sqaud barring shadab.

Drop Asif as sloggers are not required on these pitches and bring in Harris we need a batsman who can stay on the crease and play low risk shots.

Safraz needs a good hiding for his poor batting attitude what kind of example are you setting for other batsman to follow. He has thrown his wicket away far too many times like this and can't keep hiding behind his captaincy.

Have to play sensibly with the bat just like India today and Hong Kong openers showed rotate the strike wait for bad balls once bowlers tire in this heat runs will flow. Only Babar and shenwari got out to decent balls the rest out to mindless slogs

Junaid Khan should definitely be given a chance over Shinwari and Afridi, he has more experience and is likely to be better suited for these conditions. Also, Sarfaraz is not getting success as a batsman recently, maybe try him as an opener similar to the 2015 WC as he will keep rotating the strike and even provide a left/right batting combination, would also be good to see Haris Sohail get a chance.
 
Move Faheem up to 5 and play Sarfraz at 6 followed by Asif.
Drop Imam and play Haris
No need for a knee jerk reaction like dropping our best bowler for the last couple of matches in Usman.

People please dont hit the panic button after 1 batting collapse. This would happen and lets hope this is the one for the Asia cup. I still back them to reach the final!
 
I would go with same team. Imam will do good. One game and people wants haris sohail IN. Ridiculous
 
Afghanistan should drop Najibullah and play Sharafudin Ashraf. He is a very capable left arm spinner and ok lower order batter. Najibullah is slogger and they don't work on these wickets.

This will give Afghanistan 4 spinners and 1 specialist pacer and 1 pace bowling allrounder. If the batters score 220+ Pakistan will be in serious trouble.
 
Pakistan needs to have a proper spinner besides shadab. The 3 quicks are same height same speed.

Imam will keep his place even without hitting a 50. Still his stats are best for ODI openers and he has scored a classy 50 in a chase in this tournament.
 
How do we know that we'll face Afghanistan and not Bangladesh? Or does this have to do with the new schedule?
 
Why is no one talking about how our batsmen are going to takcle Mujeeb and Rashid??? I can see them both getting 5-ers against us.

yes, I would play the same lineup. maybe bench aamir, but then be ready to accept that you have to keep him out for the entire tournament.
Much as I dont want Imam to play, it will be unfair on him (even though I am 100% sure he doesnt have the pedigree to play against the bigger teams) to be dropped.

Afghanistan is a decent team who just beat Sri Lanka. If Pakistan can't bat against Jadhav, then I don't think they'll do too well against Rashid and Mujeeb either.

Beating India and Pakistan is a bridge too far for Afghanistan. They will beat them at their own game, but their spin attack can defend a good total against any non-Asian team on Asian wickets.

Nope. Schedule has been finalized with Bangladesh as B2, and Afghanistan as B1 teams. Results of tomorrow's Bang v. Afg will not change the schedule.

Apprently not. ACC is being unfair to both afg and bd and decided agf is seeded as A1 and bd as A2 regardless of the outcoome.

What's even worse is that one of the team from group B will have to travel to where india is staying and vice versa for pakistan. I think BD will play india so BD will have to travel to where IndVPak match just took place right after their game. Afg will stay where they are and Pak will have to travel there.

This whole schedule is a disaster in a nutshell.
 
Haris Sohail needs to come into place of either asif Ali of imam ul haq ( in that case make babar open) haris would do well true he struggles with spin but I'm sure he will be fine and he can bowl decent as well
 
So i am abit confused as on friday there will be two games shown live, so how does that work? How do we know which channel will show which game live? Since india also plays on friday, that could mean most channels will opt to show their game live. Helpp
 
What happened to Junaid Khan? Even against Afghanistan I am worried about our inept batting line up.

BD didn’t find a hotel in Abu Dhabi so they have base in Dubai.

Also there is little more than an hour travel time between the two cities.

Travel? What travel? Dubai is an 80-minute drive away from Abu Dhabi.
 
Go with an unchanged 11. Show some trust in the guys and give them enough safety to play their natural game. Show them that we win together and we lose together.

Harsh to Imam, but think we should go on a risk and play Masood who's confidence is probably high after a lot of success in domestic. And honestly I think domestic is tougher than Zimbabwe. Imam hasn't looked settled, and I'd like to see how Masood looks at the crease. We need players comfortable against the new ball and Imam hasn't been atm even though he's been excellent at converting once he's managed to stay in. If it were a series I'd stick with Imam, by and large he's done fantastic even if he's mostly played minnows. But it's a tournament, hence think I'd switch him out.
 
We can't drop Asif as it'll make our batting lineup too one dimensional. I would drop Imam and open with Haris.

Amir also needs to be shown that he is not an automatic pick, and he will be dropped if he can't put up consistent performances. He should be benched for Shaheen.

You clearly don't. That is not "travelling". Teams often have to travel more than that while staying in one location because the stadium is on the outskirts of the city and a 2-hour drive away from the hotel.

If players are complaining about an 80-minute ride in an air-conditioned bus, then they have no business playing cricket. They should go back to the comforts of their homes.

Am sure there is much more traffic from and to the stadium in Dhaka than there is between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Afghanistan has just returned from Ireland but apart from that both teams haven't played much cricket lately so I don't see an excuse for not playing their best possible XI
 
Open with Fakhar and Babar, Haris at 3, and replace Amir/Fahim with Nawaz.

You would't be singing the same song had Pakistan played a match and then go back to hotel. Change, pack their stuffs and hop on a bus to a different location, arrive at a hotel and unpack and prepare for next match. And telling me that I don't know the definition of travelling, might want to try this out ourself and then come and lecture me about it. This is an international match, not an IPL/PSL/ETC league match. Even India has to deal with this nonsense ... still won by 8 wicket.

Faheem should play as 3rd pacer, as in these conditions it doesn't matter that much that how good the pacer is.

Amir is a tough pick but for his experience and bowling in death overs..

Amir and Nawaz can open the bowling
Shadab and Hasan with Harris and Fahim in middle overs (Malik can chip in too)
Amir Hasan and Fahim all 3 can bowl in the back end.

batting has great depth with Nawaz (bowling AR) coming in at 9..
if we don't play 2 spinners we will lose in these conditions.
Shadab should bat above Asif Ali as asif can slog lower down the order.

I don’t see any difference between the batting style of Imam and Harris. Yes Harris would play a few lovely strokes on the off side but he is the James Vince of Pakistan, an elegant 30 and see ya later.

at least he can bowl and any sort of spin bowling here is a massive bonus

Love pak cricket.. one minute down next minute up.. hopefully tomorrow we able to win convincingly. Can't believe I am saying this while our game is against Afg:ssmith

Does that justify sacrificing an opener for a middle order batsman? Especially a batsmen who can hardly score in the 30’s with the strike of mid seventies?

Imam will only fail. He is garbage. We are better off going with 10 men rather than playing him.
 
Its a tough one for mickey. He can make major changes only after the game against Bangladesh (with all respect to Afghanistan). Because you cant make half a dozen changes on one bad performance. The only change I see going in playing Afghanistan is nawaz coming in for shinwari
