Afghanistan vs Pakistan: Who would you select, Shoaib Malik or Imad Wasim?

The 7th batsman has been the source of much selection debate recently, with many people believing it is a toss-up between Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim. Should Pakistan go with the experience of Malik, with his ability to bat well against spin perhaps coming in handy vs Afghanistan, or should they stick with the power-hitting ability of Imad Wasim at the death, who can also provide a few overs of economical spin? Shoaib Malik has been failing us for 20 years if we take out the decent run he had in the mid 2000s.

And Imad has been doing a decent job for us over the last few years. Plus, we need Imad to be our 5th bowler. I don’t remember the last time Malik bowled 10 overs.

Is a no brainer even if Imad didn't bowl. Malik adds nothing at 7. Imad consistently gets run there, whether people have doubts that he's really that good. The fact that he can function as a full time bowler, pushes him ahead even more.

A better argument would be Imad vs Asif as Asif can actually hit a bit down the order. I'd still go with Imad for bowling reasons, and simply Imad's more consistent and experienced. Asif's struggling right now and has no bowling to fall back on.

I'm not a fan of dropping players that are performing even if you think they will eventually tank. Wait it out till they do tank. Imad's been handy with the bat nearly every year he's played in international cricket, especially recent year. No point changing him now.
