Today, history was made. Afghanistan wins their first ever ODI against Pakistan, something they have been trying for many years.

Afghanistan always wanted to do this. Usuaully they would lose a game from a winning position due to panicking or getting over excited. But today it was Pakistan that panicked, and not once did the Afghans get over excited. A very mature performance by the Afghans and what a win.

This humiliation is also shared by Babar who is now the first and only ODI captain of Pakistan to lose to Afghanistan.

I am proud the way Afghanistan cricket has evolved over the years. Today, Pakistanis will not be posting racist comments against them. Well deserve win, history created in India

I called it. Pathetic Babar was gonna loose to Afghanistan. This could be seen from a mile away.

Nowroz Mangal started it, he couldnt do it. Than came Asghar Stanikzai, Nabi and Rashid Khan. But than came another guy called Hashmtullah and he did it, he beat Pakistan.

Well deserve win. The Afghan flag should rise high in the sky tonight.

A good sportsman ship by them. No fighting today, they were mature.

A blessing in disguise, Afghanistan has done us a favour. Now that we’re out of the WC, hopefully we lose the rest of the games.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing our newly looking squad for ODI’s in 13 months time.

Genuine question- what stakes do you have to be proud of the Afghanistan team?

And what a win, no fluke, no bad luck , just decent in the field and dominant with the bat.

5 years a go a minnow team today has made Pakistan look like a an ICC affiliate team, how just learnt how to bowl & field.

It may take a decade or two but Afghans will win the World Cup in the future.

none. Im happy for them, and you can be hurt about that if you want.

Im a fan of their cricket because i have been following their cricket from a young age. This team used to practise diving on a mattress and now look. I love the hard work these guys did. THey have no facility. Its a dream that is now a reality.

Should be normal business moving forward. Afghanistan have more talent, heart and desire. Pakistan cricket is finished. Zero talent, zero skill, zero mentality and a dark, dark future.

Pakistan cricket culture is rotten to the core and it will not change.

atleast pakistanis wont post racist comments on social media tonight

Embarrassing stuff from Pakistan. If Babar doesn’t get sacked as captain, then PCB are a bigger joke than I thought they were.

Afghanistan chased this target playing risk free cricket. Well deserved and congrats to them.

I guess it was a matter of time with Babar in charge following the humiliation against Zimbabwe in last year’s WT20.

Pakistan should focus on T20s. ODIs will be slowly phased out

Well done to Afghanistan, fully deserved it.

@Markhor, I think when Afghanistan was some 90/0 you congratulated them well in advanced, so well done to you as well.

Are we out of the WC now? We could technically still make the semis if we win all of the remaining games right?

Even the Afghan fans remained very stoic till the very end. It was a win they badly needed.

There was no need for any risk taking man. Every bowler offered at least one freebie in almost every over.

I’ve lost count of the number of half trackers and full tosses our spinners bowled

Afghan created history today by chasing 280+ in chennai pitch...and historically against pak who has only this loss after posting 275+ in wc matches

Let there be no doubt, this is a very dark day in our history.

Excellent win by Afghanistan. This wasn't a nail biter, like a few contest before rather an all out comprehensive victory. Hopefully wins against England and Pakistan should turn them into a very competitive side, cricket needs competitive teams.

Happy for them, sucks Pakistan was at the receiving end but it's sport so happens, especially against a forever inconsistent team like Pakistan. Ireland and Bangladesh sent Pakistan and India packing from 2007 world cup as well so all part of the game.

Great cricket by Afghanistan.

This is the lowest point of Pakistan cricket for me. Even when we lost to Bangladesh and Ireland - there was still some decent players in the squad and those were regarded as upsets. This wasn't an upset - this felt like the passing of the torch; ours flickering out to darkness and Afghanistan's burning brightly with evolution and elucidation.

I can deal with the loss - the nature of the defeat is what the problem is. 283 for 2(!) and without ever looking like taking another wicket. We got merked.

Afghanistan played more professionally then Pakistan and fully deserved the victory in the manner they chased without panick. Most of Pakistani fans knew how terrible Babar is as a captain yet PCB could not see this even after 4 years. The squad selector also caused this defeat as well as those who approved it

This thread should be congratulations and appreciation of Afganistan cricket team win against Pakistan .
Anyone can create new thread for political disscusion .
This is golden day for them .
What a day they chose to beat Pakistan in ODI .
The way they were chasing it was like any top rank team were chasing the target. No panic whatsoever .

Afghanistan played dominant cricket. From the start till the tend. They didn't panic.

Batsmen did the wonderful job they played risked play cricket with intent.

The chase was very methodical.

Congratulations on beating this Zimbabar's pathetic team.

A cricket match is not the place to bring this stuff up, very poor from the Afghans if this is true.
ok, than first educate Afridi who mentions kashmir at toss whenever he had the chance.

oh wait, such teachings are only for Afghans when they kick us

Shoib Mailk says that "It is was criminal from Babar side to bring Nawaz in the team, where as you making a player Imad who accuracy wicket to wicket is more than 80%, where is the formula to win in India. This the reason i always say that never make a super batsman or super bowler a captain because it' does not matter. We need a role players not the best players. India does not good players ranking ,however, now look they are the best team and Player ranking in WC matters 0, which all our players were chasing for ,where as if you look at 1 to 5 our all Batsman has the same style, which only suitable in Test".

Pakistan has made political statements in india game many times and we have defended it. So just because we got our butts whooped by them we are crying about political statement lmaoo
but this is just a game, this loss won't stop Pakistan from kicking out illegal Afghans residing in Pakistan.

Congrats to them. They played extremely disciplined cricket and didn't at any point get carried away. Their ruthless efficiency was brilliant.

On twitter, the phrase NamakHaram is trending by Pakistanis. Pathetic stuff from us....

Afghanistan have had a few near misses in past. But today was a brutal beat down on Pakistan.

Oh plz. Pakistan made comments that were racists. Now that afghanistan win we are finding a moral ground to stand on.
Please tell me which Pak player made political comments. Apples to apples you know.

100% deserving win for Afghanistan.

Out-bowled, Out-batted, Out-fielded, completely outplayed Pakistan.

Looked sharper, fitter and better prepared.

Afghanistan was clearly the better team today. Better strategies and execution - picking 4 spinners for the game, playing well during the PP, running between the wickets, etc. A well-deserved victory for them!
When the openers had a 100-run partnership at 6+ RR, Pakistan ran out of ideas. I felt Pakistan took Afghanistan lightly initially and then they got frustrated and panicked at the end.

Apples to oranges by bringing India into it. Political statements are extremely common when it comes Pak India cricket. Example, Dhoni and co wearing camo gear after that one incident.

However, Pak players have never made any such statement regarding Afg

lmao what a way to defend this. So its ok if Pakistan does it but not ok when someone else does.

This does not come even close to the Ireland loss.

Afg had a very good chance going in considering the conditions and Pak’s form.

The Ireland one, on the other hand, was a complete shocker.

Enough of this BS that it’s because of Pak that Afghanistan has cricket today! What a load of rubbish!

Hard work, commitment, dedication and talent is what got Afghanistan to where they are now and they owe Pak nothing, absolutely nothing!

This is all Afghanistan’s dedication that is paying off.

Pak does it because the other side does it too. Pak India have literally fought wars. Doesn’t make it right, but it’s a *** for tat situation.

None of the above applies to Pak Afg relation.

By your logic, tomorrow if Aus player makes a political statement involving Pak, he can say that Pak does the same with India. Dumb, isn’t it?

Afghanistan has a W/L record of 4-4 against Pakistan this year.

2 of the wins for Pakistan came in dead rubbers. While Afghanistan won most important matches of the World Cup and the Asian Games.

It was a shocker, an upset, absolutely but I'm coming at it from a different perspective. This is about the state of our cricket rather than a shocking loss.

The loss to IRL was bad but there was a decent team in there.

This loss to AFG today feels like we are finished. We are struggling to bowl teams out, conceding 340, 380 and another 280 today (potential for more if we had scored more).

One of our fast bowlers is giving up 15 rpo like its fashionable.

Our spearhead is blunt, we don't have a frontline spinner - just bits and pieces spinners averaging about 35 with the ball and barely 20 with the bat. The team is getting old with little to no future "talent" emerging.

Only player that I enjoy watching is Abdullah Shafique. Rizwan and Babar are notable Pakistani players in the global game but aren't playing meaningful knocks.

In the Ireland game, as bad as it was, we had historically good players, greats of Pak cricket (Inzi, MoYo, YK, Azhar) and/or players that would go on to represent Pak with distinction like a young Gul, Hafeez (he tailed off but started decently for us and repped the country for many years).

This team... doesn't hold a candle to that team, even if the loss to IRL was embarrassing of the highest order. This team is devoid of quality.

Let's be honest, this has been coming for a long time. Pakistan has been riding its luck against Afghanistan for years but that luck finally ran out.

Afghanistan have lost 4-5 nail-biters to Pakistan in this format and they outplayed Pakistan on all those occasions but didn't have that extra bit of luck in key moments.
