"After CT victory, this team has a different mind-set when it steps onto the field" : Azhar Mahmood

Azhar Mahmood, Pakistan bowling coach speaking to the media:"

"Camp is proceeding well as you can see"

"New Zealand conditions are always very difficult but the brand of cricket we are playing now, we are confident of doing well"

"NZ have match winningplayers and whilst we have won the CT, we cannot be complacent"

"We have some guys who have neverplayed in NZ before so apart from pitches, the weather conditions will also be a challenge"

"There are strong winds in Wellington so our bowlers will have to work on how they bowl there"

"NZ have p;layers like their captain Williamson who are game-changers"

"Our bowling has been our strength for the past 20 years so its not something new"

"Out batting has always had problems when we go out of the sub continent"

"Those who perform well away from home gain a good reputation and the boys are keen"

"Babar played well in those conditions last year and I hope that this will be a good experience for our young side"

"Anyone can get injured and in fast bowling, the chances of injury are higher"

"People just note the workload in Tests, they dont realize that even in practice, bowlers put in so much effort"

"Yes, we need to protect out bowlers and this is why we have a bench-strength which allows us to rotate our bowlers"

"We saw that in CT, where Rumman stepped in for Amir and then Shinwari stepped in for Amir in Sri Lanka series"

"Hafeez not bowling will be a big disadvantage for us, especially as he is World's No 1 ODI All-rounder"

"But we have Shoaib Malik and Shadab Khan in the spin department"

"If Haris plays then we will get an extra bowler too"

"Wahab is an integral part of our Test team but if you looko at his recent performances in ODIs, its not that good"

"When you are unable to perform and we have a few good bowlers as back u[p then obviously we will select such players"

"This team has a different mind-set when it steps into the field"

"I always say that we never just lose a game, we only learn from that experience"

"We dont play enough Test cricket and if play more of it, then it will be useful"

"If they have drop-in pitches in NZ, then they will be flat"

Encouraging that he mentioned Haris.

A no brainer really, Haris has to play above Hafeez. His left arm off-spin is just a bonus, he is simply too good a batsman to be left rotting on the bench.

I hope the NZ series will not prove to be an eyes opener for Pakistan and its fans. It will be really tough on those small grounds with a lot of accumulators in the squad.

Harry absolutely has to play, but again he is someone who is more of an accumulator and we have plenty of those already. I would have liked Maqsood atleast put in the squad considering the form he is in and his ability to clear the fence.

Hafeez, Malik and Sarfaraz are the engine of our batting line up and unfortunately only Malik has the ability to go hell to leather when required.

Maqsood, Umar Akmal and Shehzad were brutally exposed during the world cup 2015.
Maqsood's form in the recent t20 cup was heartening but he isn't consistent enough to bat at 4 in ODI's yet sadly IMO.

I see Babar scoring at least 1 century in the ODI series but Hafeez isn't a batsman who tends to play at a low SR like people make him out to be. NZ is definitely a team that he can play really well against so I'm not too worried about him. Only batsman I'm worried about is Azhar since he'll be leaving a lot of balls like he does in Test cricket. Amir really needs to step up with the ball now because he has that ability to run through sides and he should not pass up on that opportunity.

Maqsood has been a big failure. Though he did show a lot of promise earlier in his career on bouncy SA pitches.

Don’t you think all of us are expecting too much of Haris Sohail. The guy has not a single hundred or a single match winning knock and yet every Pakistani is singing praises of his importance.

For me if Pakistan wins the series, it will be due to Al round heroics of Shadab Khan.

The injection of youth and fresh legs has helped a lot. Guys such as Hassan Ali, Shadab and Fakhar Zaman have been brilliant. The likes of Raees and Faheem showing good promise. Need to stay away from the old tuk tuk, play the buddies/seniors type setup from the last few years.

Everyone is just good at giving out statements.

Mindsets don't change just at a drop of a hat, they need to be consistent that is when it will be seen how much a change of mindset it is.

We said the same before CT.

There is a change in Pakistan ODI team's outlook and he is just commenting on it.
