This has been a pretty rough week or so for PDM but the writing seems to be on the wall.

Economy under the pump, people not happy, 2 provinces under PTI etc

What are their next options?

Next safe option is just to sit at home absolute annihilation 3 months of humiliation and an abject surrender

They need to seriously replace Maryam and Hamza with more experienced leaders like Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal e.t.c. people who are reasonably respected and have given loyal service to the party. So far Maryam and Hamza have done squat for the party and in fact the fortunes of the party have declined horrendously under them.

it will never happen. Maryam, Shehbaz, Bilawal are never going away. Their elders have always aimed at making these parties their political dynasties. Why would they undo all their "hard" work and let others loot and defraud the people of Pakistan?

They will simply slink back, make new alliances, grease the palms of those who matter and get back in the government. This fight is never going to end as long as the people of Pakistan do not completely reject the dynastic thieves and criminals and strangle them for every single penny they have stolen. Only a long consistent assault on them will make them realize their children and grand children cannot get into the family business and they are better off living in the UK or the middle east.

Next for them is to get IK banned for the funding case. The case isn't Foreign funding( the ECP admitted that recently) but one of prohibited funding. The ECP will give a lollipop and send it to these crooks, who will try ban the PTI( although the under the law they cant), then the case will end up in the SC. As I said the SC isn't trustworthy after it's badniyaati over the Presidential reference and may well under mafia duress, ban IK

I think public pressure that IK has been able to generate has given these crooks pause. Losing Punjab is huge. Effectively now the Federal Government is limited to 20 sq kms.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the National Assembly session on Wednesday.

During his speech addressing the session, the premier spoke about the country's economic deterioration, challenges faced by the government in rectifying the state of the economy and the damage caused by the recent monsoon rains across Pakistan, and ensured the protection of the constitution, among other issues.

PM Sharif told the assembly that the coalition parties have mutually decided to save the state, and not do politics.

“All parties in the coalition government selected me. I knew that the Prime Minister Office is not a bed of roses but that of thorns,” he said, adding that he had several opportunities to become the PM in the past.

“I was offered to become PM by a president in 1992. Musharraf also offered the same position. When Nawaz Sharif offered to make me the PM, I chose to serve Punjab. I rejected illegal offers in the past. I will not divulge the secrets in my heart,” he stated in his address.

The future?
Lined up against a wall....

Mind you they're all so stupid and it reminds me of a joke...

Three convicted politicians were lined up against a wall and about to face a firing squad.

The first politcian, being an ex PM and actually having studied shouted "earth quake", everyone ducked including the gunmen and he quickly jumped over the wall and ran away.

The second politican, a a former practicing doctor, took the lead of the previous politcian and screamed "tornedo", everyone looked around giving him to opportunity to climb the wall and escape to his freedom.

The third politician, no formal education, corrupt to the core and having stolen billions from the poor people of his country thought he would also follow their lead. So at the top of his voice he screamed "FIRE"...

I really hope they bring Nawaz back now so that the slogan "mian jaddoun aaway ga, lagg pata jaavay ga" is set in action.

Dollar is at rs 240 these goons have totally messed up the country for good. Dont know how any sane person can take them seriously anymore. I am concerned about the common man and what they must be going through right now.

The final nail in coffin , general elections battering.

Imran Khan came into politics with no experience, with a new party with no real support. People thought it was some sort of joke IK beleiving he could ever win more than a dozen seats let alone become PM.

Years later, his 3 biggest opponents - Zardari , Mushy & Nawaz are in what is a type of exile , sat outside Pakistan while IK is making a mockery of those left back home in PPP and PLMN.

A huge loss in the GE will mean , they will all run away meaning the death of these two parties.

In all fairness IK would not be winning much had he not taken help of the smart political minds that were already ruling.

His party might be new but reading the wikipedia of his donors and cabinet they are not necessarily new.

Ofcourse IK is a great orator and that makes him a top politician who knows how to portray himself but those political machines in the backend were still required.

It think thats an oversimplification.

I think more than anything, its Imran's resilience and the courage of conviction that he is truly on the right and all others, the mafia has united against him, that has resulted in his success. He is like the Terminator who just refuses to die off and keeps coming back.

Oversimplification would be he did all this on his own.. that alone is my point.

Even now Mr.Elahi is not from PTI and is neither core party member but yet his victory in Punjab is a big win for PTI.

That’s the same guy who somehow knows how to win.. just an observation.

Nothing gets done at that magnitude by one man, but its the leadership of the one at the top and his character that matters. Simply crediting his successes in this struggle down to others is an oversimplification or an unjust dismissal.

These players have been in politics for ages but when crap hits the fan, they never were able to help either PP or PML-N leadership to stay in Pakistan and fight the tough battles. If you were Pakistani, you would know what I am talking about. They Bhuttos/Zerdaris/Sharifs/Altaf/Musharrafs, etc tuck tails and run to London or the Middle East at the first sign of trouble.

Pakistan needed a new type of governance, new party and a new leader who isnt part of a political dynasty.

Over the years, Ik has shown great determination along with policies which are of a social type, for the people not for foreign nations or the elite of Pakistan.

People say Pakistani democracy is a circus, sometimes a fair assessment but one of the few genuine democracies now since a new party with a new direction. The people have a real choice unlike in UK or US where both parties have the same policies, only different rhetoric.

IK has also bought along a lot of senior leaders in party who are now well respected. May God him IK a long life but whatever happens, now there will be others to take up his dream.

His life was already legendary but his political career will go down in history because he changed what most thought was impossible.

I’m not disagreeing that he is defn the best option atleast to me as an outsider compared to the dynasties.

Just that some compromises are needed.

Reacting to the coalition government’s move aimed at instituting requisite judicial reforms after the judgment in the Punjab CM election case, former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed on Thursday said that the Supreme Court’s sovereignty is protected by the Constitution.

A day earlier, the National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution seeking the formation of a special parliamentary committee to carry out judicial reforms. The development came after PM Shahbaz Sharif and other ruling parties criticised the top court over its ruling in the CM election case.

In his hard-hitting speech, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari held the judiciary responsible for the state of democracy in the country and accused it of validating all the military takeovers in the past.

Responding to the government’s resolution, Sheikh Rasheed stated, “The SC’s powers can be enhanced but not curtailed.”

Lashing out at the coalition government, Rasheed said, “The SC was called the killer judiciary.” Supporting the judiciary, the leader said, “The SC cannot be made pocket watch or hand stick.”

Reacting to Rana Sanaullah’s statement, the former minister said that the incumbent government could not impose the governor's rule in Punjab.

He also criticised the coalition government over its failure in controlling the value of the dollar. The former minister said that the dollar surged to a record high of “Rs250" against the local unit and forex reserves fell to "$7 billion".

Sheikh Rasheed predicted that PML-N supreme Nawaz Sharif will not return and claimed that the general elections would be held in the country in October and November.

So after the debacle of bielections and fiasco of CMship PDM now considering to accept some resignation of PTI MNAs would be another own goal, PTI is in full wave nothing except the nature forces can stop it

So after the debacle of bielections and fiasco of CMship PDM now considering to accept some resignation of PTI MNAs would be another own goal, PTI is in full wave nothing except the nature forces can stop it

They are now doing this in the event pti decides against resigning, returning back to the NA and then launching a no confidence motion against Shahbaz, allies have communicated to pti that they are ready to leave the PDM alliance

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) — a multi-party alliance with representation of ruling PML-N — on Thursday recommended to the government to send a presidential reference to the Supreme Court seeking its interpretation of Article 63-A of the Constitution by a full-court bench for “a way out of the prevailing constitutional and political crisis.”

Announcing key decisions taken by the PDM following a meeting today, alliance chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said the meeting decided that the recent interpretation of the Article 63-A by a three-member bench of the apex court while ruling on Punjab chief minister’s election had fuelled reservations and triggered a constitutional crisis.

“The political parties have expressed reservations on the observation of three judges of the top court [on Punjab chief minister election] which complicated the matter,” he said.

He said that sending a reference to the apex court was now essential in view of widespread differences of opinion among different circles as well as legal experts, media and the civil society.

Fazl also said it was unanimously agreed that the government would complete its term and the elections would be “held on time”.

“Under the resolution, it is also our demand that the ECP must immediately announce its verdict in the foreign funding case, which has been lingering for eight years,” he told journalists.

The PDM chief said the ECP must fulfill its legal, constitutional responsibility without any delay, adding that the electoral watchdog was currently “under a cover of mysterious silence”.

He claimed that ample evidence was available against the PTI, saying the law must take its course and a verdict must be delivered at the earliest.

He also said the “mess created by Imran in three and a half years cannot be cleaned in just an year.”

We will clean his mess in the next five years, the PDM chief claimed.

“Imran must also remain within his limits. His propaganda is based on social media gimmickry. We will take decisions with unanimity and move forward,” Fazl said in response to a question.

He also said the PDM meetings will continue for days to discuss problems faced by the country.

Speaking on the occasion, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said the plea for a full-court bench was rejected by the Supreme Court to “facilitate Laadla” (the blue-eyed) and deliver an unjust verdict to dent the government.

“The three-member bench of the SC has already become controversial,” she said. “Our 25 MPAs were given to Imran and Chaudhry Shujaat’s 10 MPAs were also provided to Imran. This was the mistake and misinterpretation,” Maryam claimed.

She accused the SC bench of violating the Constitution, adding that “if you think we will accept this decision, we won’t”.

Maryam said the coalition will not allow Imran to constantly “operate as a bully and abuse of his opponents”. “We will not let that happen.”

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Thursday accepted the resignations of 11 MNAs belonging to the PTI.

The PTI lawmakers had resigned en masse on April 11, two days after former prime minister Imran Khan was ousted from the top office after the no-confidence motion moved by the joint opposition in the parliament against him succeeded.

Currently the total number of MNAs who had resigned stands at 131.

The confirmation of the acceptance of the resignations was issued by the NA Secretariat, which issued a list.

It is not clear as to why the resignations of only 11 MNAs have been accepted by the speaker.

Ali Muhammad Khan, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Shaukat Ali, Fakhar Zaman Khan, Farrukh Habib and Ijaz Ahmed Shah are among the lawmakers whose resignations have been accepted.

Jamil Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Akram Cheema and Abdul Shakoor Shad’s names are also on the list.

Dr Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari and Shandana Gulzar Khan, who were both MNAs on reserved seats for women, will also cease to be members of the lower house of the parliament.

The coalition government has started mulling over the imposition of governor rule in Punjab after the success of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to regain power in the province, citing sources, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The federal government prepared another plan to weaken the PTI government in Punjab and started mulling over the imposition of governor rule in the province.

Sources said that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders started consultations for giving a major blow to the PTI government and denotifying 10 lawmakers of the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q).

They need a 2/3rd majority to do this or presidential order, I might be wrong

Govt to be overthrown by Sept 10: Fawad
fascism is being exercised in Pakistan because ‘it is a minority government, says Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Central Vice President Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the imported government will be overthrown by September 10.

Talking to reporters outside the Islamabad High Court, he noted that the imported rulers had been shaken since the first rally of Imran Khan in Rawalpindi and a fake FIR of terrorism had been registered against him.

He explained that Imran Khan said legal action will be taken against IG, DIG and magistrate, whereas Rana Sanaullah, Attaullah Tarar and other PMLN people openly threatened the administration but no action was taken against them.

The biggest censorship operation in the history of Pakistan, he pointed out, was launched against the media to establish the monopoly of some media groups. Fawad said the Islamabad High Court had granted protective bail to Imran Khan. “We will also file a petition to end the FIR in this regard, as this FIR has no legal status, so it should be quashed.”

He said after the report submitted by the jail authorities to the court, the torture of Shahbaz Gill had been confirmed. He said people came out all over the country against the arrest of Imran Khan adding that the PML-N must have now known that if any extreme steps were taken against him, then there will be a strong reaction from the people.

Fawad said fascism was being exercised in Pakistan because ‘it is a minority government. “Coercion and bullying is used to maintain the minority government; there is no moral justification for this government,” he added.

The rulers, he said, had created more enthusiasm among the people with their frustration adding that the power will be returned to the people of Pakistan. These steps against Imran Khan are being taken only to keep him away from the public; no one’s voice can be suppressed in this era of social media, he added.

Talking to media, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said if obstacles were created in the way of Imran Khan, the PTI will fight it legally. Qureshi claimed that the government had filed an FIR out of political confusion and increasing popularity of Imran Khan, and all this was done to create panic in the country.

He pointed out that people in every city of Pakistan had recorded their peaceful protest. Qureshi said after appearing in the Islamabad High Court, they had applied for protective bail and the double bench accepted Imran Khan’s protective bail till Thursday.

Qureshi said the imported government appeared nervous and wanted to impede Imran’s mass contact campaign, adding that this was against democratic traditions and this did not happen even in dictatorship.

“The people of Pakistan are with Imran Khan. After Punjab, the people of Karachi have also stamped his narrative; we got a spectacular victory,” he maintained. He said the imported government should give up its stubbornness and hold elections instead of making the country a victim of political instability.

“During our time, the media was free and there was no restriction on freedom of expression. The imported government also tried to influence the social media during Imran Khan’s speech at the Rawalpindi rally. Pakistanis are keeping an eye on every incident happening in the country; they are now more politically aware of the things,” he contended.
