What's new

Ahmed Shehzad at his best!

Ahmed's transformation is remarkable. Not this PSL only, in last 2 domestic tournaments, he was by far the best batsman.

MMHS what do you think he changed in his game?

Nothing against Shehzad and his fans. I see the same flaws and limitations in his game. I don't see him succeeding against international competition.

And no one cares what you think because you aren't the chief selector and if you've seen Inzi today he already told that Shehzad is the guy for wi tour...
The guy has performed in domestic recently and now in psl as well so deserves a chance if he is unable to perform in international then thats our mediocrity that we don't have anyone else outscoring him..

I don't have a problem with him getting selected. He deserves it.

Brutal innings no doubt! I will still to claim he is the best unless he performs well at international stage.

Checked scorecard. 71(38). I couldn't believe my eyes. Has he improved his stroke making? In any case he deserves his place back since there is not much competition for openers in Pakistan.

I don't think, there is too much in technical aspects - I have seen Ahmed from his U19 days. He always had great shot making ability, timing & lots of shots- sometimes too many shots & that often resulted his downfall due to poor shot selection. He used to time it wonderfully, but straight to fielders, some times his timing was too good to rotate strike as it reached fielders too early. T20 is not the best place to judge if his placement has improved or not.

But, I am sure there is a big change in his attitude - on & off the field. Always a bit cocky, but now his words are more meaningful & his shape indicates that off the field he has tried to maintain it. His biggest change I see is he is trying to play his shots - previously, I found him often playing selfishly which actually restricted him. His previous game was that unless he has played at least 50 balls, he'll cost his team. The biggest change I see is he is playing freely & actually going for his shots, which he has in plenty.

To his support, I think main reason for his downfall was bad company - he thought his spot was secured in the team (it was indeed in all 3 formats, until that head injury), which might have made him complacent. Also, recent history of treatment to young PAK players, who played aggressively in top order, didn't give confidence to Ahmed - Umar, Jamshed, Maqsood ... one by one got dropped while Azhar was made ODI Captain & Asad played 50+ ODIs. This might have influenced him to try to stick in there rather than actually score runs aggressively.

Anyway, this is 3rd tournament in a row that he has been outstanding, by far better than anyone in 1st 2 domestics, therefore he deserves a chance. Few months under Arthur & Sarfraz, I am sure he is good enough to amend his reputation.

MMHS Did you see Shehzad innings against NZ in WT20 2016?

He is so frustrating to watch when he plays those dots.

He will fail at international level he is not good enough but yeah he should be selected for windies tour he has been performing at domestic level

That was past, since then, there is a change in his game. Also, he is not 35 that can't modify/adjust his game. If dot ball is an issue, then instead of trying to rectify that (which is best case scenario), he could have tried a 2nd option as well - the Sharjeel route. Definitely, he can match most PAK players shot by shot, but never tried that route.

Clueless Inzi is selecting him so we can cry all we want.

The most undeserving player to play for the country!

What a mediocre batsman this guy is. He will obviously get selected but I wonder how his fans will justify his failures against Andy event bowling lineup

Not a pitch for stroke-makers. He has earned his selection, not interested in analyzing every innings. Let's see how he does under Arthur after 5-6 months. One thing is crystal clear though, he is amongst the best we have.

I expect him to score heavily everywhere and against everyone. Just except

1) In pressure situations
2) Against high class bowling
3) On pitches that are not pancake

Him and kami both are bottlers. When the going gets tough, both of them get going towards the pavilion.

Pathetic shot to get out today. Shehzad fans will now go into hiding.

So which opener in Pakistan isn't a bottler then. Shehzad and Kamran has shown for 2 PSLs running that their ain't anyone better then them in batting and regarding bottlers, don't see anyone better in that regard too.

Nothing wrong with the shot. He was never in position to execute it and neither is he capable. Once his front foot' threatened with a bit of lateral movement, he's pretty much a walking wicket because he can't put away balls outside his zone.

He is/was mediocre and will remain mediocre.Just not good enough in w.indies he will struggle big time

also nothing changed in his approach of playing for himself. team jaye. In other words selfish.

P.S: I also dont have anything against the man or his fans. Dont know the right word would be apart from selfish.
