Yes its a dead rubber, yes its good to try other youngsters. But why drop the one guy short of confidence, especially when he scored 27 off 23 last game and when Shahzad scored 89 off 55 at the same venue against a much better bowling attack than the current Sri Lanka.

To me, this unfortunate and a bit nonesensical. Im not asking for Fakhar to be dropped instead due to his poor performances of past, but this was a good chance to rest Malik and Hafeez. Why is Shahzad being dropped when its pretty clear that he would have done well on his home, flat track?

So just because an out of form and struggling player scored runs at a venue last time he should be picked?

Unbelievable

Not to mention he was the 2nd highest scorer for us last game.

But this is how Pakistan cricket works sometimes.

Considering it was only 2 games ago since he became out of form and poor - then maybe yes?

Poor form, poor attitude and testing bench strength, don't see an issue with him being dropped.

Fair point, but I know in the past India have selected Yuvraj and Sehwag no matter what form they are in when it comes to playing against Pakistan. Horses for courses, and Im not so sure what exactly he did wrong in the last T20 do be dropped.

Umar Amin is a middle order batsman who is making his debut. But he had to open despite having 'senior' Hafeez who has opened many times in the past.

Seniority culture in Pakistan really doesn't help develop younger talent.

Why would you not want your bench strength to be tested in a dead rubber? Amin has earned this and deserves a go for toiling on the domestic circuit for a while now, we shouldn't be selfish based on our favourites being dropped. Shehzad has clearly struggled for form generally and he will still be around the squad but some time away from the game can be of benefit to. We don't select a batsman if he's a 'Lahore' or 'Edgbaston' specialist, we need to factor in their recent form and also look at the long term to.

Maybe you've not been watching his batting recently?

We are mixing up different formats.

Yes he struggled in the ODI's but what is the basis for dropping him in T20's?

Was the 2nd highest scorer last game and scored 89 two games ago.

Bro it was 2 T20I games since he scored his 89 off 55. You cant seriously axe the guy because he struggled in two t20i's in between

He was finding it really hard to make it into the team despite his recent efforts and potential, this is a golden opportunity regardless and one he should relish, make the most out of it because it may not com again. We complain when a player is not in the team then moan with regards to their position etc  trust me it could be worse and am sure Amin has absolutely no issue opening, everyone has to start somewhere and this is something he can build on

bhai why the axe has to fall on younger players? In a dead rubber games you always rest your 'seniors'.

I wanted Umar Amin in the team too. I'm only criticizing dual standards in Pakistan. Ahmed Shehzad has done well in his last 3 T20s than Hafeez has done in his last 7 consecutive games in one month. Despite Ahmed Shehzad goes and senior retains his spot. This culture needs to go. Unless Hafeez is really really a high caliber performing senior player he can't get such a royal treatment.

He's been rightly dropped. Amin has been scoring runs in domestic whilst Shehzad hasn't done anything spectacular since his recall to the international side. Amin deserves a chance.

I like you Rana and I've never been overly critical with regards to shehzad even when he performed well but Amin is a decent prospect and it's a good move that we're giving him a chance here. Besides those T20's you speak off he had struggled for form in ODI's to and that can translate to other formats as well, he made 27 in the last game but it was hardly a mind blowing innings; look the management seem to have a lot of faith in him and he will come again, but this is a dead rubber and it's good for us to test our bench strength for the long term as well.

Have you seen batting Hafeez in his last 7 games?

He's looked better than Ahmed Shehzad and you may not have noticed but Hafeez has been bowling well too.

Rana like MRSN said, Hafeez is a players who's selection you should be more worried about.

OP has some sort of agenda against Fakhar.

Read all my posts very carefully. I rate Fakhar very highly, ive gone on record to state that that Fakhar is very much a candidate to score a double hundred in ODI cricket. I want this guy to propel upto new heights. Read the original post again, it has nothing to do with dropping Fakhar and not including Amin. I said clearly that we can afford to rest Hafeez and Malik for this match.

Excellent decision to drop Shehzad. Hopefully that's back of him.

Shehzad needs to go back to domestic and get back his form and confidence back. Too many in form replacements available right now.

Thinking like this is exactly why we never used to see the end of Kami, Wahab and other ttfs. Shehzad has been incredibly poor for a long time now and management isnt scared to try new faces.

Nothing special done by both of them they could have given chance to a youngster who could attack aggressively with Fakhar..

That wont be an issue, he will be amongst the top 5 runs scorers in the PSL .

He was in poor form in the current T20I series as well as the preceding ODI’s.Deserved to be dropped.

He deserved a place in t20s. fakhar should have been dropped. Fakhar just had a fluke hundered and we have to bear him now for many years to come. useless sloger.

Backwards thinking... we should drop Hasan Ali and bring back Wahab as well!

He played well today. Fakhar should not have been dropped, Hafeez or Malik should have been rested

Umar Amin deserved a chance from a while and better to drop Shehzad in a dead rubber. Nehow as for his dropping we have to look at his collective poor performance in ODIs as well as T20s. It’s clear he’s out of form so better to give him a bit of a breather.

Umer Amin played decent today but he is a run a ball type T20 player. Doesn't look to take advantage of the fist 6 PP overs.

Sarfraz should open with Fakhar in T20s. He is being wasted at 6.

Some of these fans will support their player no matter what. Support Pakistan and not individuals, especially someone not as incompetent as Shehzadi.

Anyone arguing/debating for Shehzad's selection especially based on his continued absymal batting since getting hit in that test against NZ...should be chittrolled in public :yk2

Seriously speaking, he dous not rotate the strike, he can barely hit any shots except the cross batted hoicks, gets partners run out while barely paying attention to the game (as if he thinks being amongst mere mortals on the pitch is all he needs to do), he gets bogged down all the time whenever there is a facing a half decent bowler etc.

He needs to go back to domestic and get rejuvenated by trying to add some new shots to his batting or else he will be warming the bench a lot more or not even picked soon!

Shazad is this generations Farhat. He will be around for another 10 years, never good enough to stay in the team consistently but never bad enough to be totally dropped.

So happy for Umar Amin. Beginning of a new hero, end of an old villain. A lot of us have been waiting for him to open again in national clothes and he didn't disappoint

if Shehzad would have played today, we would NOT have learned anything new (regardless of his performance)

with Amin, we learned quite a bit. He's now a real contender for a top order slot in the ODI / T20 teams along with Haris Sohail and Imam ul Haq

I seriously don't like Shehzad but I wouldn't have dropped him for this game. He done OK in the last match and has been okay in T20s recently. That being said, at least Umar Amin got a chance and he done OK I guess.

Did more than OK

Shazad has been struggling all limited over series and odi are an extension of t20s They arent altogether different

If a guy crawls along at 70 strike rate in odis how good is going to be in t20s

We need to look at other options because tbh he doesnt inspire any confirdence the way he plays
