For the first time in a long time, I'll be putting my neck out there while predicting something that I think will most probably occur out of nowhere this coming Sunday. Yes ! you've heard it correct, Ahmed Shehzad will play the innings of his life and guide Pakistan to victory - I am most certain of it.

As improbable as it may sound and of whatever I saw of him during the 1st warmup (from those private social media streams) it seemed that he was actually rotating the strike and at least trying to be a bit more proactive. His stance or game actually hasn't changed a lot, maybe he's standing a bit more open chested I guess however what I do feel is that someone in the dressing room or maybe Micky himself has talked to him and clearly it has effected him in a positive manner.

However, that being said they're is a very high chance this might just all come back and blow right up in my face with Shehzad scoring a golden duck or something but at least I'd be at peace knowing that I had the confidence and the trust in the boys to actually go out there and win against a competitive limited overs team - Something that has been missing for nearly 7 years from our lot. Also whoever has seen me post on Pakpassion all this time knows how big a critic I am for Ahmad Shezad but what's in the past is in the past. If Shehzad is ready to change his attitude and game for the betterment of Pakistan cricket I assure you I'll be his biggest supporter.

Let's go out there and win this one boys !!

Not only Shehzad,
Hafeez will score big too. Also Azhar. And Junaid/Wahab will perform well with the ball.

Inshallah

Come on Shezzy boy!

We're all backing you to walk the talk

Yes, he played a blinder in the 2nd test of the recently concluded WI series too.

Kohli would be wishing he was allowed 15 men on the field by the time the beast had finished devouring the Indian bowlers.

He may or he may not, but we are running out of ideas to create threads to hype up the encounter.

We should make Kohli Double Hundred thread for a jynx. :Inzi

As long as somebody does. I reckon hafeez has a shout too . The first 2 wickets have been right down his street.
Ball coming nicely on and dead straight

Hope he does but on what basis has this thread been made. He is a rubbish player with a mediocre record especially in big games

I see Sarfraz and Michey have given him the license to play freely but still dont see this player doing well.

Give Shehzad 25 more games regardless of performances there is always a time when a cricketer who has been decent moves to the next level it happens quite often Azhar Ali is a case of that in Test matches.

What I see in Shehzad is plenty of potential and if he can become secure with the insecurities he is having I have no doubt he will average 40+ in both formats of the game, great move by Inzi to back him fully if he gets a score on the 4th June it will hopefully be the start of a new Ahmed Shehzad.

Shehzad doesn't have any potential.

He's fooled people with elegant drives. What never people never pick is that whenever the ball is pitched out of his zone he looks like a tail-ender

Certainly seen an improvement in ol' Shezzy under Mickey.

Seems like Shezzy gets the hairdryer treatment from MA for his tuk tuk.

Im in this with you Ahmed...

Our boy Shezzy is going to smash the parosis all the way back to Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai and Kolkata.

Hopefully this thread doesn't jinx him.

I'm willing to give Shehzad time under a pro coach like Arthur. He had his attitude problems under Waqar, but Waqar didn't manage him very well. He has made some technical improvements under Arthur. Hopefully he keeps on improving.

IMO Shehzad will have a great tournament!

Hope he makes a big century come Sunday!

Babar, Hafeez, Malik are all way more likely. Shezad and Azhar just don't have the shots...

This stroke less wonder won't be scoring more than 20 runs that too off 35 balls he is just not good enough. umesh and bhuvi would cause him a lot of trouble.

What bothers me is that a blinder by his standards (30+ and SR of 70+) can potentially be a match losing effort....

What exactly is the "hairdryer" treatment? :moyo

Concur. I've seen improvement as well. He's squaring up much faster now. Mickey really is a magician.

I expect Yadav to get him early in the innings. Despite the threat that Bhuvi is, I expect Shehzad to see him out because he's a good player of swing but Yadav's pace and bounce will trouble him.

Shehzad can potentially get big scores. He has 100s against most teams in the world so yes it's not bad to bet on him. He is definitely due a good innings in an ICC event. Hopefully can hit some of those sixes he hit down the ground at the PSL.

Career defing moment for Shahzad !! If he fails it means he wnt be coming back because of PSL ... many new faces will emerge so he needs to peform!
I

As long as him and Hafeez do not bat together at any stage, there's a low probability that he might be able to play an important knock. Hafeez's cowardice in big matches usually rubs off on the guy batting with him

The innocence from Pak fans :)
Hope this innocence is not shattered once India doles out a beating of a lifetime :(

Lol what is there to jinx at this point

He will either continue being trash or change for the better

A typical AS innings: Score between 15-25 with SR between 50-65.

If he does anything better, indeed, it would be a blinder.

Come on guys, there is a reason Pakistan is #8 team, here Shezad, Hafeez, Misbah and Azhar are role model for the nation...This (Shezad,Azhar, Hafeez,Sarfraz) is the most depressing batting lineup ever, how can we possibly hype any one of these guys?? - I don't know when we will wake up and change our attitude :acp:

According to his standards, if he plays at a SR higher then 75, it would be a blinder.

without even reading ur post my reaction is this :)))

For the first time can Hafeez and Shehzad just put on a 100 run partnership? Is that so much to ask after their their many many failed attempts.

Yes he will play a blinder. A blinder for India. When he scores 20 runs off 50 balls

I am not sure if its a sarcastic post or fun post. How on earth people can bet on a player who can't rotate strike and SR under 73.

Shehzad will do better than all other Pakistani batsmen but it still won't be enough to win you the game.. You needed Shehzad and Akmal both in the team to even have had a chance to make it a close match..

I never understand why this mediocre player is highly.

Almost 80 matches with an avg of 33 and SR of 70 combined with lack of ability.

Aren't 80 matches enough to make a case ?

I hope Shehzad scores a ton tmrw. A 100 off 140 balls would certainly be a blinder for India. Kohli should do whatever is necessary to keep him not out.

The annoying thing about Shehzad was that he wasnt even trying to attack. It was all block block block dab block and then got out lbw defending a gentle seamer

Dot balls, unsure & late feet movement, unable to read the swing from bowler's release.

These things are against him.

Maybe he trying to anchor while Azhar goes against the bowling.

Surely a blinding knock. How can you ever expect anything from this guy, especially in a big game?

Someone commented that he is better than every batsman in our side.

He won't even get into our side. One of our openers averages 58 in the last 3 years and the other averages 40 with a SR of 99

Shahzad played a blinder and almost single handedly won Pakistan the game. It's a shame the other players never helped him out. What a majestic innings that was 12 of 22.
