Ahsan Ali hits maiden List A ton as Sindh defeat Federal Areas by 85 runs in the Pakistan Cup 2019

Sindh win toss elect to bat first in the match against Federal Areas
 
Asif Ali is out of form. Not performing at all in Pakistan Cup
 
The only big hitter in WC probables we have is Asif Ali, I hope he can play atleast one impactful innings in Pakistan cup.
 
What a difference of level

Hammad looking like Dre Russell in this tournament while he couldn't hit a boundary in the PSL.

Was thinking the same thing, he got a lot of games in this year’s PSL but could do anything remotely close to what he is doing now. I guess most of our players struggle with hype and pressure of PSL and international cricket, they lack confidence in their skills to be able to transfer them to that level.

Obviously there is difference in quality but most of these bowlers in Federals bowling attack like Sameen Gul, Waqas Maqsood, Mohammad Nawaz did play PSL as well.

Its not an expectation as I said its just something I hope for for the sake of Pakistan cricket team that he finds some batting rythm and form.

Showed confidence to play his shots in PSL as well. Needs to work on his fitness and maintain the temperament he showed today.

Imo he should find his form in the England series. This tournament is meaningless. No need to give him (Asif) false hope or else he'll become complacent.

Well to be honest he got a lot of dollies today especially from Gul. Once he got set he could hit out others as well.

In the PSL you don't get such easy starts and got to manage some international class bowlers as well. In the end with all the pressure you end up skying one and flopping.

Yes I agree obviously quality is not the same. I didnt watch the full innings of Hammad to comment but even in terms of mindset some of these players struggle at a higher level. There are many players who have decent skillset but cant transfer those to the next level while there are others who can and that is where PSL can filter the individuals who can handle the pressure.

Ahsan Ali was a good example today, he played some pretty decent knocks in PSL as well and in no way looked in any sort of pressure against any bower there and also hit a century today. So he has definitely showed he has what it takes to handle pressure even if the intesity and cricket quality goes up. I guess that is where PSL filters players who not only show some ability but the temperament to perform at a higher level.

Some of the players we have produced in the last decade or so just couldnt take that next step and they weren’t mentally strong. Hammad Azam was a sensation at U19 level but he couldnt even transfer that to FC level on most occasions let alone international cricket or even PSL for that matter.

Yea that's a good point and probably the reason Mickey and Inzi base their selections on PSL performances.
 
Poor quality tournament. Some ugly mishits going for boundaries from Hammad Azam. Good bowling from Waqas, excellent Yorkers.

One negative with Saud is that he can't hit sixes. He only has like 5 in his whole list a career.
 
And people wanted Rahat in the team just coz of his 4 wickets in the psl. Lol.
 
Whilst Shehzad continues to stink out the joint in yet another big run chase, Saud batting like a dream.

See how Shehzad wasted guls entire over, and finally gave Saud strike for the last ball. Then saud showed him how it’s done!!
 
Saud is miles better then shehzad. But next squad inzi will select shehzad in it.
 
Suad should open. His batting is perfect for an opener. Imagine him and Babar batting together and haris at 3. wow.
 
Saud seems like a batsman who is very hard to contain , full range of shots around the turf.
 
Saud will be the real deal if he can score 140+ here in this tough chase.
Otherwise another Saad, Talat, Farhan

The guy is striking way beyond 100 SR and you’re conplaining about strike rate. Your comment would be relevant if it were Imam or Shehzad getting stuck as they do.

So you are telling me that if you hit a four off the first ball of the over then you don't need to score anything off the remaining balls?
 
I was wondering what is the reason that majority of good stroke players in recent times are coming out of the south, Sharjeel, Saud, Ahsan etc


Perhaps the pitches in the north are too bowler friendly and don't allow batsmen to develop free flowing style. We need to fix this ASAP


I'm sure majority of the bowlers averaging in the teens have inflated stats because of the minefields they bowl on
 
The Pakistan Cup has produced huge scores in the last few years. May be a useful tournament to weed out the best bowlers.

Well if Saud wasn’t scoring anything off the remaining balls then he wouldn’t have ended up with a strike rate of 141 so you’re clearly talking rubbish which was my point.

Australia had more dot balls but still won. Dot balls are fine if you compensate them by hitting boundaries.
 
Really really poor performances by Saud to show his talent. Players like Ramiz and Nawaz are playing better than him.

One of the few Pak batsmen who can hit on the ON and the OFF. Contrast this with happy heart's century yesterday, all legside hacks.
 
Ahsan Ali has some good shots in his arsenal & needs to be drafted in the squad after worldcup. Till then he should be told to work on his fitness, as he looks overweight.
 
I don't see Ahsan Ali and Saud Shakeel being selected for a while no matter how they perform. Inzi is truly an awful selector.

Saud Shakeel should have played those 10 ODIs against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Instead we wasted those games on Malik and Hafeez. :facepalm:
 
Umar Amin's case is so frustrating. He bats like a warrior in domestic but as soon as he gets to bat in an international match, he looks a total liability. One of the mentally weakest players in Pakistan cricket. He has all the shots in his arsenal and his range is pretty good for him to be an 85+ SR player but he never really looks the part in international cricket. Even in PSL, apart from that low scoring match against Lahore, he hasn't done anything in all 4 seasons.
 
Good to see Saud and Ahsan in the runs.

Rizwan, fine you wanna bat at 4 but at least move Saud to 5, above freaking Ramiz Raja Jr.

Saud was batting at 3 today. Man played some delightful shots. Happy for ahsan as well much better then shehzad.
