Alex Hales - Aggressive English batsman

What you are doing is abusing and mocking people who dont agree with your belief and dont want to visit Pakistan. Thats called abusive behaviour and betrays a sense of frustration.

I believe the earth is flat. Do I have the right to believe that? Yes.

Should people respect my belief? Hell no because its a ridiculous one.

Same thing with respect to holding international cricket in Pakistan. Its safe, end of story, and anyone who believes otherwise is like a flat earth believer.

Thats your belief that Pakistan is as safe as India or BD or SL or WI or SA. Others do not share that belief. Why abuse them?

First, I didn't abuse anyone. Second, it is not a belief, it is a fact. There is nothing that has happened in Pakistan that has not happened anywhere else. When a Champions League team bus was bombed in Germany just last year, did all international sport stop in Germany? Heck, the match even went ahead while the players were traumatised.

My point, and that of many others, is that the situation in Pakistan has been blown out of proportion, and if one looked past the propaganda and put their personal emotions aside, they could see that. The dangers faced in Pak are the same faced in many parts of the world.

However, it is easy to brainwash someone, and I totally understand a non Pakistani growing up, say in England (e.g. Hales) only seeing negatives in the media and feeling Pakistan is a warzone or something. But its the job of us that know better to spread the truth, forums like this can do a bit but the PCB has to start negotiating and use diplomacy to bring teams over because the politically motivated attack on Pakistan has gone on long enough.

Its good that WICB, SL and even CSA seem to be looking towards options of touring.

Finally someone talking sense

Earth not being flat is a universal belief. Pakistan being safe isnt. Still if you say earth is flat then i will leave you with your belief.

With Hales coming in and Rochi and Duminy going all guns blazing the only person that seems likely to be dropped to accommodate Hales is unfortunately Talat. Misbah will never drop his friend Asif Ali and he himself is undroppable just because he is captain.

someone please tell him the player limits.

It again comes down to belief. You believe Pakistan is safe others do not. They cant be forced or abused. I do not question your belief its yours. But playes have the right to theirs. Respect that. They have every right to not visit Pakistan without being abused, mocked or criticised.

For most people Germany or France is safe. They believe in the security system there. They believe that a terror attack may be very unlikely. They may not have the same confidence in Pakistan.

I didnot say you abused anyone. Others did. Calling people has beens, entitled colonists whites etc isnt very charitable

You keep saying belief, insinuating that I am not using facts. This is not belief. I am not a child with blind belief in anything, I have made simple statements of facts, you have not refuted a single one. As I said, the response to what happened in Pakistan almost a decade ago is not proportional to responses in other countries to exactly the same situation.

The BELIEF is from those who feel Pakistan is unsafe, ignoring facts but yes, I can not blame players for those beliefs because the propaganda is so invasive. HOwever things are changing and changing rapidly, whether you like it or not.

People here will say good things about players when they play in psl , because they love psl and want it to become popular, but same people are bad mouthing about players who are just making decision what they feel is good.. Simple as that.

Now these people are saying Teams should'nt give contract to those who won't come to pak. Now lets assume this happens actually.. then psl will become a domestic t20 tournament without Star Overseas player.
SAD SITUATION FOR FANS

Propaganda has a powerful reach unfortunately, and the sad truth is that while everyone is supposed to be equal, some are more equal than others. When terrorist bombings were going off in India or during the height of the IRA campaigns in England, those countries were able to wield their influence and financial resources to ensure their sports programmes were minimally disrupted. I'm not blaming anyone here, but it is a fact of life that wielding more power can overcome a lot of obstacles.

You may be correct. And others saying Pakistan is safe may be correct also. I am not judging the security situation in Pakistan or how its perceived. Nor i deny that powerful countries with finance and influence can make players take decisions that are favourable to such countries. I am also not going to compare the ability of the security system in place in Pakistan to other countries. My point is totally different.

But players have the right to disagree and not tour. Calling them chickens or has beens or entitled colonists or whited etc isnt a great thing to do. You can try to convince someone, even offer monetary benefits, but if he doesnot want to come then thats it. Its his decision. Abusing and mocking him defies logic.

Well I wouldn't abuse anyone for making his own choice, not really the point I was making. I can imagine some fans will feel cheated that the international players are picking up big money to play in Dubai, but aren't willing to commit to the further stages in Pakistan. But that is their choice and PSL has allowed them to do so, so no complaints from me.

Often we do not agree. Glad we agree on this.

No we don't have to respect the decision. We will accept it, but not show any love. Pakistan security situation has improved. We have successfully hosted matches without incident. Its high time these stuck up colonialists got off their high horse and let go of their prejudices.

You have to look at it from their perspective as well. They all have families who have a say in whether they go or not. Though Pakistan security has improved its still far from perfect. Overseas player safety is still the most important thing and if they are not comfortable with it, we should respect their decision.

You must understand media plays a big part in it as well. Whenever Pakistan appears in UK media it is usually in negative light, so players are unaware of the ground realities.

I myself didn’t think it was safe to go to Pakistan, but after making the journey many years later I am glad to see that the security is improving.

What is not reality sir?

The reality is that Pakistan security situation is getting better day by day and its perceptions as well. You seem to have some intrinsic problem with Pakistan. World XI visit, two succesful PSL's with forigners and third one on its way and WI agreeing to come are all harbonger of good times to come.

None. Their batting is already powerful and Moeen is a better bowler than Stokes.
Hales goes out. No one can touch buttler in this lineup.
As long as Moeen is perfoming well as an allrounder he is in the team & England is more comfortable with six bowling options.
They have problem of plenty right now.

Any possibility of this happening now?

1. Jason Roy
2. Johnny Bairstow
3. Alex Hales
4. Joe Root
5. Ben Stokes
6. Jos Butler
7. Eoin Morgan
8. Moeen Ali
9. Chris Woakes
10. Adil Rashid
11. Liam Plunkett

12. Mark Wood / Tom Curran

not possible this combination allows only 5 bowling options including stokes which makes their bowling weaker.

One of roy/hales must sit out to accommodate extra bowler.

One of Woakes or Stokes should play. And Morgan over Stokes in the batting order.

ideally hales should be opening instead of roy because hales's record is better than roy in t20i cricket also with much better consistency.

England have problem of plenty right now. Too many batsmen that are suitable for top order rather than middle order in t20 cricket.

England made the right decision by dropping Root. He is a very good batsman in T20 but on a list with the names: Morgan, Buttler, Hales, Roy, Bairstow and Stokes his name is going to be dead-last

In ODIs, either Roy or Hales would get dropped based on recent form.

Drop Roy???? Did you even see how he played yesterday?

The IRA never attacked visiting sports teams. They had no beef with them, only with the organs of the British state.

Terrorists in Pakistan attacked visiting cricket teams specifically. They bombed the Kiwis’ hotel and machine-gunned the Lankan tour bus which had an ICC referee on board.
