This guy Ali khan who now lives in USA is from Pakistan. Migrated from Pakistan like 4-5 years ago. Today he is bowling around 86-90mph with good outswing with new ball and reverse swing with old ball. I think Pakistan should try to convince him to come back to Pakistan and play in Pakistan. He can be a very good limited over bowler and is right handed. People should Check out cpl he has been one of the best bowlers

Is he the same Ali Khan who was quite famous in rawalpindi?

Pakistani origin American cricketer, Ali Khan, in trouble for his part in music video

(Trinidad Newsday) Pakistani-American cricketer Ali Khan is asking his fans on social media to “move on” from an issue over his being a part of soca singer Destra Garcia’s Me Gusta video.

The video is trending on social media and has led to the creation of memes, with some of them saying “You can marry as many women you want but you can’t stand next to Destra” or “You go back Trinidad. Yuh can’t come back here.”

The two-minute-59-second video shows Garcia in a house and a bed and on a beach, beach dancing as she sings. She is also seen with Khan on the beach. He is also seen in solo shots standing on the beach looking at the sunset.

The video has upset members of Khan’s family, which prompted Khan and Dwayne “DJ” Bravo to issue apologies via video.

Khan told fans he was looking at the posts on social media and had received messages about the video.

He repsonded: “I just want to say the purpose of making this video was not to hurt anyone including my family. I did see the final version of the video before releasing which Destra sent to me and I was okay with it at that point.

“But I did not realise that it will be too much for my family. I did apologise to my family as well. So I just want to urge people stop posting negative stuff on social media and please respect our privacy and please stop this now and move on from this.”

Khan played for Trinbago Knight Riders in the recent CPL series.

In his video apology, Bravo told Khan’s father he had heard about the concerns over Ali and the video.

“From the bottom of my heart I am very sorry. The person (Destra) is a very good friend of mine, a singer back in TT.

“Because of the love people in TT have for Ali,she requested if it is possible to have him make an appearance in her music video, which Ali was okay with.

“But obviously after the fact that the video did not come out the way they wanted it, and he told me he shared his concern that you are very upset, and his dad and family are disappointed in him – I want to take that responsibility because he really wanted to do a favour to me. The person is a very close friend to me. I want to apologise. I want you to please forgive him,” Bravo said.

People have to much time to get offended over stupid things

All I know is that Pakistan-Americans don't care and won't get offended over something so trivial. Pakistan is a whole nother story.

Most people are so offended but wouldn't even know who this guy is!

Is he the Shoaib Malik protégé who used to play for Sialkot? He was once quite highly rated as an all-rounder.

Is he the Shoaib Malik protégé who used to play for Sialkot? He was once quite highly rated as an all-rounder.

Nope, this is another Ali Khan.

Saw him bowling at the CPL, was pretty sharp at times, bowling around 90mph.

Good player and a good actor too. Heard girls in Trinidad go crazy for him

Ali Khan was born and raised in Pakistan. His family moved to Ohio when he was 18. The USA fast bowler is a T20 globetrotter and the Pakistan Super League 2020 was a homecoming of sorts. Representing Karachi Kings, he had a chance to showcase skills in front of his own people but the stint was cut-short by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ali could just play one game, where he dismissed former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Being a professional cricketer, the uncertainty of the leagues due to the COVID-19 situation is causing him sleepless nights. In 2019, he had not accepted the central contract from USA to be available for franchise cricket.

He, however, could represent USA on a match fee basis.

“That’s the most tough situation, it is our bread and butter. We don’t know how long this is going to last. We just have to stick to the process, keep yourself fit hopefully once things are back to normal, we can start playing the leagues again,” Ali told Sportstar.

The right-arm pacer was a breakout star in the Caribbean Premier League 2018 for Trinbago Knight Riders with 16 wickets at an average of 20.81 and an economy of 7.80. He has also been part of Global T20 Canada, Bangladesh Premier League and the T10 League in Abu Dhabi.

Luckily, he left Pakistan in the nick of time. “It was already bad. Just the day after I left, all flights had stopped. If I had to stay one more day, I would have been stuck there. I got lucky in that sense. The flights were not that full and the airports were empty. I was in a 14-day quarantine by myself in Ohio. Overall in America, coronavirus is severe at the moment and we hear that the numbers are likely to go up.”

His team travelled from Karachi to Lahore for the playoffs which eventually stood postponed. “Some players had already left after playing behind closed doors. On the playoff morning, we found out that it is postponed until further notice,” he revealed.

By then, Ali had made most of his Pakistan trip. He met his grandparents and relatives. “I hadn’t seen them for long. A lot of friends wanted to meet me but I could not due to the isolation.”

Hungry for more

Ali received tips from the legendary Wasim Akram. “PSL was a great experience as it was happening in Pakistan. Every game was housefull. Akram was with our team, so I learnt a lot from him on swing and reverse swing. I got to play only one game because only four overseas players can be part of a team.

"Hopefully, if the playoffs happen, I hope to go back and win the tournament,” said Ali, who aspires to play in the Indian Premier League.

“I was in the IPL auction twice, but unfortunately, I didn’t get picked. I will keep working hard and IPL is still my dream,” he added.

As of now, Ohio has reported 5,000+ COVID-19 cases with 190 casualties. Ali is training at home following a workout plan. “I am going through my bowling action, thinking about mobility and making sure the fitness is there."

“Most players in USA have full-time contracts. There is a lot of good stuff happening within USA cricket. It is not that they have to survive on other jobs but now, due to the virus, it might be hard for most of the players, including me, as the future is uncertain for the remaining part of the year." said Ali.

Doing well at the CPL - wonder if good enough to be considered for Pakistan?

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has roped in Pakistan-born USA fast-bowler Ali Khan as their replacement for English pacer Harry Gurney ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Khan, who will be the first-ever USA cricketer to feature in the cash-rich T20 tournament, was acquired by KKR after Gurney was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

The 29-year-old Khan was a member of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) squad that won this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) earlier this week after beating the St Lucia Zouks in the final.

Khan has fairly good numbers under his name while bowling in T20 cricket. In 36 matches so far, he has picked up 38 wickets at an average of little above 27.

Other than TKR, he has also plied trades with Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL, Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Khulna Titans in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) among others.

Reportedly, KKR had initially expressed desire to acquire the service of Mustafizur Rahman to replace Gurney, but Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) disallowed the bowler to play in the IPL.

Meanwhile, The 2020 season of the IPL will be played for 53 days across three venues in the UAE — Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai. KKR will begin their campaign against Mumbai Indians in September 23 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The final match will be played on a Tuesday, to make it the first-ever IPL to have its final on a weekday. The matches this season will also start 30 minutes before their original time of 4 PM and 8 PM.

The IPL 2020, which was scheduled to be played from March 29 this year, was earlier postponed to April 15 before it was suspended again due to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, after the International Cricket Council (ICC) formally announced the postponement of the T20 World Cup, the BCCI capitalised on the opportunity to stage the IPL during the time the T20 World Cup was dated to take place.

But with the coronavirus situation escalating in India with each passing day, the Indian board decided to move the tournament out of the country. It is believed, UAE was chosen keeping in mind their prior experience of hosting a limited part of the tournament in 2014.

Ali Khan - What a lucky man! No one knew him until two years ago, but from nowhere was Global Canada T20 organized where he shined, and then got a chance in CPL; played for Trininad this year under McCullum, who also happens to be the coach of KKR, and due to which, he got a chance in the IPL now. Good for him.

I wonder if he would have got a visa to play in India due to his Pakistan background. So UAE IPL is good for him as it cuts out the Pakistan origin business.

"Born and raised in Pakistan, he moved to USA with his parents at the age of 18, settling in Ohio"

Guess likes of Imran Tahir can also get visas for India.

Imran Tahir played in India last season? In IPL? So why would Ali Khan not be able too? Denying an American citizen Visa for no valid reasons will not go well with uncle Sam.

Played with him a few years ago in the USA, we're from the same state. Knew he was good but this is a really meteoric rise, very impressive

the visa issue happens if you choose to retain pakistani citizenship.

so if have having dual citizenship (E.g. US / Pakistan) and wanting to go to India, you have 2 options:
a) you apply on pakistan passport
b) you have to get proof of giving up pakistani citizenship and then you can apply on US passport.

even for business trips same is case, they won't let you come as US citizen while retaining pakistani citizenship.

in his case if he has given up pakistani citizenship, then that means his intl future will be with USA now. though it may be possible to go back to reclaim it somehow...

India has been doing that(since 2009) and I doubt Uncle Sam aka Trump will give a toss about that.

American-Pakistani dual citizen can only apply Indian visas on their Pakistani passport or unless they surrender Pakistani citizenship.

So, your claim of American politics getting offended holds no value. You can always read up on google for your clarification.

Apparently Saqib Mahmood of England didn't manage to get a visa to tour India in 2019 with England Lions, which was attributed to his parents being born in Pakistan, despite him being born in Birmingham. Was very shocked to hear that, perhaps it was a one-off.

Well both TKR and KKR has same owners..

a benchmark for Muhammad Amir down the line.. give up Pakistani passport and take UK citizenship..
he will get a good deal of million dollars for a couple of years. Good for rest of his life. Retire and enjoy life in UK with that money.

Incorrect.

It was down to the offices being closed over Xmas and New Year.

Exactly, I was planning to go to India many years ago, to attend wedding of colleague but when came to know my options to apply for Indian visa, I didn't go.

He has a side strain but not ruled out of IPL2020

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered another injury blow as their pacer Ali Khan has been ruled out of the tournament without playing a game. The first USA player to land an IPL deal, Khan was suffering from a side strain from his previous assignment - Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

He was already ruled out of the tournament in the first week of the October but the franchise did not confirm the news. Signed up as a replacement for England pacer Harry Gurney, Khan might remain part of KKR for IPL 2021.

As per a report in the Stuff.co.nz, New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert has been signed up by KKR as his replacement. The 25-year-old is a capped player and has played 24 T20Is - and 3 ODIs. Best-remembered for his innings of 84 off 43 against India, in opening T20I last year, Seifert was part of the CPL-winning team, Trinbago Knight Riders.

TKR is the sister franchise of KKR. They also have the same coaching staff, headed by Brendon McCullum. Seifert has 1775 runs in 95 T20s. He entered the IPL 2020 auction with a base price of Rs 50 lakh but went unsold. Primarily an opener, Seifert doesn't get to face the new ball much due to the presence of seniors Martin Guptill and Colin Munro at the top.

As a result of IPL call-up, Seifert will miss four Plunkett Shield matches. NZ's domestic first-class tournament kicks off on October 19. It isn't known whether he has landed in UAE or not. Seifert can also replace a struggling Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI. The former KKR captain has only scored 112 runs in eight innings.
