This is my all time test xi to tour West Indies.I am only including batsmen who toured the Carribean.I have based it on performances in the West Indies and considered strength of opposition.

1.Sunil Gavaskar
2.Len Hutton
3.Alan Border
4.Mohinder Amarnath
5.Greg Chappell
6.Keith Miller
7.Adam Gilchrist
8.Imran Khan(captain)
9.Wasim Akram
10.Glen Mcgrath
11.Subhash Gupte

Chose Sunil Gavaskar as he was outstanding in 1971 and 1976 and Len Hutton on the basis of great batting in the 1954 series there.Greg Chappell played the best out there by any batsmen in the 1970's in the 5 WSC supertests averaging 69 with 3 centuries.Mohinder Amarnath played the great quartet better than anyone in 1983 aggregating 598 runs at 66.8 while Alan Border almost equalled that feat when averaging over 74 in 1984.No paceman performed better than Imran Khan in the Carribean who took attacking agresstion to it's highest zenith..Subhash Gupte tormented batsmen out there more than even Shane Warne.Glen Mcgrath bowled like a champion in 1995 and 1999,with a record haul of 30 scalps in 1999.Wasim Akram all but won series with the ball in 1988 and 2000 taking his team on the brink of victories at Barbados and Antigua. In 1955 touring Keith Miller captured 20 wickets and scored 3 centuries ,including an unbeaten 147.I chose Imran Khan as the skipper with his outstanding record .

Players who just missed out were Graham Gooch,Ian Chappell,Kapil Dev,Gundappa Vishwanath,Hanif Mohammad ,Wasim Raja,Jacques Kallis and Inzamam Ul Haq.Sachin Tendulkar was not at his best there, nor was Dennis Lille in superstests in 1979.Ricky Ponting was outstanding against weaker opposition.Although a super bowler Richard Hadlee was relatively defensive on the 1985 tour .Ian Botham was surprisingly never successful there.Jacques Kallis was excluded as Imran and Miller were greater match-winners.

Warne didn't play a lot in WI. He had one quite good tour and one where he came back too early from a shoulder operation and ended up being dropped mid series. He never forgave Steve Waugh and still hates him (anytime Warne makes a list of best test batsman, 11 best modern Aussie batters etc he always leave out S Waugh & picks his mate Mark).

I think he missed another tour there due to injury or his suspension entirely.

Criminal to not have Kapil Dev in that list when he was nothing less than spectacular and the best among famed ARs of his era when it came to facing West Indies, especially at their home.
