Excluded likes of Bradman,Hobbs,Hutton and Hammond as they did not play in the sub-continent.Excluded greats like Viv Richards and Greg Chappell who were not at their best on turning tracks.

Choice of Lara greatly influenced by his batting in Sri Lanka where he averaged over 100 in 2003 playing the likes of Murlitharan like chaffing wheat .

Walsh had a wide repertoire and staggering statistics. He had a remarkable average of 18.55 in India and 21.9 in Pakistan with 76 scalps combined.

Warne was at his best in Pakistan in 1994 with 22 scalps and in Sharjah later when he had a record 27 scalps.

Hayden was the ultimate run machine on the 2001 tour of India.

Greenidge was one of the most solid batsmen every to play in the sub-continent.

Kanhai was the ultimate batting connoiseur on turning tracks.

Border was an epitome of grit and skill on turners like when scoring 2 15o's in Karachi in 1980.

Sobers staggering figures make him a unanimous choice.

Gilchrist even in the sub-continent could bamboozle the best bowlers holding the bat like a gun.

Everton weekes arguably even surpassed Bradman when batting in India.

Marshall was a supreme master of the flat tracks with his trajectory.Master in skidding the ball and traversed regions in pace bowling never explored before.

Andy Roberts was a super craftsmen in the sub-continent conditions obtaining pace, movement and bounce.Master with an old ball and in creating variations of pace.

I would have Mcgrath in place of Walsh rest is fine....

I almost had Mcgrath but last minute chose Roberts.Mcgrath wins on figures but Andy had more all-round skill.Walsh had a greater element of subtelty than Mcgrath and bowled well staging great bating line ups in Asia.

They will beat us more often than not.

Even an all time Aus team or a WI team on their own would be evenly matched.

Aus from last 50 years:

1. Hayden
2. Taylor
3. Ponting
4. G Chappell
5. Border
6. S Waugh
7. Gilchrist
8. Warne
9. M Johnson
10. Lillee
11. McGrath

Yes, i could see this team giving us hell. We would have perhaps a better fast bowling attack with Imran, Wasim and Waqar, and Dev as the fourth pacer, but we don't have a Gilchrist, unless you want to give Sanga the gloves.

The carribean team alone could give us a hard time, maybe beat us.

IMO there have been more great non-Asian players than Asian players. Simple as that.

Very sorry for error.thanks.

That in particular was the series that brought Lara's brains back in gear. He struggled for a few years before that, although he did play some gems in between. But he was going crazy over circumstances best known to him prior to that. It was after that series he once again got back into his groove, most importantly got his brains back into gear, and played like a champion till his retirement.

Stephen Fleming who was terrible at home (averaged 36 home, 48 away) was superb in the subcontinent. He scored A LOT of runs vs Murali

How does Shane Warne makes the list? He used to get battered by Sachin all over the park. Even Graeme Swann would have been a better pick than him.
