Alleged ISI agent Nishant Agrawal arrested from BrahMos missile unit in Nagpur

The teams of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squads on Monday arrested a suspected ISI spy on charges of leaking secrets at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The accused has been identified as Nishant Agarwal who had been working at the BrahMos Aerospace unit for four years, News18 reported.

As per the reports, Agarwal is a suspected agent of Pakistan’s spy agency ISI and he has been booked under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly leaking technical secrets to Pakistan. The accused was caught in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra ATS, TimesNow reported.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) facility where Agarwal worked manufactures propellants or fuel for BrahMos missiles which are the fastest cruise missiles in the world. The supersonic missiles can be launched from submarines, ships and aircraft and even land.

Times Now reported that Agarwal is believed to have got access to sensitive information on India’s missiles systems. Now the two ATS are looking into the details of spy’s way of operating.

One theory is that he was honey-trapped via social media. A lot of these guys working on defence projects (and even army officers) stick their profiles up on LinkedIn as they’re always looking for an opportunity in the private sector and from there it’s pretty easy to find their Facebook profiles etc.

The retired ISI lieutenant colonel (who no one seems to talk about any more) who went missing in Nepal not too long ago also had a LinkedIn profile which ultimately led to his disappearance/kidnapping. You’d think these people would know better.

He never served for ISI , you think every army officer have to serve ISI to get a rank or what ? ISI doesnt work like that.

I thought that all Indian military personnel and civilians working in Indian military units were explicitly barred from having social media accounts? It is considered a violation of the Official Secrets Act.
 
Nishant saheb to ab geya hi geya:ashwin I think Askhay Kumar would be a good candidate to play his role in the forthcoming "Nishant" feature movie:ajmal2 As for the ISI they'll just move on to someone else, there is no shortage of would be spies across the border.
 
Everything in India these days has links to Pakistan. They couldn't exist without us
