This is the best team we have had since 1999
Full of not only quality players but mentally strong players who can fight till the end!

Well done boys!

massive over reaction dude we have a young team showing some promise finally.

Nothing compared to 90s team.

Better than the 90s team I think, this team can win the world cup as there are no corrupt souls

No way. They were excellent but our 90s team was above and beyond. They should've had 3 world cups instead of one they just underachieved.

Hopefully these players mature well in 2 years time, so we can lift our second World Cup:junaid

You didn't even name Babar and Haris.... Top class talents.... And then Fahim Ashraf....

Fakhar

Need one good opener, one middle-order batsman for WC 2019....

Half the threads on the forum right know are quite funny in that they are already proclaiming us to be the best side in the world. Guys! Yes we won but we are far from being the best. And I'm sure the very people who are comparing this team with past greats will be calling for their heads the moment they lose a series. We do have some great prospects, but that's all they are at the moment. They have to do a lot more to earn a comparsion with past greats. Fakhar has to make runs, Hasan and Shadab have to take wickets, Imad has to justify his seclection, Junaid has to get back his consistency, until then we would do well to enjoy this win but remain grounded and realistic. Don't mean to belittle today's victory but just want us to keep things in perspective.

I am not comparing this team to that one,I am just saying that this is our best team since 1999

Not too sure about Imad wasim.

He didn't impress at all. Surely there are a lot better alternatives available.

Yes and I am telling you no they are good youngsters we had a killer team on paper during 2003 WC and even later.

Umm these 17 hour fasts are clearly taking a toll. And like others have mentioned Imad needs to be dropped.

unquestionably the best team since the 2011 WC

some of the teams in the 2000's were pretty good, when we had Amir, Asif, Ajmal, prime Afridi, Razzaq, Akhtar, prime Kamran, Yousuf, even Younis was a 2 year phase where he averaged 40+ with a SR of 80 in ODIs

this team is very new, and very promising. in 1-2 years it can develop into a great team, but they aren't there yet

I dont think OP is making a exaggerated comment. Based on us winning a trophy which we dont do often this can be our best team since 1999. Considering our poor showing in icc events after 1999.

Well yes we have won 4 important games on the trot which has lead us to a Champions Trophy but still there is a lot to do before claiming this is the best side since 1999. Now the real challenge begins. Expectations are gonna increase and pressure is going to mount on some of the experienced guys like Malik and Hafeez. PCB will be forced to looking into more younger players as the younger players have come through and are performing.

Based on the evidence of 4 matches? :/

4 high pressure knockout matches against teams your previous teams got thrashed in 2003 WC
when was the last ICC tournament where we won 4 in a row?
Its the mental character and brilliant captaincy which must be applauded

No bro
We had a team with individual good players but we were directionless and had no spirit hence our poor record in ICC events except in T20Is
This team played as a unit and as I mentioned earlier their mental strength must be applauded.
Even our 1999 World class team lost to BD and IND and git thrashed in the finals.this is undoubtedly our best team since that debacle

Imad wasim is useless the sonnet we get rid of him the better. Only if this side has haris, sharjeel fahim and a hard hitting middle order batsmen.

This final match lineup is more dynamic than any PAK lineup I've seen in at least the last 5-6 years. Kudos to you guys.

If Fakhar can bowl effectively then there is no space for Imad Wasim in the side.

doesnt mean that now pakistan team would win so many series now, it only means pakistan won CT17

Seriously imad?? He is the definition of mediocre! Others are not world beaters either.

LOL this bacha party has not seen the 90s team. In the 90s we had superstars from 1-11 and all of them could and would win the match on their own. This team has a good nucleus but we still need to get rid off dead weights and keep improving until 2019 world cup.

90s team was better on paper, but cricket is not played on paper. They didn't achieve much due to politics, infighting and other obvious reason. This team can go on to achieve a lot more, just need to get rid of the old failures

That's nostalgia speaking. The 99 side had freaking Wajahtullah Wasti opening the batting, followed by hacky Ijaz Ahmed. Rookie Abdur Razzaq was often sent in as one-down because he was one of the few bats in the side who had an extra gear. Moin Khan was the keeper who isn't a superstar by any stretch of the imagination. Same with Azhar Mahmood.

The only superstars that the 99 side had were Saaed Anwar, Inzimam-ul Haq, Shahid Afridi (was a rookie at that stage and hardly a world-beater), Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mustaq, Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis (hardly played) and Abdur Razzaq (highly debatable)

No way! You guys have not seen the 90s team I guess.

Our 1980s team was the best
90s was v inconsistent despite having star studded players
1996 QF Exit
1999 loss to India,BD,Australia in the finals
that team found it v difficult to win 4 matches in a row hence our poor record in ICC CT in 1998,2000

That's a tad over the top. :))

BUT it's a great nucleus of talent. Still need to work on adding a few batting prospects into the middle order.
