What's new

An all-time Asian XI v an all-time non-Asian XI in Test cricket? Who would win?

Surely Kapil goes? Khan being better in every way?

Frankly we're talking about such greats that both deserve a place in the team but neither deserves to not be in the XI. Both are great all-rounders and alongside Llyod are imo the greatest WC winning captains. I rate both Kapil and Imran equally. Unfortunately only 11 people can be fielded.

I am happy with either in the side.

Pakistan is good in England and India is in Australia.

Simple theory put more Pakistani batsman on tour of England and Indian on Australian tour.

Asian bowlers are too good on Asian and non Asian soil.

I think Asians are better.

Compare win % of non Asian team in Asia and Asian team outside Asia.

No matter who the bowlers and where you play, but Bradman, Sobers, Viv, Lara in the middle order -- batting just does not get any more awesome than that.

If the coach of asian team is shastri and match is in Mohali or someplace similar, then I wud say Asia A team will defeat the non asian xi

Just think about current Asian xi vs non Asian xi in tests
Asia xi - Azhar Ali, Karunaratne, Pujara , Kohli(c), Chandimal, Mushfiq (wk), Ashwin , Yasir, Abbas, Shami, Bhuvneshwar
Subs - Amir , Jadeja, Rahane , Shakib
No Afghans as still they are unproven

Non Asian xi - Elgar, Cook, Root , Williamson, Faf(c) , Bairstow (wk), Stokes , Starc , Rabada , Anderson, Lyon
Subs - Boult , Hazlewood, Amla, Maharaj

In Tests they are not in the same league. Imran Khan was head and shoulders above.

Where is Ross Taylor? He is a much better batsman than Faf DP.

Cook shouldn't be in the team either. Kraigg Braithwaite, Aiden Markram or Tom Latham can replace him.

Stokes is also a lucky selection. Colin De Grandhomme is a better batsman and Jason Holder is a better bowler - so it depends on what you want in a number 7.

Hanif or Sehwag or Majid instead of Mankad.

Kapil Dev was a great all rounder but there is no balance with both him and Imran. Imran was better so has to play.

Instead of Kapil - add an extra spin dimension - Abdul Qadir or Saqlain

Draw in non-subcontent pitches.

In Subcontinent: Sangga alone wins over Gilchrist.
Asian lower order will extend the inning. Whereas, Non-asian team 7 down and innings is over. Murali will eat them up in no time.

Very interesting if this gets a 6 day test because of the quality of the batsmen.

For the original teams, the ROW XI would win because of Bradman and Sobers - it would give them such strong batting. Hadlee should be in for Lillee and batting at 8.

7. Gilchrist
8. Hadlee
9. Warne
10. Marshall
11. McGrath

is a stronger tail. On spinning tracks pick Laker instead of McGrath and Kallis instead of Viv (for his bowling).
