Might seem premature, but with another good batting track expected at the Oval on Sunday, will we see another boring match in India's favour on Sunday? Or will Fakhar Zaman and Junaid Khan step up to the plate and make it count for Pakistan when it matters most?

Are PPers more confident of Pakistan's chances in the final than in the group stage match?

It is anybody's game. If Pakistan play well, they can win this. They need to bat, bowl and field well. I think India is favorite because they are playing very well. The Toss will also play a very important role. We need to check the weather on Sunday. I hope it does not rain and we get a full 50 over game. Pakistani Team is in good momentum and it will be a good game to watch.

India definitely will start favourites as they have all the bases covered , their batting , bowling and fielding are better than pakistan's. Pakistan need an extraordinary day in the office to win the final.

I think Pakistan will come out with a lot of confidence after their last 3 wins, but if things don't go their way, the occasion might start to get the better of them.

The key to beating India is to get their top 3 out early. If you allow them to settle in, India win regardless of whether they're batting first or second.

If we were playing Cardiff we would have a sniff but on the Oval road India's superior batting will set or chase a total with ease.

Despite the negativity it's been a postive tournament for Pakistan and you never know.

Anyone can explain how the Oval pitch is different from previous pitches in CT that we bowled well on?

Anything can happen, and Pakistan have started to actually put up proper complete performances. But I think everyone who understands cricket and is honest with themselves, knows that India are heavy favorites.

Interesting to note that Pakistan has not played a single game at the Oval whereas India has played 2 at this ground in this tournament. Winning the toss will be key.

Ladies and gentlemen.. the pitch used in the final will be the flattest pitch in the 250 years of cricket... ICC is going to make sure the pitch has NOTHING and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for the bowler over the course of few days... Such a disgraceful pitch should be invaded.

When the first catch is offered to Pak, and they grab it, there is no turning back from there. Pak will THRASH indians black and blue this sunday and I am not running away. Bring it on. I do not remember the last Final between the 2 in an ICC ODI cup. The last final between the 2 in a WC (T20) was mighty close and Pak threw it away. It ain't happening this time around. This final will be the nail in the coffin for wrist-slitter pakpassioners.

Lool look at this guy has started making excuses 3 days before the match.. Hadd hi Kar di hai Kuch logo ne to

This flat pitch will suit the 'Ipl' indian batsmen.. surely we will be looking at a 400-500 par score as per ICC pitch conditions... I'm telling you this pitch will be FLAT.. a true FLAT concrete metal road pitch on the cards for Sunday.. Good luck Pakistan

you mean Cardiff on used/sticky wickets you have a chance.. ? not on fresh wicket.

excuses are out. when Morgan made comments about pitch, people here got upset. :))

No. India lost Wahab Riaz and Ahmed Shehzad, their most essential 12th and 13th men respectively, due to injury. That is a crucial blow to their winning chances coming sunday.

it's not an excuse.. for a good game of cricket there needs to be a balance between ball and bat. This is not the indian league.

Morgan is an idiot for complaining about a balanced pitch where both batsmen and bowlers performed.. but for a flat deck which is going to be at the oval, it's completely in bats favor

Well .... like it or not, those who wanted the Indians in the Final .... now got it !!!! If the track is flat, and we bat first, we better score some 350 runs before we have a go at the Indians, otherwise it is all over. These guys are just too good with the bat. At least, now we have 2 days of back and forth with the Indians ..... should be real fun.

We have to be ready to chase 300. We can restrict them with early wickets which should keep them to 300

Hard to see Pak winning. Our batting which has hidden behind the bowlers and Fahkar will be exposed again

Troll post. India is bound to win so don't even try to jinx.

All our hopes are on Fakhar if he gets out cheaply we have no chance. Hafeez n Azhar arent good enough to be in the top 4 of any top ODI batting line up.
Batting will cost us as always in these games.

No true Indian would make a thread like this before a high pressure encounter against Pakistan and that too in an icc tournament finals.

Not trying to jinx but the cup is seriously Pak's to lose. Reason being that Pak has been thoroughly tested in every match. They played & defeated higher ranked teams. Whereas, India hasn't been tested at all. Today's SF match too was a 1-sided encounter with Indian team hardly being challenged. Going by the history, usually it is always a side that trumps major challenges across wins the cup

It's been a good journey to the final but I don't see us winning at all. In fact we ain't won since Afridi hit two sixes off Ashwin, since then India have won games in the 2014 T20 WC, 2015 ODI WC, 2016 Asia cup, 2016 T20 WC and now the 2017 CT group match. So that's us losing to India 5 times in a row but then again we can end that streak.

We just lost against SL.

Going by the general trend in ODis (heavily in favor of batsmen) and the pitches here, it is India's to lose. If the pitches were like the ones in India where Pakistan played them last, I would say the favorites would be Pakistan.

Pakistan will absolutely need to bring their A game to stand a chance. There is no room for error against the Indian team.

Not true. Pak lost the momentum after dropping catches in the last encounter. It will be a different story now.

Stop trolling with your ONE liner. Give a reason why they can't lose.

You need an explanation to why India can't lose to Pakistan in an ICC knock out? Isn't it as obvious as the day being bright? Just look at the previous matches and see how Pakistan has performed against India.

Im more confident now than I was before the group game.

Definitely Pakistan have a good chance but their fielding and bowling has to be spot like their last 3 games. That's their foundation - after that the batting is still good enough to chase scores around 270 or under.

It's on the day - anytime can happen. Favourites don't always win.

Pakistan have still beaten India twice in the ICC champions trophy. Something that hardly gets mentioned.

It's all on the day. India are stronger on batting but Pak can still restrict them.

Above all hoping for a good contest.

just want this match to happen quickly cant take the pain of a loss in a final to india

I know it's possible. Don't get me wrong on that. The issue is, winning against India is going to be nearly impossible when we have proven dot ball kings like Azhar and Hafeez who will selfishly build pressure. If Azhar could somehow get injured before the final, that would boost our chances.

A pathetic reply. Pak HAS beaten Ind in the past in an ICC tournament. Pak got better record in this tournament. Pak is better prepared now after losing the first game. Pak batting got confidence after beating Eng. It is the team with momentum which wins. Your reply was a question?

How does Pakistan have a better record in this tournament? In the general, it's 2-2 between India Pakistan. While India's performance in this current tournament trumps Pakistan. Our batting clicked once, in a chase any and every team should be able to complete. India on the other hand, has destroyed every team other than Srilanka, who we nearly lost against.

I commend your passion for Pakistan, but be realistic or else it could and probably will be a very painful Sunday for you.

I hope not. I haven't seen an ODI thriller in a while now and there should be a competitive match on Sunday. This tournament has been full of one-sided matches.

Although I wouldn't mind if the game was one-sided in favor of Pakistan.

Sorry to say this but unless Pakistan play their very best and India play poorly it is difficult to see Pakistan winning this. They may have improved their bowling stocks but how they turn up against India and the nature of the flat pitch will determine the winner.

Also I would like to point out another fact that may have been hidden by their victories is that while they have bowled exceedingly well those performances have mainly come on slightly tackler and slow surfaces which might not be the case in final and at the same time India has actually been bowling on the tougher pitches right through this tournament so they may just be the more confident bunch on game day.

So expecting another Indian victory. CHEERS!!

Can you just shut up with your lame excuses.

It has to be because the opposition played awful and not because Pakistan played well.

my reply was in comparison to england. dont be so defensive. what i meant was india wont collapse like england on such pitches.

They would collapse under pressure. We will find out what these SOORMAS do when they get a a chance to bat now with pressure of cup to win.

really. these guys who won the last ct, the mom of a wc final will feel pressure? imagine then how much pressure a young pakistani team will feel against india in a ct final?

Just want to see a close match than last time. No one expected Pak to reach the final in the first place.

Did they win against Pak? It is a different ball game Vs Pak. Let's just wait till sunday. Pak bottled the first game under pressure no doubt but in IND Pak game, pressure does get shifted.

I have seen many Ind Pak games. I can assure you that it takes one spark in Ind Pak games to turn the events. I am confident that with CUP on line, Ind will bottle it this time around in the Final.

This time I would say India may win eventually but it wont be very one sided this time. Only thing that can catch India by surprise is if they fail to read new guys bowling for Pakistan

If we are bowling first then we have a good chance of getting the win this time

I hope not, this is the most boring CT for India so far.

India won all the matches one sided (including practice matches) and lost one sided.

I wish to see a entertaining finals.

India will decimate Pakistan. Its better we avoid the carnage and forfeit.

If they are using the same track then who knows?

Eoin Morgan says hi!

Most probably it will be one-sided, but just want our boys to not lose the mental battle before match for once

If Pakistan come with the mentality that they are here to take the cup away from the Jaws of the Great Indian Shark, it will be interesting.

I mean,

Hassan Ali, Amir and Junaid Khan are no Mashrafe, Mustafiz and Taskin. Just saying

You didn't see Pak vs SL? That was a proper thriller.

India are favourites for sure, very good players, better batters, better fielders... but they're also human.
Take 'em on Pakistan and bring it home!

India will beat Pakistan, in a rather one sided affair. A very boring match, much like today. The oval wicket is just terrible- the fun has already been 'nipped in the bud'. I'm actually rather looking forward to seeing new faces in the batting lineup after the tournament, to complement all the new faces in the squad that have performed thus far.

P.S. No excuses; just being honest, Pakistan doesn't quite have the squad (in the batting facet) to make a game of it on Sunday.

Something special is just round the corner for Pakistan. We "Pakistanis" desperately need these sort of threads. Please keep them coming. :trump

May the best team win and may they be wearing Green Shirts!

This will be a close match even if IND wins.

I don't see it being one-sided.

1) PAK has played them already (players understand what will be thrown their way)
2) PAK has serious momentum after the SF win
3) IND will feel the pressure of an ICC final (group matches are rarely a knockout situation)

It's going to be an entertaining Sunday and we might be in for a real surprise.
