Alright so I was tired of politics in this section so I decided to post some lighter topics
I absolutely love the guy, like I quote him all the time and I know most of the songs from his album illlmatic word for word
So here we can post some of his songs that we like the most and can just celebrate how great of a MC he is!!!
Some of his songs I like the most are
https://youtu.be/HEwSfbE9IXc
https://youtu.be/c9VQye6P8k0 - patience

He is the only non sell out, on a side note what you thought about his Gully boy song?

If it was not for Ranveer Singh messing up the song
the song was great I loved Divine for a long time that guy is a proper legend material and naezy is good too but I hope he focus more on his rap career but this is one of the reasons I love nas he love rap as a art form cause honestly he had nothing to gain from doing a song in a Bollywood movie with a bunch of street kids but he wants hip hop to grow that's why he did it and he does it even to this day and he is a queens legend who still visit his project and help out young hip hop artist and I saw it with my own eyes cause I went to same middle school as he did and guys would have stories of him shooting his music videos in the hood and still being friendly with his old friends

New York state of mind is on my gym play list. One of the best rap songs ever imo

One of the greatest rappers ever. Illmatic is probably objectively the greatest rap album even if it’s not my favourite. I still think he’s overrated a little because of the sheer amount of mediocrity in his discography

"i never sleep cus sleep is the cousin of death" ahhh

Begins with I don't know how to start than bring the dopest verse
"Rappers I monkey flip 'em with the funky rhythm I be kickin'. Musician, inflictin' composition, of pain"

And than put you in a story, his world and you are engaged in what's happening like that ability to not just rhyme but keep to make a story and if you close your eyes you are in there

And in every 5 sec there's a verse where you have to go back and be like that's so dope

"Life's a B***h," but God-forbid the b***h divorce me
I'll be flooded with ice so hellfire can't scorch me
My favorite hip hop verses of all time
In the first I think it was like how life is hard and you hate it some times but even than you are scared to lose it
And in the second he was like even after death if he died hellfire can't touch him cause of his ice and that's a buetiful double meaning word play where in slang ice means jewelry and he is like even in hell the rich ones can't be touched just like in this world (double meaning is the literal ice where its cold and fire is hot so the protection and the jewelry=ice, being rich just like in this world the next world is also the same where being rich will help)
That's why I love his genius!!!

Sometimes when you are good at something you become lazy and that hunger is not there but I liked it was written, his album with Damian Marley and his newest album with Kanye they were good too I liked em
But I agree with your point his effort was missing in his latter albums
But what's your reason for not liking illmatic I love it to death

Illmatic is still in my top 5 or 10. Just not my favourite

damn it's cool to find Nas fans on pakpassion. Nas is easily one of my favorite rappers, illmatic is a classic. I never been to New York but the way he story tells is actually amazing. it's like you can picture it all. some of my personal favorite songs are undying love (crazy story telling) ny state of mind, one mic, the world is yours... I could go on for days lol.

it was written is also one of my favorites. the message, take it in blood, affirmative action, I gave you power are all really nice imo.

How did you like his album "Nasir" with Kanye (don't really consider lost tapes an album)
I am not going to post ether here but imo one of the greatest diss song ever maybe second only to tupacs diss
But I never heard undying love is it like a song? But am a search it up no recommended nas song goes unnoticed in my books😁

yah his story telling is top tier. Nasir was alright I liked adam&eve but i really like his old stuff especially his first 2 albums. I used to blast ether all the time when I was younger. I built up a bias against jay z but as I got older I realized jay is actually a really good rapper (he has the best flows, so effortless.) which other rappers do you listen to? I really like kanye west as well especially his old discography.

Nas and the braveharts are my favourite 90 rapper band
Oochie wally wally is my favourite song

Just a moment was a sombre reminder of the reality of rap and when nas began to reign it all in

Same thoughts on Jay z but I personally like nas more tho his verses are more smart like they are more fun to listen to just for the poetry or the lyricism but Jay z can rhyme real good that's all I am going to say.
The first two were classics but other than that most of 2000s was garbage for him there's mandatory 1-2 real good songs in the album but other than that you are always looking for more I really liked distant raelitive for some reason I liked Damian Marley and I liked nas and when they came together that thing was a bomb
I never liked Kanye's work tbh even before MAGA situation but J Cole, Lupe fiasco, Kendrick, tupac and Eminem are real good know a days I am really listening to j Cole like hard core I really think he is special
But I hope NY style hip hop come back to the mainstream cause the word play is what's missing know a days

Prefer G-eazy, Tyga, Migos, Nav, 21 Savage, Cardi B and etc.

people were saying Nas was finished when he dropped oochie wally wally and then he proceeded to drop stillmatic.

yah I really like distant relatives especially patience, such a cool mix of reggae and hiphop. my personal favorite rappers are nas, cole, and lupe. I listen to everything except eminem lol

Nas was finished a long time ago my friend.
Good art never dies people would not remember bunch of mollied out mumblers people will remember tupac, j Cole ,nas, mf doom, Kendrick, and gang starr cause they had something to say and they were skilled with their words

Thats like saying Michael Jackson was finished a long time ago. The label companies try to push 18-22 year olds because they can relate to the younger generation and make more money but that doesn't mean they are any good. These one hit wonder artists come and go but the real ones people remember for decades.

I think he was good before his decline. Never really recovered after 2013 when he faced Steyn. Fixing didn't help his case either. Aane do series will be highlight of his career.

Prefer G-eazy, Tyga, Migos, Nav, 21 Savage, Cardi B and etc.

Apart from 21 savage who has been on the rise recently, everyone else on that list is straight trash in my opinion and shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as naa

One of the greatest ever for sure even after all these years I can listen to his work without it feeling old or dull, always be saving his records to me playlist on spotify. Pac and Nas probably 2 guys I always go back to

Man, dint think id be seeing a Nas thread on here....the man was a legend during the early teens. It is just odd how that type of rap no longer exists....instead we have ermm....these dreadlocked guys with tatoos all over

You know why hip hop changed because the city(NYC) changed in the my early teens I remember our car was always on a monthly basis missing radio with broken windows and every summer you jumping someone or someone jumping you massive savage fights, brawls there's always a old student in your high/middle school who purposely stays behind to recruit gang members, every fall semester there's atleast 10 to 15 girls with visible pregnancy (I know it sounds dark but honestly those were the best days I honestly loved every minute of it but I know it's just nostalgia)

But than whites come to the city and it became hella peaceful but also expensive so know we as a city are going through a mass exodus of people to south (every month there's someone you know who moved south)

And with this migration most of the projects (where this music was being made) is mostly empty and also lost its "vibe". PD cracks hard so the same unruly wild behavior is not happening anymore

"Kings Disease" dropped a month ago

Its not going to be a classic thats for sure but couple of his songs in the album are good
