Aqeel Samar and Sikander Bakht's commentary is a major improvement over Ramiz Raja and Bazid Khan

What a refreshing change to hear Pakistani commentators do their research on players, being aware of recent domestic form, and minimise cringy banter.

Rameez has taken his job for granted for years and has no clue what happens at the domestic level, while Bazid's commentary largely consists of dad jokes and forced banter.

Samar and Bakht should be Pakistan's two permanent broadcasters instead. This obsession with hiring ex-players should end.

Finally we see some sanity, no laughs, no giggles, no embarrassing or humiliating remarks. Just proper old school commentary.

Problem with Rambo and Baz is that both of them have gotten very comfortable in their jobs. This actually happens in most aspects of life when you are doing the same thing over and over and for donkeys years.

Guys just to be clear - this Sikandar is NOT the ex-Pakistan cricketer who has some issues with players etc

These two may have more knowledge but still they are boring. Not suited to T20 cricket.

Best Pakistani commentator is still Amir Sohail.

I still like Rameez better than these two. Rameez adds the entertainment value to Twenty20.

Sikandar Bakht is a very good commentator. Probably the best in Pakistan. Has good language skills and knows the game.

I like these commentators. Sikander Bakht is the perfect replacement for Rambo.

I like Sikander Bakht, not sure if he’s an upgrade on Ramiz or not, but he’s great. Aqeel Samar is definitely not an upgrade on Ramiz.

Sikander Bakht :inti

Sikander Bakht is a very good commentator. A shame he doesn't get to commentate more.

Aqeel Samar shouldn't be commentating anything beyond Advance Telecom Ramazan Trophy.

Agreed. Like Sikander Bakht's commentary, mentioned it during the first T20.

Aqeel needs work.

Sikander would be the best Pakistani commentator IMO. Ramiz tries way too hard to show off his vocabulary tonthe extent that it comes out wrong or out of context sometimes and he doesn't really add value; that said, he certainly represents Pakistan professionally on the international stage... Sikander Bakht though is superior.

I really liked Sikander's commentary. I haven't watched the whole match but from what I watched, maybe he can add a bit of humour; he comes across as very serious (statesman like). But definitely an upgrade over Ramiz and Bazid. All the best to Sikander. May he get more opportunities.

Yes pretty impressive overall. Interesting that you touched the humour part as I think that a bit of that is important as well in commentary and someone like Ramiz keeps on providing few things intentionally as well as unintentionally. Sikandar can definitely try to work bit on that aspect but, not sure how much can you improve that as sometimes its just natural.

I like Sikandar Bakht, he's better than the usual suspects on the commentary round. Aqeel Samar is average, not sure he should be commentating on international cricket.

Can't believe I am seeing fans of Ramiz's commentary on this thread.

However, this also shows how people can live in a self created bubble where they are always right, because they are the only one's there.

Humble pie for me.

Guess it's Stockholm Syndrome. Rameez has milked the 1992 WC winning catch, Aitchison education and his brother's name long enough. He's only good now for flowery vocabulary and cheap jokes. His actual cricket analysis has the same depth as a schoolboy.

Both Samar and Bakht immediately gave Arshad Iqbal's history from the Under 19 World Cup and described his method of bowling - something Rameez and Bazid (who's learned Rameez's bad habits) are incapable of.

I think Bazid was told his style of commentary was too dull. So he decided to go the other way and become apoplectic. What they didn't tell him was that the core of his work - his knowledge of Pakistan domestic - was solid and sought after. He let go that. And therefore has lost his early appeal.

That's true. Ramiz is unintentionally funny. :P
