What's new

Are Babar Azam's good days in Test cricket about to come?

Cant imagine the shock to Babar's system here

Love the field setup here! Great reward for some smart captaincy!

wow. Brilliant. As the stature of batsmen grows teams will try to come up with funky field sets as Steyn opened with a deep third man for Sehwag in a Test and Sehwag promptly slashed one to AMla who was positioned specifically for that.

They wanted to tempt his straight drive because it hops up in the air a bit before continuing on its path.

Brilliant stuff. These types of field settings and tactics are missing in the Pakistan team.

Well if he wants to be a top class test player he is going to need to improve against spin. You can't be average against spin and get big 100s especially playing a lot of games in the subcontinent.

Posters will say he is 26, I mean at the age of 26 most top test players have some gun knocks. Babar has hardly any. Obviously he still has time, but you don't just start producing gun knocks after years of not producing them. I really do hope he can turn it around in tests. Hopefully he gets 1 big one and that can spur him on.

I don't think Babar will retire with a 50+ average at best he will retire with an average of < 45. But People will still claim he is the best Pakistani player just because he plays some awesome cover drives.

He'll end up as the best LOI bat for sure. But LOIs and tests are 2 completely different things. I don't see anyone in the current team capable of hitting 200. Maybe Rizwan

Only 5 hundreds in 61 innings isn't justified he still can get hundreds in tests its disturbing he should be scoring 200s and 300s but apparently gets out scoring 50s can't even get hundreds its frustating to see him get out before 100.

He’s 26 and may be a late bloomer in Test cricket. His record isn’t bad by any means either for a guy who’s played 35 Tests. But, for now, he definitely lacks the concentration and mental focus to be a top 5 Test batsman.
