im sure many of you have seen the video of Iraqi Army soldiers throwing captured ISIS prisoners off a cliff. i totally understand why the soldiers would do that after seeing what ISIS has done to their country. War can severely alter our minds and our propensity to violence as human beings.

Now as deplorable as ISIS are and as widely condemned as they are.

Is executing them without any sort of trial or judicial process justified.

These people bought it on themselves but in a civil society a trial is important before a final verdict is given

It doesn't really matter, we picked a side and backed them because they suit our purpose better than ISIS were ever going to. All this hand-wringing is meaningless at the end of the day. The only concern would be that the Shia militias don't end up creating another ISIS down the line as this is exactly how the current ones came about.

Iraqi forces were involved in extra judicial killings before ISIS even took over and looks like they haven't learned a thing since 2011.

Never because people can be in the wrong place at wrong time. State institutions are most important thing in ending terrorism. If they are not strengthened Iraq has already lost the post ISIS phase. Hopefully U.S. will stop providing them air cover if they continue throwing people off the cliffs.

No.

Neither extra-judicial nor legal execution is ever acceptable, and anyone who supports either is an accessory to murder.

Junaids so even for ISIS terrorists you wouldnt support the death penalty.

The Iraqi Army should learn the lessons from the past.

The American-run detention centres where torture and abuse was rife helped radicalise many Iraqis and was where some of ISIS's leaders emerged.
