Are the government and the military establishment using the U-19 Asia Cup triumph as a PR tool to boost their compromised public image?"

Usually when a team wins a tournament, they get to stay 1 or 2 days at the hotel where they are allowed to enjoy the time off as a vacation have a photoshoot and than called back.

Interestingly, on Sunday when the Pakistan U 19 team won the u19 asia cup, they were thoroughly rushed back directly to Islamabad after a few hours just to have a photo session early on a Monday morning with the army head.

Its abit disturbing how Naqvi is using his role as interior minister and as Acc chief by making such moves, where kids winning a championship are not allowed to celebrate but are made into the govts propaganda tool.

govt institution used for gov PR, whats so surprising? its always been the way, if anything these boys can make some useful connections and if their cricket careers dont work out they could potentially have a useful fall back.

To make matters further weird.

There were fans at the islamabad airport to great these kids. Now i am from islamabad, and i know that no one in pindi and islamabad has free time to go all the way to islamabad airport which is 10 to 13 kms away from the city and to welcome an u19 team in this cold weather.
Infact, i have always been curious, who are these people that turnout in the airport as part of crowd greeting.

I did some digging, and it turns out, the govt asked some of the madrassahs to send their boys to the airport and act as a crowd giving a welcome.

I find it really disturbing how our govt uses these madrassah children, or how these madrassahs are on govt payroll.

Its wrong.

These are u19 kids, who should be protected and not be used by politicians. In this case, the ACC chief himself is using these kids as a political tools for his govts pr.

Massive massive conflict of interest.

We tend to bash india for being political, but we are no better either

everything in pakistan is a conflict of interests, if your interests dont conflict, how can you leverage them?

Madrassah students were told by Islamabad police that Imam Kabaah was coming to Islamabad Airport so recite dua for him to welcome him.

What a country

The U19 players deserve the fame, adulation to beat the Indian team in the manner that they did.

I am not saying they dont deserve fame. But let them enjoy themselves. They are kids.

Let them have 1 or 2 day for themselves. And than do your pr.

They were rushed to the airport and made to stand for the chief. From the pics you can see how tired the kids look and made to be the govts pr tool

Let’s not be sad people. These moments are rare for Pakistan and they have the full right to celebrate as much as they like.

I’m just against over the top stupid aggressive behaviour on the cricket field.

I however do think that the celebrations are OTP, this sort of protocol and celebration would have been justified if our U19 team won the WC.
