I know that we have the legends Mushy and Saqlain bhai who have worked with big teams like England and New Zealand. I also realise that Wasim and Waqar have had stints with IPL teams.

But other than them, do we have any coaches that train any of the big teams (minus Afghanistan)? If not, why don't we have more Pakistanis coaching any of the big teams?

At this point, it only seems to be Saqlain and that's it. This is quite surprising given our history of great bowlers and decent batsmen like MoYo, Inzi, YK, Miandad, Saeed Anwar and even Misbah.

Curious to hear your thoughts! :salute

Speaks volumes doesn't it?

We talk about local coaches are better but never wonder why our coaches/players are not being taken for Head Coach roles?!

When we are unwilling to provide opportunities to our local coaches, how can we expect them to gain international exposure and opportunities?

Pakistan is an intellectually bankrupt cricket nation. The vast majority of the players, ex players, fans, media personnel, coaches etc. don’t understand cricket. Why would anyone want to hire Pakistani coaches?

That is the reason why pakistan became number 1 in ODIs?

Only reason they became number 1 is by picking cheap victories against under-strength opposition.

Name a few proper ODI series that Pakistan has won over the last couple of years to become number 1.

Full strength India, England, Australia and New Zealand will all beat the so-called number 1 team in an ODI series.

There are plenty of local coaches but the management seems hesitant to trust them and never give them an exposure.

Look at India the good thing is that they always prefer coaches from their own country and you can see where their team is standing right now

The reason with India being is that the likes of Dravid, Laxman etc; have been sensible with their heads and let their work speak not like most of our ex players who run their mouths like a motor belt.

The most recent one I can think of is Umar Gul who was the bowling coach of Afghanistan in 2022.

Junaid Khan could be a very good coach

i am surprized how well he analyze the game

Inzamam was the coach for Afghanistan, under his coaching, you all can see the improvement they had.

The best coach should be picked no matter his nationality. I believe ind is losing out on a lot of good foreign coaches because of this. The best coach must be picked - if he is Indian so be it & if he is a foreigner- again ao be it. The skills and the ability of the coach are paramount not the nationality. Shastri and dravid were selected just because ind wanted an indian coach - not because they were the best candidates for the job.
