I respect Misbah immensely and what we has done for us.

However I think our team has become too nice in recent years and we need some characters in the side who aren't going to take chat from anyone and can irritate the opposition too.

Only guy currently is Wahab otherwise our whole Test squad are very timid, quiet characters.

Any guys who are upcoming that are fiery characters?

Sohail khan
when he came to bat in first inning finn said some to him and he was going after him until sarfraz calm him down from the non striker

Well, to sledge etc you need players who can back it up with performances, at the moment we don't have those players, but the fast bowlers need to show some aggression indeed.

Wahab is useless except for world cups. He is not test class. At best, he can be a poor man's Siddle for Pakistan but he is too wayward for a workhorse position. Failing as a batsman too. All the macho aggression is pointless without consistent performance.

Yes, we are too nice, but England have been quite nice too so far.

But don't expect the same in Australia, we have players who get wrecked on the field and then try and suck up to the opposition bowlers (Hafeez in SA with Steyn)

he should have been dropped then for good, showed everyone right there and then that he was a mentally weak .....

It's the one reason I like Wahab, but as a bowler he's so awful that it doesn't matter.

Sohail , Amir and Wahab have attitude of fast bowlers. If Sohail was playing in his younger days he would have had serious showdowns with opoosition. Even Sarfraz looks like a witty character but remauns in his shell. Lets see how aggressive he is as a captain.

Hafeez is too mentally weak a character and technically poor to give it back to any bowler.

Yes that Steyn incident was cringe

Sledging is a natural trait. You can't expect players like Asad Shafiq or Rahat Ali to talk if their heart isn't in it.

I'm reminded of a quote that I saw Jools Holland make on "The Tube" in about 1984.

"It's nice to be important, but it's important to be nice."

Seriously? What is being decent or non-decent to do with our cricketing performamce? Were we setting the world alight before? Wrong cause and effect.

Fair enough, then many of people having a hate at push ups celebration??

We need some hot headed players :)

Rahat is such a lullo with his body language that the moment he comes on to bowl, it is as if, he himself believes to be absolute Cannon Fodder !!!

Just makes me  every time I see him run in.

Very true. A good demonstration of that was what Rohit Sharma and co. did when they tried their hand on sledging. :batman:

I am relieved that this Anglo-Pak series has been played in good spirits so far, with no unpleasant incidents. May it continue through the fourth test and the LO matches. Well done to the Pakistan and England players for behaving like gentlemen.

Aggression is only good when the opposition fears you through your performance. If someone like Kohli is aggressive, it is fine because he commands respect.

When you don't command respect but show empty aggression, you look like a clown. Wahab Riaz is a good example.

We won pretty nicely at lord's. Were doing nicely at edgbaston for three days.

'We have Root's number' wasn't that what Wahab said?

You never know on Oval Pitch which Wahab you see.

Believe in Wahab. He has a fivefer on test debut in England on Oval when he was Slow. His Niggle would have gone in 10 days and he will be fresh. Would bowl 90+mph deliveries in Oval.

Let's see whether he replaces Sohail, Asad or Hafeez.

Siddle? Don't think Wahab can hold one end! Siddle can bowl 10 overs on the trot. Wahab can't!

Predictions are he will replace Rahat and iftikhar will come in for Hafeez.
I don't agree with that though.

Thank the trio for that. Since spot-fixing affair, the players have had to be cleaner than clean with their behaviour and not get involved in any controversies whatsoever.

We used to be quite witty in sledging. Take Amir Sohail's "mother in law" comment to Ian Botham. Javed was the best sledger we've ever had. When Miandad got lucky with an LBW decision in the 1992 WC final, he went over to Derek Pringle, pointed to his pad and said "Allah smiles on me today !"

And who can forget Javed asking Dilip Dosh, in a Test match where the hotel wasn't located far from the ground, for his room number so he could hit a six there.

Nowadays most sledging is crass and totally devoid of any wit or thought.

Cricket in general has changed. All teams have become nicer; even the Aussies.

You now have things like demerit points. There is also social media now. It is hard to get away with bad behaviors.

I am okay with it as long as quality of cricket is fine.

Pakistan team has generally been nice except for some colorful characters.

However, under Misbah, it had become a team trying not to lose rather than trying to win.

The difference since he has left is obvious.

Yes we are missing the bouncers and aggression of a Shoaib Akhtar and such greats. The rules have changed too since those days somewhat curtailing aggressive bowlers. We need more fire in our bowlers.
