The very loud Arnab Goswami who many of us love to hate has quit Times Now. He won't be on The Newshour Debate anymore shouting his head off at every guest who disagrees with his biased and one sided views. There are rumours that he'll be starting his own media outlet or something like that. I am gonna miss his comedy shows:ma

Rubbish anchor, invites guests but never listens to them unless they share his views. An anchor should be neutral and listen to all views. And people say he is the best in India. Wonder how rest are then lols. (To Indians here, don't take last sentence too personally, just had to write it:) )
 
Even Kapil Sharma started his own show. He should name his show ' The Gala Pharo Show with Arnab Goswami' :misbah

Apparently twitter users in India are maintaining one minute of noise in his respect.

Not sure if everyone know but Arnab,Rajdeep,Barkha all were mentored by Roy and were in NDTV ,they got miffed only when they came to know about bias towards Barkha that existed then.
 
The guy who single handedly saved India.. Thank you Arnab for destroying Rahul Gandhi's political career..
 
Respect him for having guts to raise the right issues. If he wasn't so loud, he would actually be one of the most respected journalists in India.

I like Arnab Goswami. He's revolutionized the media so much so that you can refer to it as pre and post-Arnab.

NDTV were great until the late-2000s, but have been floundering since. And Barkha Dutt is horrendously average.
 
Non Indians may not understand why Arnab is popular.

People in desi nations have a lot of pent up anger about various ills of society.

Arnab is their voice.

The way he humiliates politicians of all parties brings a certain sense of satisfaction to people. He does something which the common man wants to do but can't.

And when Arnab does it, the whole nation rallies behind him.

There are times when he may be in the wrong but this guy does his homework well more often than not.
 
What he does is NOT quality journalism but maybe this kind of "get in the dirt" journalism is what is needed in a nation like ours.

Of course, when you wanna watch a classy debate, you have Pranoy Roy who operates like a luxury sedan in cruise mode.
 
And what is Times Now's strategy here?

Who's going to front up on that Newshour show every night?

Are they just going to wilt away? There is no clear 2nd best on that channel.

What Arnab does is proper roasting of his Guests.

Just watch the Om Puri interview. He made Mr. Puri cry like a child and humiliated him.

I wonder why Om Puri stayed the entire interview and did not walk away.

I do agree that he represents the section of society who want to humiliate celebs and politicians and Arnab is their voice.
 
Good riddance.. is a terrible journalist, wasn't worthy of being an editor of a top news agency and is completely unethical to the profession.

Those rejoicing already behold, i am sure he will make a successful come back and haunt every sane headed and rational person in India.

Unfortunately, the tragedy of the India of today is that the public here has become too intolerant, narrow minded and insecure and is receptive to this sort of crass journalism. Sorry to say but, he's already done an irrevocable damage.

On the plus side, i can now unlock this channel after i removed it from my watch list way back in 2010.

People come and go but, you can rest assure whoever its going to be would be following the legacy of the great man.

When humiliating a "guest" is your specialty then that "section" of the society is sick and needs professional help.

Rumour has it that Subash Chandra (Zee owner) and one of the BJP minister from south are teaming up (with backing of other BJP supporters who are keen on investing) and teaming up with Arnab to launch a new venture that will have a large presence in television and digital.

Looks like Arnab is going to become BJP's official cheer leader. :))

I don't agree with this at all.

In India, the more you shout the more you are noticed. Arnab knows that, what he does on television, he has the audacity to call himself a journalist but who gives him that authority? THE NATION (in his words :)) ), he gets the TRP so he gets away with his antics.

If Arnab was such a voice of the people, he wouldnt be the most trolled anchor.

He's just good entertainment from 9 to 11.
 
Apparently Rupert Murdoch is interested in hiring Arnab's services. It is said that after resigning Arnab would like to work abroad thereby welcoming a move to America. If he'd like to work abroad I would like him to come to Pak and tell Nawaz Sharif what most Pakistanis think off him:yk2

Tbh never really followed Indian news channel at all. Only know a bit abt this arnban guy from pakpassion and literally there was no redeeming quality about the 15-20 mins I've watched of him

Honestly journalism and political analysis on the whole seems to be poor in India. Maybe it's just what I see on social media but Tarek Fatah seems to be really popular amongst Indians and to put it bluntly he is a charlatan of the highest order. Like I really find it hard to respect you or take tou seriously if he's someone you seriously listen to.

Anyone i should watch/follow

Why don't other news anchors shout and beat Times Now TRPs?

They now know the formula no....

Yes, shouting works but you need skilled shouting which Arnab is good at. When you are at some politician or party or tragedy, no one can give you the satisfaction of ripping into concerned parties more than Arnab.

People tune in to his show for that.

If they want a civilized debate, other channels are there at the click of a button.

As for voice of nation, I don't know in which context you mean.

Its not like people are ON Arnab's side for everything.

Its not like they look at Arnab as the benchmark for what is right/wrong.

He's just good entertainment from 9 to 11.

Also a few of the guests he brings which represent Pakistan. Like who are they?

Don't think even majority of their family members will recognise them. And they are shown as experts lol
 
Shouting may work sometimes but not all the times. This is why many guests mostly Indian's have often just hung up on him or told him to "shut up". Arnab considers anyone like Burkha Dutt who doesn't agree with him as anti national. That is why the two didn't ever get on or like each other.

Whacko probably. Watched one of his videos and couldn't take it.

Arnab is different. Does his homework even if its to push a point he wants to. He may be in the wrong at times but during many issues, he does brutal take downs that people want to witness.

By voice, I mean when people wanna have a go at various ills of the society and in those moments, Arnab really gives it the way they want to give it.

No my posts don't subtly suggest anything. It explicitly states the reason why public tunes in to listen to him.

If by Indian values, you mean does Arnab represent the views of the common man or to be precise, the views of educated audience, the answer is a resounding NO.

The views of educated audience is fragmented reg various critical issues.

His charged up way of presentation reg various ills in society, screw ups by politicians and parties.....is something which the audience loves as he is the voice who gives it back on their behalf.

That voice is not to be confused as him being the representation of people in the general sense cos he isn't.

He is the king of TRP ratings of English media.

He is a marketing genius really. How he found a gap in the marketplace and used it to gain the highest market share.

Ravish Kumar -NDTV -Prime Time.
The only tv anchor I have seen who actually gives references for the facts he presents on the show so that people can actually cross check.
He did a brilliant series on elections in UP-Bihar and someone like me who had no interest in these 2 states ,watched his shows just because of his brilliant reporting as he went to small villages in both these states.
Watching Arnab is like walking through a fish market,watching Ravish is like watching Gulzar recite poetry.
Sanghi's hate him and love Arnab.
 
Arnab is a bit like our Zaid Hamid! Both always hold the other country for its own problems. I would have loved to see Zaid on "The Newshour Debate", would have been awesome:steyn Neither represent the majority view of their people but would like to think they do. Arnab asks viewers to vote if or not India should attack Pakistan! Even Bollywood actors were laughing at him over this!:))

IMO Arnab is more like Mubashir Luqman. Both are whackos with over the top bias and zero know-how of journalism.

Mubashar is very intelligent and backs up his views with solid practical evidence. Zaid can't get over his obsession with ancient Arab's who had nothing to do with Pakistan. Most of all he is absolutely obsessed with Allama Iqbal to the extent that it's blasphemous. Allah forbid, he almost considers him to be a Prophet.

Thats ashame, you would think society in general should be a lot more open minded compared to before and less insecure but alas not the case.

Arnab is not even remotely close to that joker Zaid Hamid.

Arnab doesn't concort conspiracy theories of annexing Pakistan.

He just shouts and is pro-government. If the government's narrative is anti-pakistan, he'll just follow suit.

I am sometimes amazed at the stunts Arnab pulls off on air, he must have a solid rapport with the TIMES head to get away with what he does, which I am sure other journalists don't enjoy but put up a face of 'ethical' journalism as a front (read:excuse)

And I do agree that people like watching Arnab over others but the part I didn't agree with was the reason he's most watched is because he is voice of the masses.

Bigg Boss gets top ratings, so is tharki baba or fatty dolly bindra voice of the people? Or is Raghu Ram or whatever his name is off Roadies fame whom youth feel they can relate with?

Just because someone has high TRP doesn't mean people agree with the content, people watch for the masala it provides.

Arnab shouts at everyone including guests who disagree with him like Om Puri to an empty chair. He should not be following the government's narrative but putting forward his own independent view. This is what good journalism is all about. Zaid is not always wrong although some of his theories may be far fetched. Nothing is ever black or white, no one is always right or wrong.

Again he may not always be right yet not always wrong either. His views on the government and pro India stance have been accurate. He is correct in condemning the terrible morning shows in Pakistan that propagate all kinds of ridiculous things. He has also pointed out Indian stupidity of catching a Pakistani terrorist who was sitting in Lahore at the time. Many more things as well he has covered over the years.

1. Maybe you haven't understood what I meant by voice of masses. I have explained it in above posts.

2. Just because something has high TRP does not mean EVERYONE watches it just to have a laugh or treat it as a source of drama. Some (or many) watch it cos they like it and connect with it.

3. Arnab gets trolled more in internet cos that's his method operation: POLARIZATION.
