Pretty shameful from Arsenal really with these 55 redundancies ... these cuts have been made according to their PR team for the purpose of ‘ensuring we have the resources to return to competing effectively at the top of the game here and in Europe.’

Really?...so dumb as well ...had they just said they were streamlining the workforce...some jobs aren’t necessary post covid etc...restructuring arguments basically then they may have got a pass...but to claim it to be financial is just pathetic ...

Especially cos the Arsenal players took a 12.5% pay cut with the understanding that this would safeguard all the clubs employees ...Ozil looks quite vindicated now ...didn’t refuse a pay cut but said he would take one provided he was given an explanation for how the money would be used ...

Raul Sanllehi himself has admitted that the pay cuts have ‘helped maintain investment in the team’...so a club bankrolled by a billionaire with 8 billion has made players sacrifice parts of their pay so they can have more money in the transfer market ...rather than protect jobs which is what the players were originally told ...

Jobs as it happens which cost £3.5m a year to the club...less than the FA Cup prize money ...and likely less than Willian and his agents signing on fee...

It’s not the laying off of staff which is the egregious part here ...it’s the club telling fans that people on 30k a year need to be laid off to invest in the team...and selling their own players a pack of lies...well done Ozil for not falling for that ******** ...

Poor from Arsenal. What will those people do now?

Not really got an issue with the redundancies themselves ...I’m speaking as someone who has also been made redundant ...companies are downsizing and I imagine other prem clubs will also cut staff ...

What makes this poor is that Arsenal players were the only once to take a paycut and the reason they did so was to ensure that no one would get cut ...

What have the board done in response ...used the money earned from those pay cuts and put it towards investing in the team ...

If I was an Arsenal player I would be furious and I imagine they are ...well done Mesut Ozil for declining ...

These players are already filthy rich. Cut their salaries by 40% and keep those 55 staffs employed.

This is Arsenal we are talking about. Not some small business.

The players already agreed to a pay cut under the assurance that it would prevent such job cuts. Meanwhile, Stan Kroenke, the owner of the club, is worth $10 billion. He could have covered these redundancies with pocket change.

I see.

Really unfortunate.

You're missing the point...

The Arsenal players did something very nice...and they did so to ensure that noone would lose their jobs...they deserve nothing but praise for that ...

The cost of keeping the staff on is pennies...it's 3.5m ...Arsenal can afford it without cutting salaries...but they wanted to cut jobs anyway...which in itself isn't wrong...

It's lying to the players and spending their salaries on transfers and contracts that is a disgrace...

Yup.

Players should sue. These greedy company owners disgust me.

This came as no surprise to me given our poultry spending in the 2010s, which shows the lack of ambition in the club. We all hoped after paying off the debt to build Emirates, it was time to compete for the PL and UCL. Unfortunately, we have done the contrary. Just makes you wonder what was the point of moving away from Highbury?!

Going back to the topic, this is another reason why no Arsenal fan should attend the matches and buy their merchandise. I haven't been to the Emirates since 2018 and will continue to boycott until there are clear signs of showing aspiration to go back to our glory days.

Not sure what the issue is, it's a fair point.

Arsenal is a club lacking of morals, this is no surprise. Its fair to prove this by them accepting sponsorship from a pariah nation, along with being very nasty to Wenger who is their greatest ever manager.

Arsenal wont make top 4 next season.

Nah Wenger overstayed his welcome. We were too gentle with him. He should have been kicked out 10 years ago because he was regressing as a coach.

Having said that, I agree it is a club run by a group of immoral old men and have no chance of making top 4 next season.

Agree Wenger should have gone but there is a civil way of wanting change, some not all Arsenal fans went overboard with vile abuse at their GOAT manager, was sad to see.

Fans need to boycott Arsenal, making people redundant while wasting millions of average players is a disgrace.
