Lot of hopes for this young man - should be good to see what speeds he bowls at as well as movement he gets.

Indeed... He has a good opportunity to impress as he is playing for the same team as the national captain! He can also learn from the experience of Mohammad Amir...

Will be a good test today as he is up against a decent batting lineup including Tom Banton, Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Sammy etc... Hopefully he can impress like young Akif has in his first PSL game!

Thought he's a better test bowler

But heard he has quite a few variations up his sleeve.

Arshad getting some beating in his first over - speed also not express...17

Speed was as I expected around 135 and sometimes high 130s but unfortunately corridor bowling which is his strength wasnt there and lengths were way off. Probably nerves because of the stage.

Haven’t seen him previously but very impressive today, hitting the deck very hard!

141,3 just now

He is one of my favorite young bowlers from the next batch. He's from the same batch as Musa, and Shaheen and has done well in domestic cricket.

I hope they don't let him get lost in the maze of our domestic structure.

Ehsan Adil, Sameen Gul, and Arshad Iqbal can be a very useful trio for test matches and need to be worked upon as back-up options to Naseem, Shaheen, and Abbas.

Bowling better today. Touched 140kph too.

This is one of those cases where you need to forget about the speed clock. First time I've had a look at this guy, and even when he's bowling mid-130s he looks far more difficult to bat against than Musa Khan who bowls 140's.

I like this guy from what I've seen today, his short pitched bowling was giving batsmen some real difficulties.

Missed his bowling today. Can you elaborate what he did so great?

Rushed every single batsman today with his pace off the wicket. He hits the deck hard and showed the ability to bowl those hard balls. Was pretty accurate as well today.

Yes speed gun showed him touching 141 or so kph but the ball was hitting the bat and coming to the batsman at real pace and everyone was getting late on timing.

Can he swing the ball ?

He can get bit of natural deviation but with his current style of bowling he will be more reliant on seam movement and trying to generate bit of bounce and pace through the surface.

He can reverse the older bowl which his action helps with as well.

We have quite a few natural kiss the surface kind of bowlers in Amir, Shaheen, Naseem, Hasan, Shinwari etc.

Arshad is hit the deck bowler which are a rare breed in Pakistan cricket even through the history so I hope he works hard as he can provide a much needed variety to Pak bowling resources especially in tests.

His run up is a bit all over the place. His limbs seem to be flailing wildly and he does the shuffle steps close to the crease which show he hasn't quite nailed his run up yet.

Once he sorts that out, he could be a useful bowler. If he increases his pace, he could be in the Harmison type of range.

His pace is good for his style of bowling. I agree regarding the run up part, he has been having issues for past year or two maybe due to an injury or two or just lacking overall rhythm.

In 2018 his run up was decent in comparison

I don't particularly think he has to increase his pace - the fact that he is in the 132-140kph range means he's fast enough for his other attributes to take over. I simply meant that he reminded me somewhat of Steve Harmison and could do a similar role but Harmison was quicker.

And thank you for the video. I agree, his run up looks a lot smoother there. He needs to get back to that as soon as possible. I noticed his run up on the first ball and it was not surprising to see him pull out 3 times in his second over. (On a separate note, pulling out as opposed to just bowling shows good character).

What was impressive was that despite struggling with his run up, he didn't panic, just stopped mid stride and started again. He didn't no-ball as a result and still kept the pressure on with well aimed lines. He showed a very cool head all things considered.

Yeah completely agree. At such a big stage, knowing there is pressure for overrates etc and so many people watching, it must have been tempting to just bowl and get out of the over.

Always had the height and the pace and his control seems to have gotten much better, room for improvement is always there but will be good to see him in the next edition of PSL

He did play for KK in last season. Started off badly but, was decent in the opportunities given afterwards.

Showed good control and knew what he was doing.

Was excellent today. Seems to have been bowling with decent pace too.

Been busy today so didn't get a chance to watch but that's good to hear.

We need to invest in tall pacers who can hit the deck hard like Bashir and Iqbal, not short skiddy types like Musa Khan or hasbeens like Imran Khan and Sohail Khan. Otherwise we'll face more beatings in southern hemisphere.

Bashir is short.

I agree. Pathetic that bashir got a game after so long even though I rate Arshad more. I don't think he got a game last season. Hoping for both of them to have a solid run this season. Agree about musa etc shouldn't be near our team, but misbah loves oldies so the like of imran and sohail will keep finding a place till misbah is around.

I saw him today and he was very average. Who creates the hype for these guys. Do they even watch them?

He has done well at first class level (averages 20), has decent control on line and length and swings the new ball. His lack of height is his main issue.

Lack of height for Arshad? He is easily over 6'

Normally you get a feel of a bowlers quality very quickly even if the stats are dodgy. He isn't very good.

Arshad, Sameen, and Akif should be developed as test bowlers instead of letting them play mindless t20 cricket. All of them have the height and the ability to hit a hard length consistently and can prove to be valuable assets if developed properly.

They are also all in the right age bracket for the board to invest in them.

Enough with Sohail Khan, Shinwari, Imran Khan (sr) and other players who we keep having a never ending romance with.

Any guess at what pace Irshad bowl today

Probably around high 130s, some early 140s kph. In PSL with speed gun he was regularly in high 130s kph and some over 140 kph.

Arshad Iqbal too in test......

And your willing to induct him in the squad with so many youngesters already in the squad I rather him perform in doesmtic

Didn't knew he played nothing in first class...may be injured....but by now he should have played atleast 10 15 matches

Yes esp tests.....both Saheen Naseem would improved a lot if they play some first class matches....I mean a season or two....same for Shadab ....

Back in PSL6 as the only Emerging category player that Karachi retained.

Good first over bowling to Gayle and Ayub, just 4 off it.

Beauty of a delivery to clean up Cutting there. Very well bowled in the first game of psl 2021.

Arshad smashes Cutting's leg stump out the ground! Big wicket at the end of a very good over

Finishes today with figures of 3/16 from 4 overs. :salute

Tall, hits the pitch hard, reasonably accurate and decent bowling intelligence.

Keeps it simple.

Wicket to wicket bowling and on a good length,

He's not the quickest, but does a good job for KK.

Better than many very mediocre ones we have like Rauf, Musa and many others.

The guy looks innocuous but gets good bounce and can bowl a heavy ball. Batsmen get surprised when he ends up being quicker and tougher than they think

Bowled well today.

Should look to bowl according to his strengths, and put up some good performances.

Not international quality yet, but can be developed by KK.

Bowls with a brain at least, something which can't be said for some of our other bowlers.

He gets good bounce and bowls wicket to wicket. If he can increase is pace a little bit more then he will be dangerous. He has plenty of time to learn.Needs to play first class cricket for another couple of years.

Had a good start, key for him to perform consistently in this PSL and his stocks will rise significantly.

Currently there are not too many tall, strongly built fast bowler in Pakistan with lively pace . He is better than very mediocre bowlers like Rauf, Musa and sadly Naseem .

Test matches in SENA may be the best way to utilise this guy. Doesnt look like a bowler who will do well in all conditions/formats

I like what i see in this bowler and he looks hungry to succeed ...if he ends up having a good psl tournament he should get a chance to represent the national team
