Naseem Shah in post-Day 4 press conference of 1st Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh:
Q: About Pitch used in 1st Test against Bangladesh:
"I think the pitch was prepared with the intention of being helpful for bowling, but maybe due to the heat, we didn't get the expected support from the pitch, especially with the new ball. Now we need to think about how we can take advantage of home conditions. If I talk about myself, I've played after a gap of 1-1.5 years, and initially, it took me some time to get into the rhythm."
Q: About Playing with four fast bowlers:
"The weather is hot, and we didn't get the support we expected from the pitch as a bowling unit. This is why we call it Test cricket, because it tests you in all aspects, and as a bowler, you need to be more disciplined and patient. Due to the hot weather, there's no margin for error - if you bowl a bad ball, you'll get hit easily. And as a bowler, no matter how patient you are, you'll make mistakes eventually. We made mistakes in 2-3 spells as a bowling unit, which cost us a lot of runs. In my opinion, our mindset was that this pitch would give a lot of advantage to fast bowlers, but it didn't turn out that way. Obviously, the purpose of playing four fast bowlers is to attack with fast bowling, but I don't think we'll get much help from this pitch due to the grass and dryness."
Q: About bowling techniques and fielding:
"Reverse swing matters, but when the square is all green, it's not easy to get the ball to reverse swing. Reverse swing only happens when the square is dry and the ball is consistently hitting the same spot, making it rough on one side. Yes, catches were dropped, but I think we fielded well and put in good efforts as a fielding unit. We'll try not to repeat the dropped catches."
Q: About how to take home advantage:
"These things are not in our hands, but we need to take advantage of home conditions in whatever way possible. We need to think about what kind of pitches we can prepare to gain an advantage. If we can't prepare a green pitch that helps fast bowlers, then we should make it helpful for spinners or whatever way possible. Test cricket has changed a lot; people come to enjoy good Test cricket, and the crowd has come in this hot weather, so we need to entertain them. It shouldn't be like this even when we're on the field, so we may feel that these things are difficult. Definitely, these things are not in my hands, but there's a need to think about it."
