As a Pakistani fan, would rather have Pakistan face Australia or South Africa in the semis?

I feel like south africa could be beat Pakistan but we still got a chance against Australia.

South Africa would be the easier side. Their bowling is quite weak compared to Australia.

Our weak link despite winning 3 games , are our batsmen we have already handicapped the team with 2 pensioners who won't retire .

When we come across a stronger bowling unit could be humiliating collapse if rizwan and Babar get out early.

Definitely South Africa, but in a one off T20 game anything can happen.

I think it will be the Aussies though.

Wouldn’t really rate the Aussie batting line up currently, they will struggle against our spinners and having played South Africa recently it gives Pakistan a good sense of familiarity.

Neither should be an issue for Pakistan.

The only team Pakistan should fear from here on out is England.

If we finish top of our group (which should be a formality) where do we play our semi? Abu Dhabi or Dubai?

Australia. Because we haven't smashed them yet.

South Africa we have smashed plenty of times this year. No fun in seeing that again.

Don't mind either. Aus has been poor this WC and could crumble if we bowl well.

SA are serial chokers and have a bits and pieces batting order. Would only be worried about RVD with them.

lol there's a reason why...

Australia gives Pakistan a thrashing like no other. While I would love to see it more than anything else, I just think Australia always find a way to wreck us.

Worth noting however, Markram, Van Dussen & Miller have consistently killed our bowling lineups.

We have a mental block about Australia.

Their name alone, unconsciously, puts us under pressure for no apparent reason.

SA doesn't have too many big names in their squad so our players will be someone confident stepping into the ground.

I say the probability of winning against SA is higher.

I think Hayden’s psychological uplifting of the side should help us deal with Australia if needed but I would much rather prefer SA. We have been a better white ball side than them for quite some time now.

Oh please.

Australia came here in 2018. We smashed them 3 zip.

I don't see why we should be scared of teams that are simply not our level in these conditions. We are 5-2 against South Africa in T20Is this year. And Australia has an incredibly unbalanced side in which only a handful of key players are currently performing.

Based on the kind of cricket we have been playing in the UAE for the last 5 years we have every reason to be confident. Because on paper England is the only side that you could argue is better than us in this tournament. I wouldn't agree with you, but I would see the merit of that argument.

Much different team and worse team though. It didn't have Warner, Smith, Stoinis & Wade along with their elite bowlers with the exception of Zampa. Pakistan squad was close to the exact one currently at the WC.

Write off Australia at your own peril.

England , England can loose their next two games...

I too feel there would be less pressure facing them in the semis than in the finals, considering how tough they are. Beating them there would really boost our confidence and help carry the momentum against AUS/SA/NZ in the final.

SA's bowling is weaker, so I'd rather take them. I'm afraid of what Glen Maxwell could do to us, plus in knockouts, Australia has usually thumped Pakistan. Either way, we need to bat first in our next two games against Namibia and Scotland. We might not get lucky with the toss in the semis or finals, and could be put to bat by the opposition. We need to practice in order to prepare for that.

As a neutral fan, I would like to see England vs New Zealand final and want NZ to win this time. Currently it seems like Pakistan will reach the final and win this tournament. :inti

Both are terrible T20 sides.

Pakistan should win against both. England will be the huge mountain for Pak to climb.

Not really. It was a competent side like pretty much every Australian side is. Not to mention, it was a higher ranked T20 side than this current Australian side.

No one is writing them off but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be confident of our chances.

Australia in this tournament has alot of kinks in its armor. The bowling attack lacks balance. In the batting, only a select few are firing. Smith looking badly off-color and isn't that much of a T20 batsman to begin with, Warner has been out of from since IPL. Hazelwood has been exposed the most probably because he comes off as a highly one-dimensional bowler for this format. In the spin bowling department they are relying far too heavily on Zampa.

While Australia will be competent and obviously challenge you if they are one of the semi-finalists. That doesn't mean they cannot be beaten.

Australia because Pak cant play left arm spinners that well. SA got shamz n keshav

I don't mind either, but leaning towards SA.

Just don't want Eng until the final.

Eng look like an unstoppable force atm, so best time to play them would be in the final where the pressure is on and anything can happen.

I think we should be able to beat both but I'd rather play South Africa in Semi Final

I want Australia to win the whole thing but I wouldn't mind an Afghanistan vs South Africa final, a real possibility :)

Janoobi Africa no doubt about it. We tend to do much better against them compared to the Aussies.
