What's new

Asad Shafiq as a slip fielder

wish he had same confidence when doing his primary job

Was excellent at gully but it's time to move him to the slips. As the person above said he needs to score in this test though

Was surprised to see him catch those, seeing the other drops in the morning.Looking good.

His primary job is batting. Good catch is just a bonus

In countries like Aus,England,Saffers its almost a primary job considering the pace of the ball, might not matter much in UAE but slip catching is everything in those countries.

That is exactly the mentality that the Pakistani cricketers have that leads to so many important catches being dropped and losing matches due to those catches. If we change this mentality only then we can succeed.

Yes but how much he score? We need good batsmen + fielders.

Yes he needs to score, but just fielding and catching also needs to be a priority. We can't just let fielding be an afterthought.

Did an excellent job in the field, unfortunately the same can't be said for his batting. Really hope he comes good this tour, he's going through some rough form.

great catch today.. only if posters here can stick to the topic of 'catching' but i guess its too much to ask

I believe any other guy (barring Shadab maybe) would've dropped that 1st catch 9 times out of 10. That ball was travelling fast!!

What a catch it was. I was upstairs getting ready for work and I just heard the commentators on TV shouting about how good the catch was. Hopefully it gives Shafiq confidence to bat well. Did anyone else see the ball hit Shadab once Shafiq threw it out of his hands, think it bounced off someone's foot and smacked Shadab right in the face :))

Glimpse of Younis Khan!!
I hope he goes on for another 15 years and catching 500 more wickets.

The only place where he can fit in is no. 12 when carrying drinks.

He is crucial in slips.

First it was Younis now it's Shafique.

Hope he scores in this series. He is in form and it's just a confidence thing atm.

Crucial series for him as despite those hundreds here and there he hasn't been consistent.

Seems to be the only thing he’s capable of doing without being a complete coward.

I only remembered him Playing the game when he took a catch else he was never a highlight in field or batting
