Asia Cup 2022 Broadcast Thread

Does anyone know who is showing the Asia Cup on TV and Digital Stream in Canada and Pakistan?
 
The management of Asia Cup has to be one of the worst for any professional sports. There is no transparency about broadcasting with just one week to go. I enquired with them but no response. And then we wonder why international cricket is being overtaken by cash rich leagues.

Star Sports & Disney Hotstar is the only confirmed broadcaster for now.

No one has picked the rights yet in UK as far as I know. I have asked Hotstar and below is their response:

This is an Asia problem in general IMO. In North American and other western bloc like England/Australia etc, you see schedules out with exact well in advance, sometimes as much as a year and tickets go on sale much sooner and you know what channel is going to broadcast it.

I am not sure why its so poor in Asia and tickets go on sale so late and everything seems like a last minute scramble.
 
I guess in the UK it will be a last minute deal with the likes of Hum Madsla.

True, its really pathetic. I have been desperately trying to find info on streaming and TV rights in Canada to no avail.
 
YuppTV in Australia. They have already put up the package details.

This is so frustrating

Surely Sky or BT can broadcast the Asia cup. They are broadcasting Zimbabwe v Bangladesh for crying out loud!

Does he not hate Pakistan in general? Shouldn’t really have a guy like that on commentary or any sports presenting platform tbf.

Hes a sitting MP / candiate for MP (?) for BJP. A political figure. Not sure what he is doing in a commentary panel. Should not be allowed.

Utsav Gold has acquired the UK rights to broadcast the Asia Cup 2022, starting Saturday 27th August until Sunday 11th September 2022.

The tournament will not be available on any other linear TV channel or OTT platform in the UK. Utsav Gold will hold full UK broadcast rights.

The Asia Cup 2022 is a six-team tournament that will be held in UAE. It will see India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan vie for the winning title. What makes the tournament more interesting is the face-off between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, with the first set to take place on Sunday 28th August 2022.

Utsav Gold is available on Sky channel 717 and Virgin Media 801.

Well it's a HD channel which is good news.

Looks like an Indian entertainment channel.
 
That’s good news that it’s not Hum Maslala!

Whilst we are on the subject, who is broadcasting the Netherlands game on Sunday? Haven’t had the chance to watch the first two matches, and so would be good to tune in on Sunday if it’s showing in the UK.
 
I miss the days of Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. He was one sensible commentator.
 
Any idea who is showing in Canada? Or any digital subscription streaming app?

I know Willow is not showing Asia Cup in Canada

ICC is showing it free on their TV website i think.

Checked out the channel. It was showing some dodgy Bollywood film, but the picture was crystal clear :)

For the Canadians here, it seems that hotstar is the only option. $50 subscription for the full year. $4.16/month...not too shabby

Too late in Australia as the games start at 11:30 PM local time so not sure if I should bother taking the package.

I don't think there is any TV in the world with partial mute capabilities anyway... So you always have to mute the 'whole' TV whenever you mute

Hotstar seems to be a lock in for Canada. Where did you hear about the ICC app? Also, any news on TV broadcast? I got a fibe sub with bell.

Hotstar subscription can be cheaper if you renew during Indian holidays specially Diwali. Couple years ago we got 2 years subscription for $79 or so.
I’m not to sure about Yupp TV, quite frankly never even heard of it. Hotstar is much better and reliable between the two.

I believe in India Disney+Hotstar is same thing but here we don’t get Disney+ on our regular Hotstar subscription and vice versa. You would need actual Hotstar subscription to watch Asia cup.
 
Who is showing the match in the UK?

Can't see this being available on sky sports or bt sports.

Be prepared to have to listen to the same ghissi pitti tales of reverse swing from Wasim Waqar. Should have inducted urooj mumtaz, thought her commentary was a breath of fresh air.
 
Commentators have been pretty average to be honest.

Seem like some of them haven't done their homework.

Appalling mistake and Wasim rightly peeved.
 
I was fuming when I saw that Hassan Ali has crept in the side over Dahani and Hasnain.
 
Decent picture quality but way way way too many adverts. Basically any excuse for an ad break they took and it wouldn't just be one advert but 2 or even 3. Sometimes we would see one ball then they'd go for am ad break e.g. at the end of the over and then if there was a wicket. The number of adverts made it quite a frustrating game to watch
 
As an Indian Viewer with Disht Tv and OTT subscriptions, the quality of picture has been extremely good.
I really reall want them to have 4k Picture though. Really need it for the t20 wc.
Full HD 1080 P is so 2015.
 
Some of the commentary during this tournament has been amongst the worst you will ever see.
