ATG players across each decade

On a boring Sunday, I felt it would be nice to make these list now when there is no cricket and the priority is social distancing.

Below I have tried to list down the ATG cricketers that have been produced in each decade. Starting from 1970s to 10s, below is my list.

To conclude, 1980s and 1990s have been the decades where we had highest number of truly great players as the count is 10. 2000s was very close with 8 and there has been drastic fall in previous decade with the count being only 4.

I know a strong case can be made for many more cricketers but it will ultimately become subjective.

An interesting part is that India have produced one ATG cricketer in every single decade. So, India didn't went to trash level ever in last 50 years IMO.

Dale Steyn got 267 of his test wickets in 2010s. So, he should be there in teens.

In 2000s, G Smith, Hayden and Kumble should be there.

If you go by the players with the most secure positions in their national teams over the last decade, interestingly they are all ATGs with exception of one in this list - Kohli, AB DeVilliers, Mohammed Hafeez, Steven Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson If we talk about batsmen.

smith is better than both I reckon. He played more clutch innings away from home.

Aahaa, Walsh played that many tests because he was good enough for that many and still averages under 25. Others weren't.

Shaun Pollock a bottler, whoopie! By the same token, even Waqar is a bottler. Never stood up in World cups 1996 and 1999. Pollock has a fifer in 1999 semi final.

Do you know Pollock was averaging about 20 with over 300 wickets at one point? Atleast give some credible arguments.
