Mirror Now has an update on the shocking news that an attempt was made to kill Bollywood star Salman Khan. The plan was designed to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan after Sidhu Moose Wala. The Times Network today reveals the most stunning twist in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder investigation: A sharpshooter nearly killed Bollywood superstar Salman Khan outside his home. In this exclusive revelation, we reveal that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was nearly slain by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A sharpshooter tried to assassinate the megastar while he was riding, but he backed out at the last moment by chance.

Bollywood actor narrowly escaped an assassination attempt, reported Indian media. Times Network first reported the news and shared that a sharpshooter with a small-bore weapon hidden in a modified hockey casing carry out the assassination of the famous Bollywood star. The sharpshooter was reportedly planted outside the actor’s residence.

The perpetrators had allegedly conducted a recon of the Dabangg actor’s house and discovered that Khan does not accompany security guards when he goes cycling in the morning. The report further added that the assassins were aware that the actor was vulnerable at the time and devised a plan to eliminate Khan. Lawrence Bishnoi, a suspect in Punjabi rapper and politician Sidhu Moose Wala's murder case, sent the sharpshooter.

However, the plot was later foiled as the sharpshooters were about to carry out their plan and Khan was about to leave his house that morning, an escort of the Mumbai Police was at his gate, engaged with the actor because he had a public function that day.

This sudden development perturbed the sharpshooter and his associates, and they decided that now was not the time to carry out their plan. They were afraid of being apprehended by police, as per the publication.

Previously, following the harrowing murder of Moose Wala by a gang troupe, the Bollywood actor's security had been beefed up. The 56-year-old actor has been on the radar of criminal groups for a long time now and according to Indian media, police officials have enhanced the protection unit outside his residence.

According to Pinkvilla, a sudden preventative measure was taken after gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s name emerged as the key suspect accused in Moose Wala’s murder. A senior police official told the publication that Mumbai police has enhanced the overall security of the Dabangg actor to ensure he's safe from any harmful intentions of the Bishnoi gang, which operates from Rajasthan.

Khan has been on Bishnoi's radar after the infamous blackbuck poaching case during the shoot of his 1999 blockbuster Hum Saath Saath Hain. The Bishnoi community considers the blackbuck to be a sacred animal and Khan’s involvement in poaching had hurt the community's sentiments.

In 2018, Bishnoi went so far as to threaten Khan that he’ll kill him. Rahul alias Sunni, one of Bishnoi’s close associates arrested in 2020 for murder, said that they had not only hatched a plan to kill Khan but had even visited Mumbai to conduct a recce for the murder.

Any specific reason why they wanted to kill Salman Khan?

Examining this story - it looks like he staged this himself for PR reasons.

From the OP.

Salman Khan should seek asylum. Pakistan would warmly welcome him and give him some roles.

If they tried but failed to get him once they'll do so again. In India even Muslim names won't soon be tolerated.

Actor Salman Khan has applied for a gun licence after he and his father got a death threat in early June, just days after singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead near Punjab's Mansa on May 29.

The actor came to the Mumbai Police headquarters today and met with top cop Vivek Phansalkar for a gun licence, people with direct knowledge of the matter said. Salman Khan wants to own a gun to protect himself and his family, they said.

His visit to the police headquarters was for physical verification before the licensing authority, a mandatory step in applying for a gun licence, sources said.

Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan had received a threat letter in early June, just days after Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by members of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who had threatened the actor in 2018 too.

Lawrence Bishnoi's death threat to Salman Khan was linked to the black buck poaching case of 1998, in which the actor was one of the accused.

The actor's father had found the unsigned letter on a bench where he sits daily after jogging in the morning.

Lawrence Bishnoi, who had been serving time in Delhi's Tihar Jail, is in Punjab Police custody in connection with the investigation into the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala.

Mumbai: Police beefs up security outside actor Salman Khan's residence after threat email

Mumbai Police has beefed up security outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence after he received threats by email.

Earlier on Saturday, Mumbai Police booked jailed gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar and Rohit Garg for allegedly sending threatening emails to Khan's office. Khan has been provided with Y+ category security by authorities.

Last year, Khan and his father Salim Khan received another death threat, with Salim Khan's security team finding a letter outside their Mumbai home near the Bandra Bandstand promenade, where he would go for his routine morning jog.

After receiving the letter, Salman Khan submitted an application to the Mumbai Police seeking a weapon licence for his own protection.

In October last year, Delhi Police made a revelation regarding the alleged plot to kill the actor, disclosing that members of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang hads tried to befriend the staff at Khan's Mumbai farmhouse in order to ascertain details about the timings of his entries and exits.

As someone who grew up in Chennai (not south India, Chennai) I spent years watching Bollywood films where characters who were reportedly ‘south Indian’ wore ridiculous amounts of ‘gajra’ in their hair, spoke Hindi in loud voices and had exaggerated accents. They were always part of the supporting cast or worse still, comic relief. They were reduced to one heterogenous stereotype that had no nuance or insight.

Sadly, almost three decades later, nothing has changed as Salman Khan’s new film, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan shows. Or to paraphrase Lucius Malfoy’s line, just when you thought Bollywood could stoop no lower in its shameless generalization of southern India, it does.

Ever since Pushpa released and made Bollywood scratch their heads and quake in their boots simultaneously, there have been attempts at making every Bollywood film a pan-Indian phenomenon. A collaboration between actors and industries is a wonderful idea on paper. But if they are not handled competitively, they end up being nothing more than an unmitigated disaster.

Kisi ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan features Salman Khan as ‘he who has no name’ or religion and is referred to as Bhaijaan by his three brothers and everyone in his pin code. The voluntary bachelor bhaijaan meets his match in Telugu girl Bhagya, (Pooja Hegde) short for Bhagyalakshmi, who restores antiques and quite poetically even falls for one. What else can one say about a man who is over two decades older to her and says regressive things like ‘one wrong woman can break a family’?

So, Bhagya is from Hyderabad and her ‘annaya’ or elder brother is played by Venkatesh Daggubati, a popular Telugu movie star. Her wealthy family lives in Hyderabad reportedly, but their home looks like a large farmhouse style villa that could even be in Lonavala. Just before we travel to the hinterlands of Hyderabad, a banana leaf appears on screen to announce ‘Welcome to the world of South India’ complete with flower and coconut graphics. That this can happen in 2023 seems hard to believe, but this is why truth will always remain stranger than fiction.

So, cut to Hyderabad ki haveli, which is home to Bhagya’s Alok Nath-esque Annaya and his extended family who look like they emerged from a Sooraj Barjatya fantasy. They wear vibhuti and kumkum, celebrate local festivals, and intersperse Telugu dialogues with accented Hindi. Poor Rohini Hattangdi looks apologetic for being a part of this reductive mess where ‘Balaji Balaji’ blares loudly in the background when the Telugu family prays. Their last name is conveniently Gundamaneni, which Salman reduces to Gunda in an attempt to scare the villain.

But to watch grown men approaching their sixties wear a white and gold ‘veshti’ and thrust their crotch repeatedly while singing about lifting their ‘lungi’ is almost too much to bear. Does one call these hip thrusts vulgar, juvenile, or asinine? It’s a true dilemma.

The Telugu speaking folks aren’t all cute bunnies. There is also a super villain played by Jagapathi Babu who is, and I quote, a ‘psychopath and sadist’. So, men in Hyderabad are either sweet or they are nasty. There is no other option. There is a pan-Indian collaboration in the villainy too. The Telugu villain has a Haryanvi counterpart who is as much of a stereotype. There is also a legendary Rowdy Anna who became silent after being violent for a long time. No surprises about who that is, because how can a popular male actor not be allowed to indulge in senseless violence and aggression?

The desperation to woo audiences from the southern states is so strong, it leaves you feeling equal parts sorry and disgusted. The films in various south Indian languages, whether KGF, Pushpa, Kantara or even RRR succeeded because they remained rooted in their local sensibilities while incorporating universally understood themes and conflicts. Some of these films did have a pan-Indian cast. But the Bollywood actors in these films were an organic part of the narrative, not a bribe or incentive to attract audiences.

Dancing in veshtis and calling them lungis, portraying Hyderabad like a cute village from the 90’s, using random Telugu words in songs which have no significance to the characters or relevance to the movie, and casting actors to cash in on the pan-Indian trend are just a few of the many blunders committed by Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. No lungi can hide the filmmaker’s condescending attitude towards the audience he is attempting to appease. This is exactly why Hindi films have never traditionally done well in the southern states. Why don’t we focus instead on making films with characters and emotional conflicts that anyone can relate to?

To quote Salman from the film, “It’s not about power, it’s about will power”. Let’s put away the lungis, annas, and all other stereotypes and stop embarrassing ourselves in this manner.

Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi claims responsibility of firing outside Salman Khan’s residence

Hours after the shocking incident of firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, Mumbai Police swung into action. Multiple steps have been taken and security has been increased outside the actor’s Galaxy apartment.

Security increased, multiple probe teams formed

Apart from increasing the security outside Salman Khan’s residence, Mumbai Police have also registered a case against an unknown person. Police have started the hunt for shooters and formed several teams to nab the accused. Mumbai Police have also recorded the statements of more than 5 people in connection with the case. A Mumbai Police officer said that Salman Khan was present in his house when the firing took place.

Maharashtra CM dials Salman Khan

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had a telephone conversation with Salman Khan regarding the firing incident. Shinde also held discussions with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and suggested increasing the security of the Bollywood actor.

Earlier threat to Salman Khan

This is the second time Salman Khan has been under threat. Earlier, the superstar received death threats in 2023. Mumbai Police had filed an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar in March 2023 after they allegedly sent the threat via mail to the actor's office. The police, in September 2023, had also reviewed the security outside Khan's house, asking him to be alert.

Salman Khan’s work front

Even though the actor does not have any film release scheduled in 2024, the ‘Sultan’ actor recently announced the title of his next film ‘Sikandar’ in collaboration with A R Murugadoss. The superstar was recently seen on Eid when he came out to his balcony to greet his hundreds of fans.

Yeah, the impunity with which he threatens and kills anyone, isn't something to be scoffed at.

Another attack planned on Salman Khan at his farmhouse: Indian media

Weeks after firing outside his Mumbai home, the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang has planned another attack on Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, reportedly at his Panvel farmhouse.

As per the reports from Indian news agencies, another attempted attack was planned on Salman Khan while he was on his way to his Panvel farmhouse, disclosed the Mumbai police.
The officials also confirmed that four members of the Bishnoi gang were arrested last week under suspicion of plotting a second attack.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Pansare shared that the arrested accused, identified as Dhananjay Tapesingh alias Ajay Kashyap, Gaurav Bhatia alias Nahvi, Vapsi Khan alias Waseem Chikna and Rizwan Khan, stayed in Panvel and had been planning to target the ‘Tiger 3’ star for a long time. “Bishnoi has several groups working independently of each other, and we suspect one gang was conducting a recce in Panvel while the other was in Mumbai,” he stated.

Reports also suggest that one of the accused was in touch with someone to buy AK-47 guns for the attack and had planned to hide, before meeting in Kanyakumari to leave the country for Sri Lanka.

Firing at Salman Khan’s house

Earlier, the two bike-borne assailants fired five rounds outside Khan’s residence in Galaxy apartment of Bandra on April 14, out of which one bullet landed on the balcony in his residence.

Hours after the shocking event, Anmol, brother of Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the incident in a social media post. The purported post by him read, “Salman Khan, do not take us lightly. This firing incident was just a trailer so that you understand our strength.”

The crime branch of Mumbai Police arrested at least six accused of the gang, for their involvement in the Bandra firing case.

For the unversed, Bishnoi had openly admitted to plans of eliminating Khan for killing a black buck [which is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community] in 1998.
