Australia have won the toss and have opted to field in their Super 12 game against Bangladesh:

Finch: We gonna have a bowl first. Just want it exploit any moisture on offer. Mitch Marsh comes in for Ashton Agar. That's the only change

Bangladesh have the upper hand on Australia due to recent results

The Australian Squad for Bangladesh was a 2nd or 3rd 11 at best. The only squad members from Bangladesh that are in the current T20 Squad are Wade, Marsh, Agar, Hazelwood and Zampa. No Finch, Warner, Maxwell, Smith, Starc, Cummins - need I say more? Secondly, the wickets in Mirpur were low, slow spin friendly - prepared solely to give Bangladesh the best chance of winning (nothing wrong with this - however, these wickets give a huge advantage to Bdesh based on familarity mainly).

The New Zealand squad has no resemblance to the one that toured Bdesh also - again a 2nd/3rd 11 (and they managed to win 2 games).

So this 'upper hand on Australia' needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Really poor from Bangladesh, they keep making basic mistakes like dropping catches, poor shot selection. Afghanistan are playing much better (when they are not selling out to India):))):))

Finch, Warner, Smith, Maxwell, Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins and Stonis did not play in the last series against Bangladesh.

What is happening with Bangladesh is exactly the thing that happens once you play on unprepared wickets in home in the name of home advantage. The confidence of batsmen is shot.

How many of Bangladesh's victories against the big teams in the last 20 years were achieved against a 2nd/3rd 11 (including their sole away test series win v West Windies who put out a 3rd 11 virtually) ?

This is not an attempt to poke fun. It is simply to highlight how woeful Bangladesh have been in international cricket in their history.

Win the toss , win the match. End thread

How is the toss impacting a day match?
Losing 4 wickets in the power play might due to some super natural forces as toss has no cricketing relevance to the current situation of the match.

See you soon when Pakistan will lose a toss in semifinal or final .

Bangladesh won the toss against Scotland, England and West Indies and still got humiliatingly pulverised in all three games :))

How is the toss impacting a day match? Even if we assume losing a toss means losing 4 wickets in the power play due to some super natural forces.

T20 cricket is all about winning the toss, if you win the toss you are in the driving seat.

Teams that bat first have to target 150+ when batting, teams batting second know exactly how much they need to score and can pace themselves easier..

Yes and theses pitch's are most suited for batting last .90% advantage when you win the toss and chose to fields first .

Unless you are Bangladesh. Then you just lose, whether you bat or bowl first.

While chasing you know the target however, if you bat as poorly as losing 4 wickets in PP then you surely dont know about going towards 150+ in a right way. If you cant score 150 while batting first regularly on most surfaces the you are going to even struggle chasing 150 on different surfaces.

Losing toss is not a good enough excuse to lose 4 wickets in PP.

how is bangladesh so trash
shouldve had another associate team in instead of them

Steyn - " AB, Faf and I have similar body types and height but AB and Faf conbined cant bowl 140 + kph" :))

Is this in any way related to BD's showing in this world cup? They are the team who have had a very fair mix of bat first/second?

Exactly. They have won tosses and they have batted second and still lost. Even SCOTLAND game they were batting second and lost.

These pitches are not minefields that you get bowled out for less than 100 TWICE. But anyway, if it makes that geezer feel better let him say it is toss even though Bangladesh have won tosses and if it makes him feel better let him say it is because they batted first even though Bangladesh have also bowled first and still lost.

No excuse for any team to score 84 and 73 in successive games. Even Associates are putting up more fight than this.

LOL, Bangladesh.

I didn't wake up for this game. I expected it to be one-sided.

Aussies need 74 to win.

Shocking, dire performances by BD. Not rubbing salt but Scotland and Namibia and Ireland would very easily beat BD in t20 anywhere in the world apart from BD. That is a fact.

Aus likely to make semis as they can improve their nrr even more when they play windies.
South Africa have to win comfortably vs eng or the windies have to give aus a hard victory which is unlikely

I believe that too.

I also think Namibia can beat them. LOL.

Things are very bad currently.

Aussies are showing aggression unlike the South Africans who batted timidly against BD.

Fizz is done. The cutters still his only weapon and teams have sussed it out. Taskin far better then Fizz.

Performance of BD in this World T20 does not surprise me.

I expected this disaster to happen more than 6 months ago. Many Bangladeshi fans attacked me for being pessimistic and negative.

Well, I have been right.

There are deep issues that need to be fixed. Stop blaming the coach. Coach can't do much if players can't do the basics right.

Yeah.

I think he is overrated. He needs to try more things instead of cutters.

Teams can easily figure him out after a while.

Bangla have been very poor throughout this competition.Namibia and Scotland played much better than BD.Not trying to bash BD but they need to change their pitches at home and select a few aggressive youngsters who score quick runs to put pressure on the opposition.

You are bang on about the pitches.

Unfortunately, many Bangladeshi folks (including the ones in the management) don't think long-term. They want to get some cheap wins against B teams and C teams.

It is just a mess and is unlikely to be fixed anytime soon.

What do you think what is main reason?
It's very hard for me to believe this kind of performance from bangladesh. I was excepting some looses but this is really bizarre.

It's very hard for me to believe this kind of performance from bangladesh. I was excepting some looses but this is really bizarre.

It is a combination of many things. Political interference is one.

Bangladesh cricket board is pretty much run by one person (Nazmul Hasan Papon) with no cricket background. Selectors are puppets.

Finally, many players don't have the right attitude. They can't take constructive criticisms. They don't try to get better.

The vibe within BD setup has to be better. It is filled with arrogance and delusion.

This is not trying to pick on BD so I will start by saying that Pakistan are no great shakes either currently. What Pakistan do have is unpredictable talent that can beat anybody on a given day. That is what has got them to this stage.

Back to Bdesh:

- They need to completely change their pitches. No slow, low turners. Bouncy, batting wickets.
- Find players young, change their diet, bulk them up. BD players are physically very weak.
- Change their nickname - get rid of the Tigers. This just provides a point to ridicule them. They are not tigers. Somthing like 'Red Caps'.
- Focus on tests. The only way to improve your cricket is to create good test players and the other formats will follow. Bdesh focus on ODIs too much because that is the only formagt where they can remptely compete.

7 more runs to go.

Australia can win this within 7 overs.

Australia - 67/1 after 5.5 overs (target: 74).

Fans celebrating wildly and the bowler celebrating a wicket with the batsman slogging - when they are about to be given one the biggest thrashings in history. Kind of reflects the mentality which does not help BD cricket. Deluded fans.

And that BD commentator is one of the most biasded and deluded people on TV. I think he is forgetting he is supposed to be impartial and not talk as a fan.

Australia have overtaken South Africa in terms of NRR.

Australia - 1.03.
South Africa - 0.74.

This means even if Australia lose, they may go through (unless, South Africa lose against England).

Correction: Australia may go through even if they lose (provided South Africa don't win against England).

Australia consigned Bangladesh to a big defeat in the Tigers' final match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 and gave themselves a net run rate boost.

The Australian bowlers, led by Adam Zampa, restricted a hapless Bangladesh to 73, before Aaron Finch's men stormed to the target in 6.2 overs.

Zampa picked up five wickets with his leg-spin, his 5/19 the best figures of the tournament so far and the best for Australia in T20Is. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood had two each.

Bangladesh's batting woes followed them into their final match of the tournament. Only three batters got into double-figures, nobody made more than 20, and they were bundled out in 15 overs.

Australia enjoyed a big net run rate boost with the result, leapfrogging South Africa to be second on the table behind England.

Quick chase

The loss to England had hit Australia's net run rate, and meant that should they find themselves equal on points with South Africa after all the games were played, they would lose out.

Hence, Aaron Finch came out swinging, keen to knock off the runs in quick time.

He took a fancy to Mustafizur Rahman, targetting the midwicket boundaries and sending the ball soaring into the stands. Taskin Ahmed too was smashed for back-to-back sixes before Finch was bowled going for another big one, falling for 40 off just 27 balls.

Although Australia then lost Warner as well, they had knocked off 67 runs in the Powerplay, the highest total in that period all tournament.

Another six over midwicket, this time from Mitchell Marsh, completed the formalities.

Pace and spin combine

Earlier, asked to bat first, Bangladesh came undone against both pace and spin in the Powerplay.

Starc greeted them with a series of deliveries around 144kph, while also getting late movement. Liton Das was dismissed in the very first ball he faced, bowled by a full and fast one.

Hazlewood came back from being hit through the gaps in the leg-side field for four by Soumya Sarkar to have the batter inside-edge onto the stumps.

Glenn Maxwell, brought in for an over of spin despite the pacers doing well, then got some turn to trap Mushfiqur Rahim in front.

Mohammad Naim drove one back past Hazlewood for his third four of the afternoon, but was caught inside the circle two balls later trying to pull.

Adam Zampa needed just one ball to make an impact, with Afif Hossain caught at slip off a googly.

And at 33/5 in just over six overs, Bangladesh were in deep trouble.

Shamim, Mahmud Ullah resist

Mahmud Ullah, who had got going with a couple of fours off Starc, finally found a partner in Shamim Hossain to bring a brief period of stability.

Shamim gave Bangladesh fans the first six to celebrate, smashing Zampa over deep square leg to bring out the team fifty.

Two in two for Zampa

The stand had grown to 29 in 28 balls when Zampa precipitated another collapse.

First, Shamim was caught behind looking to cut. Then, Mahedi Hasan was trapped LBW first ball, with the review confirming the umpire's call that it was clipping off stump.

He could have completed the hat-trick in his next over had Matthew Wade held on to an edge. He did add another couple of wickets to his tally in that over, though, picking up his five-for and wrapping up the Bangladesh innings.

I really don’t want aus in the semis

Their bowling is superb and Pakistan historically has a mental block against them

This is the exact kind of game where we will be found out

I would much rather England, we always turn up against them in tournaments
