Australia destroy feeble Pakistan in dominant nine-wicket victory in 2nd T20I of Tri-Series

Hoping our bowling can pull this off for us, been a while since they have been tested in T20 cricket :)

Australia will do us a favour if they can help us drop Hafeez and Nawaz.

Too many all rounders in this team and lack of specialists.

I cringe every time I see Nawaz's name in the starting xi, the guy is useless as they come!

0-20 off 2 Usman Shinwari overs

0-15 off 1 Mohammad Nawaz over

Pakistan having an all round bad day full stop.

That's a good old fashioned whopping, Aussies seems like playing on a different pitch, may be it was our pathetic batting which made d this pitch look sluggish,, We are Coming back to Earth crashing,,, No middle ground with Pak,,, But we have too much dead weight to be a Real No. 1 team, Surely not with this Pathetic batting line up.

Looks like problem is same for India and Pakistan. Both persisting with tried and tested failures.

Also I know i’d be bashed for making this comment. But you guys need to look beyond Sarfaraz. With Once in a blue moon performance he just plays as a specialist captain. He may be a brilliant tactician but thats all about it. Everything else about him is mediocre.

At this rate Oz going to chase inside 10,,, This is Perfect storm, couldn't got any worse.

Plus being a loud mouth.

10 extras inside 8 overs that too with defending such a small total of 116.

Pakistan lost it in all facets of the game today.

Terrible batting performance left too much for the bowlers to do for Pakistan to get back into the game.

Woah, it’s like 3 idiot version of Chamatkar of the best T20 team (& Captain) of PAK history.

Mamoon Bhai abhi Messi ke dukh se overcome nahin kia?

Indeed, they would have easily defended 170 today with this bowling performance.

There's a difference in body language when a team is defending a big score and have a couple of bad overs bowling and a team with very few runs on the board and it's pretty much over after 3 overs.

Lovely.

I called it earlier with Aussies looking to finish this between 10-12 overs.

They do it in 11.

I bet Hafeez will play in rest of the T20 and ODI as well.
Inzi is such a crook!!!

9 wickets & 55 balls - I should charge PCB for 2 hours of sleep on this Canada day extended weekend.

We would win 9/10 times, they caught us on a bad day.

Not really you will see we will loose next match as well as final. Apart from Fakhar, Malik and Sadab there is no batsman and without Amir and Hasan our bowling can beat any decent team.

In the finals of the tri-series, Pakistan will eventually suppress Australia and prove why they are the benchmark for other teams as far as T20s are concerned.

Let teams like India/England/Australia win league matches, the bigger team i.e. Pakistan, eventually delivers in semi-finals and finals of the tournaments.

Bro, in a 120 balls game, 9 wickets & 55 balls is like losing by innings with half the wickets in only innings at hand inside 3 days - for no. 1 ranked team, it’s equivalent to the recent Bangalore Test against this AUS side who is struggling in every facet of the game in recent times.

If ever there is a day to keep low profile in PP, it’s 2nd July, 2018.

A poor batting display right from the word go. Pakistan undone by bounce yet again. Billy Stanlake is 2.04m or 6ft 7" is the tallest player ever to play cricket for Australia. 116 was undefendable against a very strong Australian batting line-up. Sarfraz needs to show greater responsibility with the bat now that he is captain. He is too flashy. Without Shadab and Faheem's late cameos, Pakistan would have not even reached 100.

However Pakistan should not lose heart. They still lead Aus 8-7 in T20Is. Pak just did not put enough runs on the board and it is just hard to defend below 140-150 totals in today's game. This Aussie side is definitely beatable. They are not the best players of spin. Score 170+/- and you can put them under pressure

Australia struggled against Moeen and Adil in England during the recent ODIs and T20I...and we have better spinners than them. Put runs on the board and it then becomes a different ball game altogether

That's bad. How many games have we played/lost since then

Zimbos can actually beat Pakistan if they show some fight in the next match. As always Pakistan are vulnerable. Hafeez and Sarfraz are such consistent failures, not even law of averages helps them have a good day.

Not Sarfraz - he won an International game with bat just 2 games ago. Best Captain of PAK history (in T20).

Because we lost a T20 game?
Pak will win the tournament.

Ha..ha... You've got to be kidding me mate.

I am telling hardcore fact👍

There could be few captains with 100% Win record for 1/2 games; but in cricket history show me another captain with such W/L after so many official Internationals - even Lloyd, Ponting, Waugh or Bradman didn’t have such domination as Captain in Test or ODI. 😜

It was a bit more that just losing a game, if you could read that.

Inshallah - PAK should win the tournament after being No. 1 ranked team for so long.

Hope this is a wake-up call to the team management.

Nawaz needs to be dropped, brings nothing to the table.

Toss was also crucial in this match.

This is pretty much the issue of having an international schedule where Pakistan is left to pick up leftover teams and tours to play. Playing with Zimbabwe and other weaker teams endlessly will always leave them with a false sense of satisfaction. I know we won the t20 series against NZ, but too for me, too much of Pakistan’s form in the shorter format is a big question mark after the champions trophy final

'We’ve come here to win the series' – Aaron Finch

Billy Stanlake’s 4/8 and captain Aaron Finch’s 68* off 33 helped Australia romp to a commanding victory over Pakistan in the second game of the Twenty20 International tri-series in Harare on 2 July. Their aggressive approach was exactly what the team was going for after tour of England where they lost all matches.

This win was Australia’s first under the new coach Justin Langer and put an end to the team’s six-match losing streak in limited-overs cricket.

Tall Stanlake troubled the Pakistan batsmen with the extra bounce and got all of his wickets with the batsmen trying to fend off short balls.

“My role is to be aggressive upfront and take wickets in the Powerplay and make it hard for the opposition to get on a roll,” he said. “I’ve probably had faster spells, but the main thing is to take early wickets.

“We had a disappointing tour of the UK. [So it is] great for us to get a nice start in the series … The key message we’ve been talking about is doing the simple things well, stick to our strengths. And that probably got away from us in England.”

“The tone the bowlers set with the ball on a pretty good wicket was fantastic. To see them be aggressive and bowl fast was nice,” said Finch. “[We] just bowled aggressively and I hung on to some catches. You know how important it is to get wickets in the Powerplay in T20s.

“We've come here to win the series. We've been putting in plans, it did not come off in England. It was a pretty polished performance here.”

Stanlake bowled all four of his overs on the trot with the new ball, and by the time he finished his spell in the seventh over, Pakistan had already lost four wickets with just 24 runs on the board. He said he was happy to do so again if the captain asked for it.

“With the early wickets, Finch kept going with me. It’s the first time I have bowled out in one go. Finch was terrific in the field and with the bat,” he said.

Stanlake was referring to Finch's one-handed stunner to dismiss Hussain Talat and two other catches he took standing at first slip. Then, the captain and opener struck a rapid-fire half-century, studded with four fours and six sixes.

Finch’s attacking innings and some support from D’Arcy Short (15) and Travis Head (20) helped Australia chase the target of 117 in just 10.5 overs. The captain laid emphasis on the need to “break the game open”.

“At times, when you're chasing a small total, you try to break the game open. If you manage to break the game open, suddenly you’re chasing four or five runs per over and that makes it a lot easier,” he said.

Sarfraz Ahmed, the Pakistan captain, was understandably disappointed after the loss and conceded that Pakistan lost too many wickets in the Powerplay. “Toss is very important, if you lose too many wickets in first six overs, you can't survive in the match,” he said.

“Credit to Stanlake, he bowled with pace and bounce. [We have got] plenty to work on.”

But according to Mamoon, this series is pointless

This Pakistani team will always be exposed when it plays against the big boys i.e. Australia, NZ, South Africa, England, India

Playing against Minnows like Zimbabwe, West Indies e.t.c. just masks the problems the team faces

How Nawaz and Hafeez keep getting chances is baffling. Nawaz is a poor bowler and not a good enough batsman. Hafeez has a poor t20 record and wasn't even given a chance to bowl today.

Too may all-rounders and not enough specialists, in my opinion. It was only a matter of time before they came unstuck.

Didn't Pakistan beat NZ in NZ just a few months ago?

You are right wrt his captaincy but considering his batting performances across formats, Sarfraz leaves a lot to be desired. To be honest I like sarfraz as a human being, not that I've ever met him but going by what I see on TV he comes across as a nice, humble guy. I would love to see him do well, but at the moment he is simply not good enough.

By the way MMHS, you are my favourite poster on this forum mate.

People are over reacting so much. One bad performance. That's all it is. We will learn from this and I still believe we will win this tri-series.

I put two symbols in my post, yet sounds like you didn't notice those. If I explain more than that, pankha base will get upset ............ Every dog his day - Sarfraz had his one in CT, against SRL, then FZ & Amir won him Final against IND; it could have been an epic for him, had it ended there.

And, thanks for the compliment, I try to serve my best.

'We’ve come here to win the series' – Aaron Finch

Good to see Australia getting its swagger back. Cricket without WI and Pakistani pace bowlers, Australian swagger, and Indian batting superstars is weak tea :)

Stanlake and Finch again showing that the best players in the world play in the IPL.
