Australia put in to bat first by Pakistan.

At one stage Aus were 60+/6 and now they are 193/8 after 43.3 overs.

Pak lacking the killer instinct.

Considering our past history of producing average international batsman from 2001 to 2016, I won't expect much from these young guns. However, keeping an eye on Gul The Mean!

Our best U19 bowler Jhye Richardson isn't playing because he's in the Perth Scorchers squad

Bro, do you have any idea about the guy who was bowling like a left-armer Malinga in Wasim Akram's pace camp??

Dude, not sure about his pace as that of wasim's but he was bowling at 137-141. However, his angle was very irritating to batters. He might have proved a good t20 bowler. He a'int selected in psl i guess?

Must be the weakest pakistani u19 team ever

16 YO Australian lad scoring century coming lower down the order in a low scoring match. Some one to keep an eye on ,Sardar Sangha, talent. And well done 'Mean' Gul.

One thing for sure – Bangladesh or India will win this. It is probably the most likely final. I always wondered why India are so strong at this level? anyway, I just hope Bangladesh has a master-plan to beat India: they lost all the games to them in the triangular series, but wins more than 80% of its games against all the other teams in bilateral series.

Afghanistan could knock either Pakistan or Sri Lanka out, and I have a feeling they will. Good luck! England have the easier group. West Indies should consider themselves lucky that they are in the easiest group. Bangladesh should crush world champions South Africa. They beat them 6-1 at home last year. That game they lost was a really close affair. so could've quite easily been 7-0.

Wow what's going on with Pakistan cricket? There seems to be no talent emerging from the country. Looks like Pakistan's struggles in international cricket will continue for quite a few years. It's sad to see because Pakistan and India have historically been the powerhouses of U19 cricket. I'm pretty sure right now Afghanistan U19 would give Pakistan a run for their money.

No body or no team can stay unbeaten forever regardless talent or facilities. May be its time for BD to become World Champion in Test, ODI and T20 and win series home and away!!!!!

Lol, the national team will not suffer if Pakistan have one weak edition of u19 teams. Pakistan have allways had one of the best u19 teams and that did not mean they ruled at senior level. At senior level all you need is to select 15 players aged between 16 and 40 and Pakistan will allways have talent to do that so don't you worry much about Pak.

Damn ....

I thought we had a better Under 19 team than this.

NZ now Australia.

Must be the weakest pakistani u19 team ever

TalentSpotterPk 5-fer for ma sher :)

I would be happy with getting atleast one world class express fast bowler and a decent batsman(once in ever y two u19 world cups) every u19 world cup then an u19 world cup win.

Seriously, what did we get from our u19 wc wins have'nt done much good to our international team.
Riaz Afridi :D ?
Btw, this shadab khan looks gritty. Anyone got any idea, how good is he? TalentSpotterPk

Despite thus being a pretty average side, there are some good players in this team. Shadab Khan seems the most impressive; hope he can get us across the line.

Alhamdoulillah eventually he delivers. He is said to be the fastest under 19 bowler in pakistan and he has mostly been at PCB headquarters in last 2 years. Lots of Raw talent in FATA.

Also think Ahmad Shafiq & Sameen Gul are guys to keep an eye on. There's some hype around Zeeshan Malik but he hasn't impressed me all that much tbh

Never seen him bowl but just like raza hassan , usman qadir , Zafar Gohar And karamat Ali this lad is always amongst the wickets. M.A

Gauhar Hafeez is scoring which is good.

One guy scored a ton in last series but has been dropped!

so you're saying Shafiq, Gul and Malik will never leave us :afaq

The tournaments before which we have a poor start eventually we do well.

Pakistan can win the under 19 worldcup if Sameen , Shadab, both Hassan's and Zeeshan Malik fire. They all are capable of it.

Don't read too much into the warm up games :-)

Any idea how fast is he?

About cummins's pace when he was 19?

I know for a fact that Richardson has been speedgunned at just over 140kmp on at least one occasion.

I heard that from his brother.

I imagine he's on track to probably be at least as fast as Coulter-Nile and Pattinson

Why is Shadab listed as a medium pace bowler on his cricinfo profile?

Funny thing. Mitch Marsh has been speed gunned on tv as having bowled high 130s and sometimes low 140s on a number of times over the years and cricinfo still have him as RM while Shane Watson is considered RFM.

Its not about his pace. The guy is supposed to be a legspinner :))
Funny thing is criciinfo did mention that he was a leggie when the squad was picked

Cricinfo said:
Legspinner Shadab Khan, who was the top wicket-taker of the tournament with 30 wickets at 7.73, was also included.

wot.

Probably cricinfo's writing relying on the cricinfo archive to find out about players

Convict any info on Ashton Agar's brother who is playing this game?

Played really well for South Australia's U19s

At underage level I only really know about the WA guys and even then I don't know as much as I did with cohorts closer to my age group.

What is with this Sameen Gul guy wasting 21 deliveries and not scoring a single run.

Too many players at the lower levels selected because of corrupt practices, which permeates through to the U19 team.

This is the last time any Australian side will beat Pakistan for the next 2 years. Savor it Aussies, this is where it ends.

Looks like u19 cricket has finally started suffering. No more good talents coming forward.

We have been there in the past. IIRC in 2001 in NZ we got beaten by Nepal and went out of the tournament in group stage

As long as there are 2-3 quality players i would be happy

Looking forward to Sameen Gul's pace at WC

lack of talent is apparent at street level , 15 years ago every street has cricket going on and each one having couple of really good cricketers , now the street cricket is almost vanished and the ones which are left is of appalling standard in which bowlers don't even capable of bowling properly/legally.
